Worst comment you've heard so far
bakawaka replied to michelecaples's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All human beings have a streak of cruelty. I ave experienced complete strangers commenting on my weight, complete strangers asking me why my teeth were yellow, my own father and classmates imitating my involuntary tics, and being called a faggot everyday at school (middle and high). This dados tic streak can surface in the kindest of people. It is an inherent part of human nature. Sometimes you will experience it with your closest loved ones. And sometimes you will encounter it in yourself when you are laughing at or making fun of another human being, perhaps another loved one. This is my observation after 49 years of life. -
salmon works great for me as long as i chew it into a puree. the only problem i had was that i was eating so much salmon, all of my body was beginning to smell liked salmon. I found my salmon odor repulsive so had to switch off the salmon, even though i love it and it is full of wonderful, healthful oils for the body.

Fatigue Decreasing; Drain is Gone
bakawaka replied to bakawaka's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The drain truly caused pain - probably because it was in for so long. I had to go through airport security 4 times with that drain (but everything went smoothly). I am so happy to no longer have it. Truly liberating! -
Got rid of my drain today. It did hurt to have the drain removed but it was not agony. The pain was brief. I immediately felt relief. I had to wear the drain for 2.5 weeks and it was a major source of pain and muscle spasms. I also notice that my fatigue is decreasing. I definitely am gaining strength ad energy. One new challenge is constipation.

Fatigue Decreasing; Drain is Gone
bakawaka replied to bakawaka's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The drain was very painful for me. I had muscle spasms when walking. As soon as the drain was removed the muscle spasms stopped. Drain removal was painful because it had been in for so long. But now it's out and I feel much better. -

i watched my father abuse my mother over several years during my childhood. She had a very bad weight problem and was determined to control her. One way he would control her is that he would buy several gallons of ice cream and many boxes of chocolate candy to feed her addition, keep her morbidly obese and completely dependent. It was a horrible home environment to grow up in. All i can say is that my sister and i begged our mother to divorce our father but he would always threaten to keep her in poverty. We become more vulnerable to supposed "love ones" and some of those "loved ones" are manipulators. It was a very bad environment. My only advice is to free yourself from that control and manipulation. Wishing you the greatest of success in your weight loss journey!

Anyone tried sushi yet?
bakawaka replied to Amandabythepound's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i tried sashimi (without any rice) and it went down great and was delicious. It's the first time I could be satisfied with just 4 pieces of tuna sashimi instead of 10-20 pieces. a victory! i chose tuna sashimi because it is high in protein. -
Do You Have Days Post-op When You Do Not Fee Like Eating?
bakawaka posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 2.5 weeks post-op. Today is the first day post-hospital when I truly do not feel like eating. I am thirsty and am drinking. But I simply have no appetite. I experienced this right after surgery. But this is the first time since being at home. Might it be caused by having eaten too much on other days? Does anyone else experience this? What might be the cause of this? Does it go away? Thanks for any insights. Wishing everyone the greatest of success on his or her weight loss journey! -

Depressed To Realize It's Come To This.
bakawaka replied to jodimc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i have been rather emotional after the surgery myself. but i also feel this enormous sense of gratitude for the surgery: gratitude that it exists, gratitude that there are brilliant surgeons who devote their careers to helping bariatric patients, grateful to the nurses who worked so hard to provide care post op. i'm so grateful this technology exists. i've watched relatives who are now elderly and paying a very high price for always having been obese. it's a privilege to have this surgery from my point of view. and this feeling of gratitude transcends the feeling of depression about not "being able to do it my own." -

they sent me home with lortab (hydrocodone) - very foul tasting but it does help -
i actually have experienced more pain 2.5 weeks post op than i did in the hospital - and that is because i had excellent pain management in the hospital. i stopped the painkiller (lortab) 2.5 weeks post op - and that was a mistake. but i wanted to get off the lortab because it makes my thinking cloudy. i wish everyone success! i remain grateful to everyone on this forum who has shared experiences. i am trying to share mine to make a contribution back to the community my advice is: keep taking your pain medication. now i know why my surgeon gave me 3 refills on the lortab

i must say that i have experienced a lot of incision pain post-op - but i still am so glad i did the surgery and i would do it all over again (pain and all). i do not have buyer's remorse - even with the pain.

Help migraine & sick child
bakawaka replied to TinyMamiOf3kids's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My physician prescribed Maxalt for migraines - you can buy it in a form that dissolves in Water. Maybe that could help. I know what a migraine feels like and hope you feel better soon.
