  1. Ah Matilda I have a head cold too. Ive had it about 2 days and I'm fighting it off but I have 18 days till my op so it should be gone by then. Isn't it always the way, we have waited so long for the band and then get colds?

I have been doing my pre op diet for 3 days now (even though it's not supposed to start till tomorrow) and I am so tired and hungry! I am hoping that will get better as the days go on and of course it doesn't help that I feel under the weather. But all in all feeling positive for tomorrow.

How long do you have to wait for your results? What tests did you have and did they take photos?????

  2. Ah thanks ladies :rolleyes2: I am having a very positive day today. I havent been too hungry and it was still daylight when I got home from work so I am all fired up to go to the gym.

Now it's March I can actually say I am having my band before next pay day! Yippee.

    Hope you are all well?

Hi Elleaitch long time no hear. I just checked out your photos and you look amazing :w00t: hope you feel as good too? Over 70lb down, well done you. Any top tips for a newbie?

    Talk soon, take care x

  3. Good for you Matilda! I think you look lovely, but I know how you feel in yourself. I hate pictures of me. The one on my profile is quite a good one. They generally dont look so good. For me its the chins!

Hopefully we can amaze each other with the wonderful after pics very soon. I do intend to upload some more realistic pics so brace yourself lol.

  4. Hi Diznediva hope you are well. How is the diet going? I had my op yesterday at 8.45am and I feel much better than I thought. A bit sore, some mild gas pain but ok really. Just wanted to let you know its not as scary as I thought and hopefully you will do well today too. Cant wait to start this journey and share our ups and downs. P.s I am Disney mad too.

    Take care, thinking of you

    Fiona x

  5. Hi Elleaitch,

Can you remember what tests you had before your band? I have my pre op on Thurs and am a little worried.

  6. Hi Everyone, I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas?

At last January is coming to an end.

I am still waiting for a date for my op. They told me it would be done in 18 weeks and its been 16 so far. How do you all manage the holidays? I gained about 7lbs and I am working hard to get rid of them now but that has been the cycle of my life for so long now.

I have been watching the Biggest Loser season 7 on TV and it really worries me that one of the contestants has already had a gastric bypass! How did he get so big with a stomach the size of an egg??? Oh my gosh.

The other depressing thing is that I looked in the mirror at the gym and thought "who is that overweight person looking back?" I really dont recognise myself. I feel like I'm lost in there somewhere. And my surgeon was worried I would not be able to cope with looking slimmer ha ha.

Anyway I hope you are all well and doing fab. Cant wait to see more of your photos.

    Take care,

    Fiona x

  7. Hi everyone, Elleaitch Im doing fine 8 days in, how are you? Matilda every day is different isnt it? Today I feel much much better. Its been raining here for 2 days and that never puts me in a good mood. I am a sunshine girl.

Maria I am surprised how many people have hernia's fixed at the same time. I didn't know they were so common. How are you feeling today. MMM soup, the first bowl is so good.

I am going to try slim fast today because I am having mainly WW soup and yogurt and struggling to get above 500 cals which is not good. Is anyone else counting cals if yes how many are you having?

  8. Hi Everyone, Ive been MIA for a while cos there is lots going on in my life at the moment but the band is almost doing nothing. I have lost 48lb but most of that was in the beginning. I am joining weight watchers next week. I need structure. My next fill is on the 3rd of Sept. And I am supposed to have lost another 8lb by then!!!!!

Hope you are all doing well and experiencing great restriction.

Hugs and good luck to everyone xxxx

  9. Hi I loved your post on things you wont miss. It was very touching and brave of you to share, thank you. But the thing that made me smile was the Biggest Loser comment. I watch the Biggest Loser and so does my tiny sister (UK size 6) and she talks about how big they all are and I have to wait until week 6 before they are my weight. And she was always saying to me "look they can do it, you could too" But they dont have to do anything else but concentrate on their weight and they have advisors etc etc. Now I am banded (10 days in) she calls everyday to see how much weight I am losing. I know she is pleased I have done this and is trying to encourage me but sometimes it feels like pressure.

Anyway thanks for sharing and take care.

  10. Hi Ig14726, Hope you are doing fine. I had my surgey yesterday at 8.45am and I feel really well today. Much better than I thought. A bit sore, some mild gas pain but other than that ok. I have to have 3 weeks off work! Only found that out yesterday and they wont be pleased but the doctor said if I did too much and didnt heal slowly I would end up being off for a lot longer. I cant wait to start this journey and share our ups and downs. Take care,

    Fiona x

  11. Hi jacquie

My surgery is 22nd of March. I thought you might like a friend whose date was close to yours so we will be at the same stage?

    take care

    Fiona

  12. Hi Joanie, good luck for today I hope it all goes well. You will do great.

Check out my blog if you get a minute. I have made some fantastic band friends and they are the best support system in the world.

