  1. Do not give up on this. I know this is very frustrating. When I first started this process I was told that my insurance would cover it if I did a 6-month supervised diet. So I did that and everything else they wanted me to do. When I went for my pre-surgery visit with the surgeon his office staff let me know that my insurance had an exclusion on it. I got mad and said that everything I had been doing for the past 6 months was all for nothing. I sat right there in his office and bawled my eyes out. I then decided to self-pay. What frustrates me is that I could have had my surgery 6 months ago if they had not wasted my time with their screw-up.

I just wanted you to see that alot of us go through almost hell sometimes for this. It seriously took me 2 years of trying to get insurance to pay for it and NOTHING. So like I said I self-payed and am almost 2 weeks out of surgery and have not regreted doing this for one second, no matter what all I had gone through for this.

It's hard sometimes to bite our tounges and just let it go, but it is your health at stake. I promise you that you will not regret your decision. Good luck to you with whatever you choose.

  2. Just let me tell ya.... I am the biggest chicken in the world when it comes to doctors. I too was scared and nervous. I got in there and got ready for surgery, they gave me some medicine through my I.V., wheeled me to the operating room and the next thing I knew they were waking me up and saying it was over. I kept thinking why was I so worried about this. So take it from me (the chicken) you will be fine. Don't worry and good luck to you.

  3. Don't fret. I did the same thing. I had been doing really good on my pre-op diet until 2 days before surgery. Then stupidly I ate a sandwich and some chips..... just 2 days before surgery!!!!! I was so upset with myself the rest of the day, so much my husband thought I was crazy. I had my surgery on June 27th, and everything went great. So it won't kill you, but just get back on the wagon, and everything will work out. Good luck to you.

  4. Thanks everyone for your advice, and I will be back on the wagon now. I do realize that I cannot do this post-op and am really serious about this. I have gone from many cokes a day and eating fast food everyday to this is my first time to screw up in two weeks. And like I said, I don't know what came over me. But I am proud of my 12 pound weight loss

  5. OK everyone be gentle with me, but be honest. The thing is that I have been on my pre-op diet for almost 2 weeks now. surgery is Friday. I have been doing really good and have lost 12 pounds. Then today (2 days before surgery) I cheated big time. I had a sandwich and some chips and that's it for today. How bad does this sound, and should I just drink Water tomorrow? I even went on vacation through these two weeks and did'nt cheat once, I don't know what came over me today. Thanks!

  6. Congrats on your surgery date. I know exactly what your saying about the last meal, I did the same thing. My surgery is in 3 days and it has seemed to take forever to get here. I have been doing my pre-op diet for the past two weeks and it is really easier than I thought it was going to be. So just relax until the time comes for you to start your pre-op diet, and then you can do that too. Good luck to you on your journey.

  7. It's not at all that I mind doing the pre-op diet, it's just I could not drink that particular brand of shake. (Bariatric Advantage) I'm not trying to come across as a person who is not serious about this. My question was do I just need to lose weight by any means. I did'nt realize that I had to do it only with the shakes. My surgeon's office is not the most helpful, you put calls into them several times and they won't call you back. They did'nt give me any instruction on this shake diet.

While I appreciate the advice, I totally am not the slacker person you must think I am, I'm just looking for some help with this.

  8. My surgeon wants me to do 2 weeks of a liquid diet. The problem is that I ordered the shakes he wanted me to and I cannot drink them. I can't force myself to swollow them. So I have gone to the 2 slim-fast and one meal a day. Do you think this will be o.k.? My question is that is it just the point of being on liquids to shrink the liver fat or is it just as long as I'm losing weight my way I'll be o.k.? Sorry, I hope not too confusing.

    Thank you for your help.
