  2. "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels." --susan maria leach before & after, second: living and eating well after weight-loss surgery.

That's a line that is helping me. Im going back and forth. is this worth it? maybe i havent tried hard enough. ect. but i know that in the end it wont matter that i cant stuff my face anymore. it wont matter that i wont have a buffet infront of me. ill have a body i've always wanted, and the health ive never had.

but this food grief is getting me. i was grieving Texas roadhouse last night. and popcorn today.

how long does it take to get over this?

Ive started prep work in my kitchen. i bought Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery: over 140 Delicious Low-Fat, High-Protein recipes to Enjoy in the Weeks, Months and Years after surgery by Patt Levine and Michele Bontempo-Saray. I started stocking my pantry according to this book so that afterwords i can live from this book for a while. (some of the recipes look amazing!)

I reorganized my kitchen so that everything would be easy access. and started getting rid of junk. (though i cant seem to push myself to get rind of my 8 boxes of thin mints. guess those will be a treat later on or something or something i can give to family.)

My doc gives a very specific week by week list of what you can have for the first 7 weeks post op. that helped me get past the grief. Like detox

  3. I eat all those things. None in excess and none everyday. Your feelings and outlook on food will change. Pre-op I was fearing this loss of food like you are. There are things I miss bring able to eat in quantity but only slightly. Feeling good, looking good, and being 110 pounds lighter is worth it.

  4. I had a gastric bypass surgery back in October. This is my first post. My question is: are these OK to eat? Is anybody else eating them? I've been eating them a couple weeks and there one of the few things that get me close to full. Ideas? Opinions?

I do them and so does my husband - both RNY-ers. You have to be careful with the sodium and carbs in them. Most if them are very carb heavy. I can only eat a couple different ones with lower carbs. I do ok with the turkey tenderloins and green Beans. We only use them for quick lunches when we can't get something a bit healthier together.

  5. I got mine at a store called Woodmans. It was even cheaper than walmart! I will have to look online for some coupons. I know Walmart has the other Protein One I used to eat by the same maker but not this new one yet. I will have to try the key lime as soon as I find it! Our stores don't have the new flavors yet and I can't see driving 45 minutes just for yogurt every time I'm out! :( then again, since it's what I eat the most of, maybe it is worth it!! I go to the dr next week in Madison, and will stock up then!

I found the bear naked granola you posted at target today. As well as your yogurt. I bought the cherry chocolate flavor. I plan for it to be my evening snack to deal with the snackiness I'm battling. Thanks for the recommendation.

  6. How are you all doing with the Vitamins? Are you still taking Bcomplex or B12? One of my coworkers said she only did it for the first year. I still do Protein Shakes, but I am trying to get most Protein from real food. I think that is one of the problems, I want to eat regular food, but can't eat much of it, so I can't get a lot of protein. Today, we're snowed in(2-3 inches), so I'm making chili. That will last a month! I guess I'll freeze it.

B12, multis, and Calcium for life. The doc will add and subtract as needed per your lab work. So, I add extra D. At one point I also took B-complex until my blood work said I didn't need it anymore. My husband took Iron for a while. BTW - I take B12 daily in sublingual form.

Now.....how about this 2 month stall? Frustrating! I need to get back into regular exercise. I've tried all the tricks with no success. Must be the exercise. I've gotten off my evening post xmas snacking jag, increased Water, etc.

And....has anyone been freaked out by being able to eat much more food now? I know it's a lot less than "regular" people but it still scares me. I'm finding if I do straight water all day instead of Crystal lite I don't have such an urge to snack at night.

  7. Sounds like we are all in the same boat. Sorry several Of us are struggling but happy I'm not alone. I went a little crazy over Xmas. Broke all sorts of rule. I've been working to be back on track and doing ok with that but still just want to eat and eat. And it seems I'm able to eat much larger quantities! Scares the hell out of me!! The scale is not moving even when I'm doing everything that would have worked before. How to get back in charge and the scale moving??!!

  8. Wondering if you ladies could help me with an issue I am having. I have a referral to go see Dr. Simon, but I found my insurance also has Dr. Graber, anyone can shed some light as to how you chose your Dr? I will like to have a gastric bypass, oh and what about the hospitals do you know anything about them? I am new to the area, and newer to the whole experience and this going back and forth looking at healthgrades is making me chicken out, please help!!!!

Dr Graber through st joes is one of the best in the state. The st joes team in the office and in the hospital was wonderful! Great aftercare too!

  9. Yep.....I cried in the mall today. I bought size 10 SKINNY jeans. I still have muscular calves but never ever could I have worn them before , let alone in a size 10!! Pre op I would think it would be a rather large miracle to get to a size 10. (Pre op i was in a 22.) And I was able to buy knee high boots to wear with them!! A look that i have always envied on others. Today was a good day.

    Happy Holidays Everyone!

    Surgery 4/22/13. Down 108 lbs.

  10. Hi everyone. I have been away for a while. I am just checking in. I had surgery on 4/4/13. My heaviest weight was 270lbs. I am down 83lbs since April. As you can imagine' date=' I am estatic. I am dealing with self-image issues because I don't always see myself the way everyone else is. I am sure that my head will catch up to my body one of these day.[/quote']

I had surgery on 4/22/13. My heaviest was 271, surgery weight was 266, and I'm at 183.5. I get lots of compliments but I feel just like you do. My head is way behind. I feel better but in my head I still see myself walking around as the fat girl. I don't want I complain but it's frustrating. I also want to go in a big, fun shopping trip but still have a ways to go so I buy a few necessities at a time because all clothes are temporary. I'm happy and trying to focus on the positive but frustrated too. Others don't seem to get that.

  11. I tried and failed at eating some leftover potroast. My pouch said NOPE. Then it said nope a couple more times for good measure.

I've have this problem with left over roasts, too. I chop them up and make them into chili. Especially pork roast. Works out great! And no waste. I will freeze the chili in small portions as well. Just an idea for you.

  12. Just had my 6 month follow up. Overall I am doing well and slightly ahead of schedule as far as weight loss. Every morning I have cottage cheese topped with fruit and almonds for Breakfast and I love it. My doc said it is fine for now but as time goes on the mushy foods will not keep me full. I love the taste and how quick and easy it is but I need new ideas now. I'm know I will not be making myself eggs in the morning. smoothies and Protein Shakes re not okay either. . Any ideas????? I appreciate it.
