  1. I cramped too for about 2 weeks. Take your pain killers. Remember that you did just have major surgery and your insides have been rerouted. Remember not to lift anything over 10 lbs for the first 6 weeks. Good chance you can pull something apart.

  2. Are you totally sure? There could be a good chance that your body is holding on to the lbs because you're in starvation mode. Try on some of your clothes cause I bet your size has decreased.

It took me 3 months post op to stop letting that darn scale drive me cRaZy!

  3. This happened with me when I was using 8 oz of non fat milk to mix with it. It just felt way too heavy on my tummy.

I stared cutting it with Water. 4 oz of Water and 4 oz of non fat milk and changed my Protein to BlueBonnet...its really smooth and mixes very well. No grit to the taste... But very pricey.

  4. If you need a drink take a few sips because you probably could use the wetness.

I do the same thing too. If I grow funny about drinking Water with my meal I'll take a few bits of watermelon after dinner and the wetness from it usually helps quinch my thirst.

  5. Keep it pushing... Awesome job! Remember you'll stall every 3-4 weeks and it'll last for 1 to 2 weeks then your weight loss will kick back in... Don't get discourage cause your size will still decrease but the scale will tease you.

  6. I'm worried that after I have my surgery I'm still not gonna have energy. I have hardly any right now. I don't wanna do anything. That is mostly why I want the surgery to lose the weight and have more energy to do things with the kids.

I'm glad you are having great success with your surgery. Hopefully u will hit your goal and not go too much lower.

I think when you have your surgery your "self drive" will kick in... OR I'll be knocking at your door and dragging you out to walk. The more I exercised the more energy I have. If I take a week off... Buy boy boy can I feel it. Like this past week!!! My fiance had a vacation week and we just lounged. Never again!!!

    You'll do good!

Hey FYI Kaiser has a great support group that I attend. It's open to all pre and post baristric patients. It's every 2nd and 4th Thursday and they even do clothes Trade drives every few months. You should go to ask questions and hear stories.

  7. Oh Em Gee... This is all such great advice. What I've done was trimmed it to my bra strap. I cut about 4 inches of. It's still long but not where it was. I'm thinking about dying it jet black and buying so new full clip ons to hold me over.

  8. Leticia' date=' it seems we have a few things in common, besides the same surgeon. You sound like you are doing quite well. How has everything been going for you health wise since your surgery?[/quote']

Everything is going awesome. I'm only 3.5 months out and only 15 lbs to my goal weight. I'm so away above schedule my PA Diane is upping my calories by doubling them. Which to me is impossible to eat and she wants me to up up up my carbs too. No more cardio only muscle building. She said the rate I'm going I'll be 120 at my 1 year anniversary which we BOTH don't want to see. I wanna stay or be above 150.

Directed by the PA I was eating 800 calories and was told to exercise daily. She didn't know that I was gonna beast it and burn 1000+ calories a day. LOL

I haven't had any complications except 2 weeks ago I had to go to Damron for some extra fluids. Apparently my body couldn't handle a high impact cardio in 100 degree weather for 5 days straight. LMBO

Even tho I was drinking like 4 bottles of Water during my workout it still wasn't enough. I've learned not to over do it again. LOL But for some reason I just can't get into muscle building. Still working at it ;-)

  9. Thank you so much. I will let you know when I am scheduled. So we can meet. I have four kids' date=' just celebrated my oldest birthday yesterday. She is 22 and my youngest is going to be 5 next month. I work for a dr in Lodi and she is all for my surgery. She is the best. She is letting me take time off for all my appointments. I feel so blessed. My friend had surgery with dr corin in feb, she had the sleeve and has already lost over 100 lbs. She is the one that talked me into the surgery. Well I wanted to do it but she told me how easily she got everything started with hers and told me to call to go to the seminar. So I have to thank her for all of it. But I've been thinking about it for years. I'm anxiously waiting for my surgery date now. And a little nervous too I haven't been under 220 since I was 16.[/quote']

Oh wow I have 4 kids too. My oldest is 21 and my youngest just turned 2 last week.

  10. Leticia' date=' I am having it at Dameron also. I'm excited but nervous too. How long ago was yours?[/quote']

I had mine on 3/16/13.. I'm only 3 months post op. I love all the nurses there. My honey delivers medical equipment to them plus I was in the hospital with pneumonia for a week during Christmas so I really got to know everyone. But during my surgery they gave a bariatric coordinator RN that will come to your room several times a day. She had surgery Jan of this year and has been through it all. She also provides the support groups for damron too. I really loved how she personally spent time with me and answered all my questions and shared her experience. Since you ONLY get to talk to Dr Coats 5 mins before surgery this was a treat.

You should tell me your survey fate so I can come visit you and bring you a get well gift ;-) I'm a stay at home mom and I live like 4 exits away so if you need company let me know. I tell funny jokes too. LOL

I'm so excited for you... You will do well. One of the nurses there Nurse Jamelia is having her surgery in Sept. She logs on here too occasionally but works long hours.

  11. Ok first batch was a little flat. My second batch I added twice as much cream of tartar (1/2 tsp) and beated the egg white mixture longer until it really looked like a cloud.

    Came out really good.

I made my 2 yr old grilled cheese sandwiches out of it and she killed them.

Top and bottom slice is 5 grams of Protein. I'm not really hungry right now so I'm eating mine with a turkey patty for dinner.

  12. Hi Leticia' date='

Dr Coates is also doing mine, when did u have yours? I'm curious what comes next, I go to my pre op nutrition class on the 16 th and Jennifer put in for auth on Wednesday from my insurance. She said it usually takes 7 days to get auth. Waiting to see where I go next.[/quote']

I dealt with Jennifer too.. LOL. It'll happen pretty fast. As soon ad Jennifer put in for my Author she called me the same week saying my surgery was scheduled for that time the following week.

What hospital are you having it at?

  13. Oh no... Monthly cycles are my sore subject after WLS. I actually got my period the day I was discharged then it disappeared for almost 2 months. When it did come back .... Whew !!! It gave a new meaning to "monthly flow". My period is so so heavy now. My Dr has me taking an extra Iron pill during my cycle.

My Dr said the more weight loss you have the more your period will get heavy because when the fat is removed your hormones ate allowed to surface more and until your body learns to balance this new increase of hormones your cycles will hit HARD.

  14. I'm 5 years out and steadily gaining my weight back. I'm now post menopausal with a stressful' date=' desk job. I try to get out to walk daily but even that takes committment to pull myself away from my desk. I don't really have any problems with any foods, never had. I've never thrown up post surgery and felt like my impulse to eat was stronger than the surgery! Anyone in the same boat? Were you able to turn it around? I am so embarrassed because everyone knows I've had surgery and is watching me gain the weight back. WTH??!![/quote']

How much have you gained back?

    ~Leticia **HW: 259**PreOp: 216**SURG: 3/21/13 **Discharged @: 221** 3 mons post op. CW: 165.0 lbs. --- Only 15 lbs to my goal ---

  15. So I just hit my 3 month post op point and my hair is thinning out on schedule. I'm a little torn between cutting it or ride'n this out.

I've always had this vision to be this slender African American cute girl with long hair. I've been growing it since 2009 so its between my bra and mid waist line.

I'm thinking maybe I should ride it out.. increase my Biotin and just hope it'll start slowing down and filling in and keep wearing my clip ins to help make it fuller. But... It may never fill in nice.

Or.... I was going to cut it in a sexy A-Line Bob and dye it jet black which will make it look fuller. A new hair cut to go with my new body.

    What do you guys think?

    HELP!
