    The Beginning

You've come to the right place. The support on this site is fantastic! I have learned so much and am so much more at ease with what to expect. My surgery is next Tuesday and I am not nervous at all. I feel I am so much more prepared by reading the posts on this site. You have been through so much already. May God bless you and your family as you embark on this wonderful journey!

    Hungry!

Pookybear, my preop diet is the same as yours, but we can have two high protein snacks and sf jello or Popsicles. Whenever I feel hungry, I drink a bunch of water until I can get to my next meal. Logging in Lose It! I'm eating between 800-1000 per day. Hope that helps.

    Free Vitamins

I checked into this and it is for those who cannot afford the cost. Though it is at the doctors discretion. Basically, the honor system.

    Brand new here!

From my first visit with the surgeon to my surgery date was 4 months. That is a lot faster than some. I am taking a trip 3 months after my surgery and my surgeon said I will be fine to go.

Good luck to the lucky few tomorrow. I'll be thinking and praying for you all!

    Fabulous February!

Started the preop diet on Friday. So far so good. Put up 17 cups of homemade chicken broth and 10 cups of homemade pureed veggie soup for the recovery time. Planted broccoli, spinach, and lettuce which should be ready in 60 days in time to make smoothies. I'm counting down to the 19th. Can't hardly wait!
  9. I would definitely call your doctors office tomorrow and explain what is going on with the nurse. Just to be sure.

    what made you decide?

I only want to go through this once. It seems the alternatives have a higher chance of complications or failure. I would like to lose 150-200 lbs and bypass seemed like my best option.

    Juicing!

Thanks for starting this thread. I had a juicer 20 years ago and sold it in a garage sale! The benefits you mention sound reasonable. I go for my preop visit tomorrow and will be asking about this!
  12. There are zumba "games" for Wii and Xbox. It's not as good as a real class, but they are pretty good! When I want to eat something "bad". I look up the calories (I track everything on Lose it!). Then I evaluate whether the calories are worth the taste. For example, Cinnabon cinnamon rolls are over 1000 calories each! I can't bring myself to even take a bite! Really think about everything you put in your body! I'm sure you will succeed! Look how far you've come!

    Got my Surgery Date!

I USED to have a job that was high demand and I could never take off. So to deal with the stress, I ate. Now look where I am! According to the Family Medical Leave Act , your employer must give you 12 weeks off (if you don't have sick pay they don't have to pay you either!) if you have worked there for a year. Look into it if your boss gives you any trouble. BTW my surgery is Feb 19.

    Fabulous February!

Got my date today! I was hoping for valentines day, but I go in on Feb. 19! Preop appointment is Feb 7th. I had blood drawn, EKG,and X-ray today. I'm on my way!
  15. Syntrax is good. I order it online.

    Wine....

I have become what I call a "coffee-snob". I have a machine that grinds the beans and brews the coffee BEFORE I get out of bed! I NEVER thought I could give up caffeine. I started with half and half then a couple of months ago, I switched to all decalf! I never really had a headache. I still miss the caffeine, but can make it through the day without it. Since I've given up caffeine and wine, I do sleep better!

    Going back to work

Hope it goes well! How long have you been off work?
  20. Wonderful! Keep up the good work!
  21. I am trying Syntrax cappuccino in decalf coffee. It is really good. Not so thick as some of the others. Plus it dissolves in hot coffee!
