***Questions thread***
Hi!! The scars are permanent. Some people will be lucky enough to have theirs fade mostly away to a faint white line. Mine are still red after 2 1/2 months. A plastic surgeon said that stretch marks are basically scars so they won't go away either. Again, the hope is to fade them whether with lotions or time. I'm already sagging a bit and I have another 60 pounds to lose. I am hoping for plastic surgery to take care of the tummy, and a breast lift to take care of the gravity issues :0) I wish you luck on getting banded! I love my band and only wish I could have had it years ago :0)

Lettuce
It's been 2 1/2 months for me and I don't have trouble with lettuce. I avoided it for the first 6 weeks and then tried it in very little portions. I cut it up more than I used to, just to make sure I don't get any long strands that won't break up when I chew it. I have yet to PB or slime and I REALLY want to keep it that way. (I know it's inevitable)

9 hours to banding, female question.
They gave me some lovely mesh panties and one of their pads (yuck). I ended up going from 9:00PM to 3:30PM the next day before surgery w/o food or water. I was so excited that I didn't really notice so much the time of waiting.

POLL: Whats YOUR "FULL" SIGNAL??
I hiccup or sigh just before I hit full. I do feel full in my stomach which I know a lot of people don't.

It's Official!!!!
Congratulations!!!!! Woohoo :0) Each doctor is different on diet, when to eat mushies, solids etc. You should follow what your particular doc is wanting. I didn't have a pre-diet; I did liquids for two weeks; mushies for two weeks; had a fill; mushies for two days; on to regular food. Congrats again!! The time will be here before you know it!

For Ladies Only.......
I haven't changed sizes yet, but they are definitely deflating. I've never been small chested even when I was skinny in high school. Having two kids after that, I have know idea with what I'm going to end up with when I get to my goal weight! Someone on these boards says you lose from your head down and your toes up (tummy and booty last - as usual). My experience is agreeing with this so far :0)

I'm freezing cold....Anyone else
I'm freezing too!! I thought it was because I was anemic. I've been anemic for years; been on prescription iron to try and fix it but not anymore. My sister is horribly anemic and she's constantly blue. I've never heard of the ketosis thing making you cold - interesting!

Dizzy / Lightheaded???
I had the same issue and checked my BP. It has always been fine so I'm not on meds for that. Mine was dehydration and not getting enough protein. I still feel it occassionally.

3 Month Pictures
Y'all look fabulous!! I'm traveling for work this week so I'll look into figuring out how to post some pics when I get home. I'm not quite at 3 months and I totally hate having my picture taken. I already feel the pain of just thinking of posting it

June 2007 Bandsters
I'm disgusted w/ how much I can eat:faint: My own willpower is keeping me from going overboard. I had my second fill just over a week ago and it feels like it isn't even there. It was nice and snug when I got it. Can it be gone already? I seriously can not be going back all the time like this. I want to cry :cry

Dr. Spivak's patients .....
I flew a couple of days ago and will again tomorrow. I did notice that it got tighter while I was on the plane because I could feel some restriction drinking water. Once I was off the plane I felt fine again - I had no trouble with dinner.

NSV's
Kaelin I love your NSV! I too have the joy of not rubbing against the steering wheel!! I am only 5'0" so I have to really sit close to reach the pedals. In my jeep I had to drive with my tiptoes cause I couldn't sit any closer - now I can scoot up and reach the pedals!!! woohoo for us!

June 2007 Bandsters
Hello all! I'm on fill number two and already I don't think it's tight enough. It's been just over a week.:think I can't get them to understand that I can't take a day off and drive 5 hours (one way) to see the doc for another fill. I know they made it as tight as they could when I was there because it actually blocked all liquids from going through so they removed just a little bit. WHY DOESN'T IT STAY LONGER?!?!?!?:faint:

2nd Fill
I got my second fill. I still have no idea how much is in there. I'm eating less but I don't feel a lot of restriction. Someone posted on keep getting filled until you can only eat 1/4 cup. I can definitely eat more than that. What happens if you eat till you fill full - does that stretch the stomach? I don't want to mess it up:help:
-
Can only compare to a C-section
I had two c-sections myself. The gas pain is different. It's not so much concentrated in the stomach area. With the c-sections I felt like there was still a kid in there the stomach was so active with gas. I did not get that with the lapband. For me, the worst part was the iritation to the stomach that sends the pain up to the shoulder. Odd place but that's where it goes for a lot of people. I wrapped a pillow around my tummy to protect it against the seatbelt and then spent 5 hours in a car to get home. I wasn't able to fill my pain killer prescription till after I got home and I did need it! The trip home would have been a lot more tolerable with a little drugs :heh:

Conflicting advice?
Here's my rules No Pre-OP diet Two weeks liquids Two weeks mushies No sodas Avoid liquid calories 40% of calories from protein Fairly vague - and lots of wiggle room :hungry:

I have a question.....
I don't even think you can get the surgery unless your BMI is at least 35. My doc would do it at 35 if you had a weight related illness; otherwise it was a 40 BMI. I believe it was the same whether it was through insurance or self pay. I was a self pay with a 40BMI. Good luck to your friend. I think this is a lot to go through for 25 pounds.

Dr. Spivak's patients .....
For now I am taking advantage of the free fills. The cost of driving down there ($100 of gas) is still cheaper than anyone around here. The prices range from $200 to $500 for fill if you can find someone that will do it for you since they didn't do the surgery. Once this year is up, I doubt I will be back to see Spivak.
