Thank u! That's very nice of u to say!!!
  4. Today I stepped on the scale at home and it said 199. I am under 200 which hasn't happened in 9 years. Small milestone but still in shock. Surgery date 10/25 starting weight 289, now 199!!!

    Under 200

I am not and have never been a fitness person. I focus on my portions and eat slowly. I walk instead of workout hardcore. Head hunger is the hardest part in my opinion. If I get a craving or want a bigger portion I wait before actually eating something. I remind myself that this isn't Ethiopia, the food isn't going anywhere, if I am still hungry in 30 mins I can eat another few bites, but usually by that time, I m not hungry. I also try to have a realistic goal in mind. I'm never gonna be a fitness model, I am going to be a healthy version of the woman I have always been.
  6. I know what u mean. I keep some of my old clothes around to remind myself how far I ve come. Its hard when the chart still lists u as overweight and ur doing all u can.

    Burping

Only if I take too big of a bite or do something I am not supposed to like drink something while eating
  8. I had my surgery October 25th and start weight was 289, current weight is 208 so 81lbs so far. Thanks, sometimes I get discouraged, but I just try to concentrate on my portions.
  9. Yesterday I went to the mall to get a manicure and I went into Macy's just to try the clothes. I headed for the "normal" section and grabbed a couple pairs if size 16 pants. I put them on in the dressing room and to my surprise they fit. Like not just barely zipped but fit. Its been nine years since I have shopped in any other section besides plus size. I was so overwhelmed I sat down on the bench and teared up. Its those moments that make all the struggles worth it.

  12. Had the surgery in October. My hair started falling out about a month ago and its like big clumps. What's the deal?! I m eating all the protein I can. Anyone else experience this?

    Hair falling out!

Thanks terry. That helped a lot. I was ok at first but it just keeps coming out. Lol every time I just try and remind myself it will stop. Then I just think if it all falls out I m going to get a her black wig. Always wanted black hair.

    Hair falling out!

Thanks ladies. Think I ll cut my hair a little shorter, may be easier to deal.
  15. So I ve worn pajamas at home and sweats pants in public but I am down 70lbs and decided that was enough for me to reward myself with jeans. Well I had a hell of a time. It was exhausting, wasn't sure of my size so I had to try on 4 different sizes and don't even get me started on trying to buy a new bra. Went to three stores and I was shopping for six hours. I eventually did find pants but it was like I didn't know my body anymore which is unsettling. Can't complain about this to my friends cause they don't want to hear me whine about how much weight I lost and how its hard. It really took a mental readjustment to look in the mirror and shop for the new me. I thought after weight loss shopping would be fun, but nope just like before, exhausting!

    Burnt out

I had three abscesses and had to have two additional surgeries and was on a wound vacuum for two months. I haven't had bowel obstruction but I know how it is to hit some road blocks. Keep strong, reach out to ur loved ones for emotional support. I swear one the problem is resolved u will love ur WLS. Keep being strong.

    Ready to SHOCK ya!

How awesome! That moment must've been worth all the struggles! Happy for u.
  18. I ate some chicken dip really soon after surgery and threw up so much I swore never again and I haven't. Sometimes I think its good thing so that when I see those off limit foods I associate them with that feeling. But we are fighting a mental battle as well as a physical one. Just be careful its not a slippery slope, today its a chicken wing, tomorrow its pizza, we all know how that story goes.

    If One More Person!

I make no attempt to be private about my surgery since I live in a small town and I ran into someone's mom yesterday that I hadn't seen since the surgery. She asked me how much weight I d lost and what my goal was. I ve lost 70 and my goal is 70 more so I will be 5'8" and weigh about 155. She really said to me oh that's too much you will look way too skinny at 155. What I wanted to say I won't repeat here but I replied with a well that is what my doctor and I have decided is my goal based on the medical benefits not on vanity. Ahh! Do they think they are complimenting me by saying I look good fatter or what?! Hate that!

    normal or not?

I am three months post op and at first I felt pressure when I was full. Now I get sorta hungry and its not really full but the hunger goes away. If I eat a spoonful more than my portion I am very nauseous, to the point I dry heave, sometimes vomit. I struggle with the mental adjustment of not eating the last bite or thinking the portion is so small. So right now I am working on recognizing the absence of hunger and leaving the rest when that comes, no more cleaning your plate! Lol
  21. Recently I made a post saying the bat wings are not bat wings, they are angel wings. I would love to hear more negatives turned into positives, please share! Like this Not stretch marks - earned tiger stripes
  22. Wooooo! Congrats on ur first goal. It's funny I always celebrated personal triumphs with food like nice dinners out or cake, but now I have to find a different way to celebrate.
  23. I think we need to start saying in the pre op threads to remember that WLS doesn't make your body perfect. You are still going to dislike certain parts of your body. In fact I bet if you ask a size 2 woman what she dislikes about her body she can still come up with ten answers. Whenever I start to feel those negative body thoughts creep into my head I force myself to remember the woman who had the confidence to not only appear in public in a bathing suit before WLS but who had the courage to say enough is enough and get the surgery done. Stretch marks are evidence of earning my tiger stripes and they are not bat wings, they are angel wings. Lord knows with being overweight and having surgery I ve been through the jungle and through hell and made my way out.
  24. Wow to all the losses and congrats Surgery was 10-25-12 @ 289lbs Today I am 229lbs so a 60lb loss for me.
