  1. I just wanted to see how long you went without a period after surgery? It has been two months for me and am getting a little concerned. Thanks in advance for your answers.
  2. I promise you two ladies that the best thing you can do for the gas is to walk as much as possible. I never took anything for the gas at all and the walking seemed to keep it bearable. I even had to get up in the night and walk if I felt the pain from the gas coming back. Good luck to both of you.
  3. I promise you that you will not regret your decision for one minute. And besides, your band is on my birthday so I know you will be fine. Good luck with everything.
  4. I am soon to go into my mushies, and was wondering if I could have watermelon? It seems like it is watery like and if I mash it before I take a bite. Did anyone else eat watermelon or any other type of fresh fruit during your mushy stage? Thanks for the help.
  5. Hi Diva21 I used the low-carb slim-fast during my pre-op diet and lost 12 pounds.
  6. I don't live anywhere near you, but wanted to say good luck with your journey. I'm coming to KY in 2 weeks, to burnside for vacation. Never been to KY before, but really looking forward to it. We live outside of Houston, so it is going to be an 18 hour drive for us. Anyway, good luck to you and your in the right place for the lap-band questions and inquiries.

I am I the only Failure

Do not give up on this. I know this is very frustrating. When I first started this process I was told that my insurance would cover it if I did a 6-month supervised diet. So I did that and everything else they wanted me to do. When I went for my pre-surgery visit with the surgeon his office staff let me know that my insurance had an exclusion on it. I got mad and said that everything I had been doing for the past 6 months was all for nothing. I sat right there in his office and bawled my eyes out. I then decided to self-pay. What frustrates me is that I could have had my surgery 6 months ago if they had not wasted my time with their screw-up. I just wanted you to see that alot of us go through almost hell sometimes for this. It seriously took me 2 years of trying to get insurance to pay for it and NOTHING. So like I said I self-payed and am almost 2 weeks out of surgery and have not regreted doing this for one second, no matter what all I had gone through for this. It's hard sometimes to bite our tounges and just let it go, but it is your health at stake. I promise you that you will not regret your decision. Good luck to you with whatever you choose.

    Dr. Felix Spiegel, Houston Tx.

I had my surgery done in Houston and love the surgeon that I used. I don't know a whole lot about that doctor, but I have heard good things about him. I used Garth Davis, and had my surgery done at University General, the best experience. Good luck to you with whatever you choose and research everything.

    I got my date today!!!

Don't worry about anything. I have never had surgery before either until this band. I am a week out and have lost 19lbs with the 2 week pre-op diet and surgery. I have not regreted doing this for one minute, and I know you won't either. In a year, you will be soooo.... glad you did this.
  11. If I were you I would choose whatever will help you. If it would motivate you more to set small goals or if you need to see it all at once. You have to do what will help you the best. Anyways, good luck to you.

Hi shygirl, No need to be shy on here. Welcome to LBT, and this is the best place for resources if your thinking about having the lap-band. Good luck to you and if you have any questions just pm me.
  13. Just let me tell ya.... I am the biggest chicken in the world when it comes to doctors. I too was scared and nervous. I got in there and got ready for surgery, they gave me some medicine through my I.V., wheeled me to the operating room and the next thing I knew they were waking me up and saying it was over. I kept thinking why was I so worried about this. So take it from me (the chicken) you will be fine. Don't worry and good luck to you.

    Cheating

Don't fret. I did the same thing. I had been doing really good on my pre-op diet until 2 days before surgery. Then stupidly I ate a sandwich and some chips..... just 2 days before surgery!!!!! I was so upset with myself the rest of the day, so much my husband thought I was crazy. I had my surgery on June 27th, and everything went great. So it won't kill you, but just get back on the wagon, and everything will work out. Good luck to you.
  15. Hi MizJudie I am using Dr. Garth Davis in the medical center and he is awesome. If you need more info just pm me. You could just give them a call and ask them about taking you on. Good Luck!!!
  16. Hi Jen I too am having my surgery in Houston (Friday) with Dr. Garth Davis. He is the Dr. who does the TLC show Big Medicine. I would really recommend him and his team. If you need anymore info just pm me, and I would be happy to help. Good luck to you with whatever you do.
  17. OK everyone be gentle with me, but be honest. The thing is that I have been on my pre-op diet for almost 2 weeks now. surgery is Friday. I have been doing really good and have lost 12 pounds. Then today (2 days before surgery) I cheated big time. I had a sandwich and some chips and that's it for today. How bad does this sound, and should I just drink water tomorrow? I even went on vacation through these two weeks and did'nt cheat once, I don't know what came over me today. Thanks!

    Wwyd?

Thanks everyone for your advice, and I will be back on the wagon now. I do realize that I cannot do this post-op and am really serious about this. I have gone from many cokes a day and eating fast food everyday to this is my first time to screw up in two weeks. And like I said, I don't know what came over me. But I am proud of my 12 pound weight loss

I think I would definetly call the dr and see if there are other meds to try, especially since it has been this long and your still having problems with it.

    July 28th !!!!!

Congrats on your surgery date. I know exactly what your saying about the last meal, I did the same thing. My surgery is in 3 days and it has seemed to take forever to get here. I have been doing my pre-op diet for the past two weeks and it is really easier than I thought it was going to be. So just relax until the time comes for you to start your pre-op diet, and then you can do that too. Good luck to you on your journey.
  22. My surgeon wants me to do 2 weeks of a liquid diet. The problem is that I ordered the shakes he wanted me to and I cannot drink them. I can't force myself to swollow them. So I have gone to the 2 slim-fast and one meal a day. Do you think this will be o.k.? My question is that is it just the point of being on liquids to shrink the liver fat or is it just as long as I'm losing weight my way I'll be o.k.? Sorry, I hope not too confusing. Thank you for your help.
  23. Thank you for your help with this, that sounds good.
  24. Thank you jills, this is the kind of advice I was looking for. I have lost 6 pounds so far and was a little discouraged by the last poster as if I was'nt serious. I appreciate your help, and good luck to you.
  25. It's not at all that I mind doing the pre-op diet, it's just I could not drink that particular brand of shake. (Bariatric Advantage) I'm not trying to come across as a person who is not serious about this. My question was do I just need to lose weight by any means. I did'nt realize that I had to do it only with the shakes. My surgeon's office is not the most helpful, you put calls into them several times and they won't call you back. They did'nt give me any instruction on this shake diet. While I appreciate the advice, I totally am not the slacker person you must think I am, I'm just looking for some help with this.
