  1. Oh no! I hope it's not bleeding for you! :( How did you know/find out you had it? I'd like to compare experiences...

they found it during an egd thankfully, no its not bleeding what was causing the bleeding was that my jp tube punctured my abdomen wall :0 they discovered this yesterday, so this is why I have been so nauseous, so much pain, unable to eat, so hoping they were able to seal the leak, close the puncture and now on high doses of prilosec and zantac to help with the healing of the tissues and the ulcer, I'm glad to hear that yours is on the mend thats wonderful! its amazing how the stomach is such a strong vital organ but when it's down, man it's down.

  2. So' date=' tomorrow I go and have my 2nd egd to check the status of my ulcers. This is sooo not fun. :( Anyone else having problems with these?[/quote']

they found an ulcer on my last egd but I have a leak they are fixing first , however I have had blood in my jp tube so I wonder if it has become a bleeding ulcer so I can empathize with you

  3. I am so thirsty and tired of Water and crystal light flavors and poweraide zero. they make me more thirsty.

no i dont want a soda pop but has to be something we can have

how about lemon water or fruit infused water, drop your.own fruit In the water or make ice cubes with fruit puree so when it melts it flavors your water.? Those are suggestions my nut gave me and I am diabetic so the sugar content should not be an.issue, and of course trying different teas those have been life savers

  4. Just hope that taking the steroids and insulin won't impair the weight loss' date=' may have to give up my place on the loser's bench for a while...LOL! Will be interesting to see if it is impacted at all.[/quote']

hope you start feeling better, just as some encouragement I have been on steroids since before my surgery and needed two additional shots

this week for a flare, of course every one is different, as it affects))( your weight loss it might slow it down a bit since it might be Fluid retention or increased appettite

you must try to stick. to.you plan as much as possible and try not to.get

  5. I'm 10 months post op and I have cottage cheese for breakfast' date=' Protein shake for snack, Soup for lunch and somthing small for dinner. After surgery I totally do not like meat any more so I will be drinking my Protein for ever. I like to each low fat cheeses, veggies, pretzels, nuts, seeds etc. Also you may want to check with your surgeon and se what they suggest you be eating.[/quote']

I was wondering today if I would become a vegetarian because even the smell of meat makes me sick, during the liquid phase, chicken broth and beef broth both made me so so sick, and I have tried chicken and beef in small portions does not agree with me right now at all :(

  6. first be warned this is detailed and graphic..... so through out this my surgery date was 12/17/12 and with all the complications have had the flu, have had flare ups of my autoimmune disorder and now a severe infection in my jp tube where I such a high fever was projectile vomiting, foamies, because there is nothing in my pouch every 5 min and lethargic , sorry for being so graphic, so I could not eat or drink anything in my plan everything was too rich , well after god love my pcp finally gives me a suppository for nausea and sleep , I broke the rules yes yes I know but I became desperate... it is the only thing I knew from before that might work crackers and ginger ale. I'm not speaking bags of crackers and bottles , just a few here and there and a few sips, than worked up to broccoli cheese Soup and toast, and diffrent teas , tried a chicken veg soup and came back up chicken is a no no for my poor pouch right now even chicken stock!! so my question to you guys what do you do on your sick days? have you gone to "old" measures and if not how do you cope? the first time I just did Water and lemon and teas that did not help calm things as fast as the crackers and ginger ale and teas and this was day two and three but I am open to suggestions thanks everyone

  7. congratulations on the weight loss to everyone any number is phenomenal! especially when we take great strides to hit them. It upsets me when people say " you took the easy way out" especially when people who have medical conditions which prevent you from excersising, which affect your joints, your heart, your lymphatic.system, which made you take medication that made you gain weight , people who speak with no knowledge behind their words, than to get this surgery than have complications, or to not have them but need to retrain your body, mind and soul to eat again, deal with nausea, vomiting, Hair loss, loose skin, dizziness, lack of energy, roller coaster of emotions! This is a healthy free of complications person not to mention all of us who have secondary complications who are.still dealing with things and they think we took the easy way out ? Truly upsetting these people need some education in their lives. on a seperate note I have been doing this to help with nausea and came across this article this morning if anyone is interested.

hope you guys have a blessed day !