  13. Hi just wanted to share my news today with you. I went to see the surgeon and he said YES I could have the op. He has applied for funding which will take 6 weeks. He thinks I will have no problems being accepted and has not had a rejection yet!!!! Then once funding is approved they have to operate within 18 weeks. Worst case I will have a band by mid Feb. Yay.

How are you doing? I couldn't get my ticker to attach to anything lol. Maybe I need more practice.

Did you have the Lap Band or the Mid Band? My guy does the Mid Band and I must say I have never heard of it but he was singing it's praises.

Anyway must dash, hope you are well.

    take care,

    Fiona x

  14. Hi Laurel, Its lovely to have someone to share your journey with, I hope we can help each other through this exciting change. I look forward to hearing your story. Are you on any diet kind of diet yet? I am day two of a four week pre op diet and its not easy but its surprising how much will power you can muster when you have such an important goal.

    Wish you well

    take care

    Fiona

  15. Hi Liz,

I have been seeing a medical doctor for 18 months and he has now referred me to a surgeon who I will see next week. I was wondering what to expect from this appointment. I really dont think I can wait another 18 months but cannot afford to have it done privately. I would love to hear your experiences with the NHS.

  16. Hi Matilda glad to hear you are well. Only PBing twice is great, I do it about 4 times a week. And its usually the healthy stuff that does it, like tuna salad.

Hope your second fill went well. I have an appointment for the 18th of June to have a chat and maybe a fill. Still only lost 39lb total so its pretty slow going but I started a summer challenge today in blog land so maybe that will spur me on.

Keep up the good work x

  17. Hi Matilda, I started the milk diet on Friday and its torture! You are allowed 2-3 pints of half fat milk per day plus 2 small low fat yogurts. Plus diet drinks. But thats it. I went to London on Saturday and EVERYONE was eating every food from around the world. It was hellish but I got on the scales this morning and I have lost 6lb so that makes it worth it.

I have wanted to cheat but I am so terrified that they wont do the band that it stops me, even when my daughter made chocolate cup cakes yesterday.

How are you doing? Are you on a pre op diet yet, I cant remember (sorry). Does it seem like a long way off still? It does for me.

  18. Hi Matilda, how are you doing? Hope everything is ok with you. I have lost 58lb so far and I am ok with that. Slow and steady wins the race, right?

    Take care x

  19. Hi my fill was a bit of a nightmare but at least it resulted in great restriction at last. I am struggling to eat anything but the weight loss is still quite slow. I am doing ok at weight watchers. I have lost 10lb since joining and I have found the support really useful. Hope you are all doing well? I will have a flit around and check out all your profiles. I also started a new job this week. They dont know about the band and I'm not telling! Its nice to have a second chance. Plus they dont know that I have lost over 50lbs so they are not always telling me "well done". I can start again.

Keep up the good work people "hugs" to all x

  20. Hi Sammy, So sorry to hear you are suffering. It's so hard when you have pinned all your hopes on this and it doesn't work as it should. I really feel for you. I am really struggling too. I lost a lot of weight in the pre op and right after surgery but its slow going now and I didn't lose anything for 5 weeks even though I didnt eat more than 1000cals a day. I am seeing my Dr this Friday to ask for another fill. I only have 3ml in.

Check out my blog for if you have time, you might find it helps.

    The Incredible Shrinking Woman

I have found some other bloggers who say they didn't lose anything until they had the band nearly full to capacity. Hang on in there chick. You will get there in the end. xxx

  21. Hi there, thanks for my messages. I have checked out lots of scars and you are right they are all different. Some of the glues ones look great. I wish mine were glued because my stitches have been on for two weeks now and I'm hoping they have finally closed.

I love scrapbooking and card making and I belong to UK Scrapaholics. I would love to see your work. Do you have any online? I also wanted to comment on your post the other day about your inlaws. I was married for 11 years and my inlaws were just the same. Mothers of sons eh? But I spent 11 years trying to please them and it was such a waste of time because no matter how much I tried they always found something to pick on. You are a lovely person, dont waste a minute trying to be anything other than true to yourself. Its all that matters in the end.

  22. Hi We are having our surgery on the same day, 22nd of March and I would love to share your journey. Hope we can help each other :-)

    Take care

    Fiona

  23. How are you doing Jane? Hope everythings going well and wish you all the best x

    The Incredible Shrinking Woman

  24. I had weight, blood pressure, MRSA test, blood test and ECG. In and out in an hour. They did tell me to bring a yogurt with me on the day of surgery as you have to eat before you can go home. Not sure if I will want to eat so soon after the op. I go in at 7am and am home by 11am the same day. I will probably still be too dozey to eat. They also gave me body wash which is the same stuff the surgeon scrubs up with.

I am going to do the milk diet as my scales showed a 1.5lb gain this morning!! I am not happy about that but I am also worried about my liver not shrinking enough. Thats my greatest fear. The nurse did my BMI today and it was 49.9. She said "oh you dont look that huge",

    well thanks for that.:glare:

But its done now and I am on my way. Does it feel real to you now? I dont think it will really sink in until the surgery day. I hope I dont chicken out. I dont think I will but you never know.
