  1. I think what she meant by 'pretend I had the surgery' was to follow the diet as if I already had it and it will help in losing weight before the surgery.
  2. I'm ok. Still waiting to hear, and getting more anxious each day I wait. I'm still convinced something will go wrong (again) that will stall, or stop, this from happening. If I could just hear back and get a date I would be do relieved!
  3. Check with your nutritionist. I've always been told you should take 30 mins to eat your meal so you don't eat too quickly. Also you don't want to measure what you're eating by time, you need to measure by quantity.
  4. You'll get there! I haven't even bought a scale, and don't plan to until I lose at least half of my goal. I don't want to feel discouraged, so I'll just get weighed in at the doctors office.
  5. Well how are you supposed to drink your iced coffee then lol
  6. Really? I've never heard that. Why can't you use straws? A friend of mine drinks with straws all the time and she had the surgery.
  7. I'm planning on being out for a week and a half. Mainly because that's all the vacation time I have. But I do have sick time just in case I need a few more days. I sit at a desk all day so as long as I don't have any complications I should be fine.
  8. Better to do it now than when you're trying to chase around a toddler lol Congrats!
  9. You're not a failure. It's a struggle for all of is. If it was easy we wouldn't need the surgery. It's going to take a long time to make the changes, but it's good that you're starting now. Keep it up and don't get discouraged. Stay focused on the long term goal.
  10. Not everyone gets it. My friend had the surgery last year and she didn't have a drain at all.
  11. I work for Nestlé. We have 3 brands of iced tea. Nestea, Sweet Leaf, and Tradewinds. They all have diet teas, though none are caffeine free. Tradewinds also has an unsweetened tea that you could sweeten with Splenda or liquid stevia to your liking.
  12. Thanks. I just hope I don't have to wait too long for an answer.
  13. Yesterday I heard that I've been submitted and am awaiting approval. Today I'm very extra emotional. I think it's because I just feel like something is going to go wrong again. I've had so many issues with trying to get this surgery done.....as much as I WANT it, I guess I just don't see it happening anymore. I feel like instead of waiting for approval, I'm just waiting to be let down again :-/
  14. I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt, maybe she was on vacation for the holidays and it took her some time to catch up
  15. Thanks! She said UHC usually takes 2-3 weeks. I hope not that long!
  16. Just got the call that I was submitted earlier this week. Aaaaaaand now we wait
  17. Just called me, she submitted me earlier this week :-D
  18. Don't know. They said they'd be submitting me right after the first of the year and now I can't get them to answer me....
  19. I have no patience! LOL I originally started this in 2009, my patience is verrrry thin lol I HOPE they call me tomorrow!
  20. My situation is a little different. My (ex)best friend was extremely supportive, and had the surgery herself this past year. We were supposed to be surgery buddies. Our friendship ended because of her constantly lying to me and doing drugs (yes, post op as well). With my surgery coming up, I just can't have the negativity and stress that the friendship was giving me. It still kills me that I had to cut ties with one of my biggest supporters, but I feel like I really had no other choice. The only real non-supporter is my grandfather. He's just old and set in his ways lol.
  21. I've called my surgeon's office twice now in the last week to see if they've submitted me for approval yet, and no one has called me back. Getting very frustrated. They're usually really good at keeping in contact.
  22. I've checked my insurance coverage at least a dozen times since I started this process. Everything tells me the same thing, 80% of eligible expenses. Problem is, I can't, for the life of me, find anything that explains what the eligible/non-eligible expenses are! Anyone have a clue? I have UHC.
  23. That definitely sounds wrong. I'd call the billing department at the hospital tomorrow. Also call your insurance. The average cost is $20000 I think. Does it have a breakdown of the charges?