  8. I am very excited' date='but I wish I would know for sure. Still no call. I am sorry you have had such a difficult time. I am stopping my lupus med for now too. It is so harsh on my stomach, I am afraid to take it. I am averaging about the same calories on my previous opp diet, but it is mostly from Protein. Whatever you do....check with the doc first so you don't hurt your tummy. Did you go for the sleeve then? How has it Ben hunger wise? One of my biggest fears is that I still won't feel full. My parents are on their way from out of state to help my hubby and kids. That way he can be there with me.....do thou have family? Are you all healed now and has the leak stopped?[/quote']

No I went the agressive route and got the rny after all hunger there this none I have to force myself to eat, you will be surprised , however i am so nauseoues all the time especially first thing in the am and in the eve I take anti nausea meds, I had my mom here helping me but she finally went home, no the leak is not closed yet they tried glue and clips now they will need a stent, hoping that works if not it will require another.trip to the or , I have done all med changes under my pcp and rhuemy so careful supervision but I'll tell ya I'm lucky I have been off of work and that I had the extra help because with the complications and this.flare it's been a battle, I hope you got your clearance and everything is good to go just came across this recipe-site you may find it helpful?

  9. Hi Cyn' date=' yes I am on MFP my name there is KatsMFP. Doing well on the pre-op diet, supposed to have surgery tomorrow, but I caught a little cold so I have to go down there so my surgeon can check out my lungs....I'm still waiting for the call but they did move up my surgery. If I get the all clear, I have to check in at 7. As for the strict meal plan afterwards, I have come to terms with it and feel confident I can stick to it. How are you doing? I don't remember if you were pre-op or not....where are you in your journey, and are your health issues causing problems for you?[/quote']

yay , your surgery got moved up are you excited ? my d.o.s 12/17 to.date I have lost 43 lbs including preop, however I have not been able to do much working out or focusing on Protein intake , I was in the hospital from the 17 -28 spent xmas confined to bed, due to high steroids have a leak that will not close , had tpn in for 3 wks, still have my drain in , severe nausea and pain, hopefully will get my stent placed.soon, all in.all, my diabetes is better, but can't go back on my still's meds yet just taking the bare minimum so it's been hard I'm thinking a strickter diet might be good for me too even though I'm only averaging 500-600 a day . I pray that you are well enough to go through the surgery let me know if you have any questions. Best of luck

  10. I will have to ask about almond milk. I have never had it. I'm glad I am not alone in this. As for healthy carbs...he requires so many Vitamins (chewable or liquid) that I don't know how I will be hungry at all. I am concerned about no vegg but I will just have to stick it out' date=' lose as fast as possible and then I can have them gain. I am thankful for everyone who responded....I feel much better now. I can do this. I am so thankful to this site. I am going to share it with everyone at my first support group.

Thank you all and God bless!

    Kat

Oh I also forgot to answer that question ....I am still pre-op just trying to lay some questions to rest. I will have surgery on feb 6th at Park Veiw in riverside Ca with Dr. Krahn...(spelling?)[/quote']

  11. Omg me too. I got so sick I started puking blood. Called my doctors and they told me to go back onto liquid stage but now my tummy hurts. I am also having buyers remorse. This feeling is horrible and I hope it goes away soon.

I feel like we all might go through this at some point, we feel sick, have buyers remorse, or are stuck in complication land! we need to find the strength to believe in the process and pray that everything will be ok as we achieve our goals and remember why we did this in the first place! best of luck to you ladies

  12. Cyn' date=' I would disagree with this. 500 Cal won't allow you to meet your Protein goals....and will keep your body in starvation. Passing out is bad. Please meet with your nut and see what you can do to supplement it. I use nuts and cheese when necessary.[/quote']

this is the informamtion that I have received from my surgeon as someone who has complications, I'm sure everyone is different and every plan its different. I of course am a firm believer of listening to your body above all ! And always consult your medical team we are here for personal advice because sometimes that wisdom does help ;)

  13. I eat at less than is normal at 8 weeks post op because my stomach is so sensitive. I eat 2 oz of food 3 times a day' date=' and I don't do shakes because they make me vomit. I focus on staying hydrated and I mainly eat fish or chicken for my meals bc it's high in Protein. I have a health food scale and yes I weigh my food. I cook 4 oz at a time and make it into two different servings.[/quote']

I have antinausea medication, eat very slowly, take two bites chew really slow wait to see the response from my stomach. sip tea, or hot lemon Water, for some reason hot water helps, eat only when hungry, do not eat when there are strong smells present ,those bother me also. Funny its become a process :( all to avoid vomiting !
