Sleep Study?
I've had sleep apnea probably all my life. Been on Cpap 16 years & would surely be dead without it. It is not always weight related; weight just makes it more obvious. I could weigh 110 & still need to be on Cpap albeit at a lessor pressure. Weight loss does not necessarily = cure. Most PCP's aren't trained to screen for OSA.

My jeans are loose everywhere except the waist. I think there is still swelling in the abdomen? Other parts seem to be getting smaller, just not the waist. Guess it will happen in due time. I'm 2 weeks out & have lost 23.5 lbs. I understand what you're saying about same jeans being tight.- Protein Drinks
I like Chike protein. It's pricey but the price of 2 tubs is about equal to what my bf & I would spend going out for a nice meal. It's worth it to me to find something I can finish + it has 28 gms of protein.- Protein drink mix-ins
Which yogurt are you using? I've been searching for a low sugar one and best I've found is 9 gms for plain. Most have high 20's & I was kind of shocked by that. Haven't seen anything with 0 sugar. Thx- Protein drink mix-ins
I'm not allowed a fruit mix in until tomorrow & I'm 2 weeks out. Clears were week one, full liquid, week 2 & I start purée tomorrow. Only certain canned soft fruits are allowed. Each program has different requirements even preop. I never had to do liquid diet up front & had no complications.- New 1 A Day Bariatric Vitamin!
- Tighten upper legs.
Recumbent bike is the one where you sit down with legs in front of you instead of under you. My former gym had an Arc trainer (by Cybex) that was awesome for that area. Something like a stairclimber would work or you can do lunges & squats. They suck but really help.- Please Help
- So upset right now
I would ask if they could order a stool culture especially with the antibiotic use history. Like another poster said, c diff is often caused by antibiotics ( if that is what you have) . Stool culture will rule it in or out. I would call back and insist. Also, there is something called Just a Drop that helps with smelly poo when you have to go at work, etc. You put a drop in commode before you go & it helps eliminate odor.- Multivitain With Iron
I like those too & you can buy them at walgreen's. I always get the $5 off coupon from the website too.- Protein Shots
Melting mama & Eggface did a video review of one a month or two ago. Had "ice" in the name. The video is on Melting Mama's blog. It was whey isolate if I remember correctly & came in 3 flavors. Drugstore.com sells it. I was considering it but can't find anywhere that sells just one, only a case. If it's anything like Isopuke, I don't want to be stuck with a case.- in dire need of a soda!
I was hooked on Pepsi. I was able to quit it once before when I lost 100 lbs about 4 yrs ago but when I gave in to my desires for it (and other bad things), I put all my weight back on plus 10. I kept thinking one (or two) won't hurt anything. This is why I now am 11 days post op. Pepsi was a gateway to sugar and carb cravings for me so I know better than to go there again even though I too think about wanting it. Think about what soda did for you before surgery even if it was diet. Soda inhibits calcium absorption and is bad for the teeth (diet formula too). The carbonation is very bad for the pouch. Think of what is bad about it rather than how much you want it. It's all in the head and is your enemy.- November 2012 Members Post Op
- Calcium
Currently using Opurity chewables from Unjury but not real crazy about them. It's been hard to find a chewable or liquid calcium citrate locally. Everything is calcium carbonate or triphosphate & those don't absorb as well & end up being a waste of money vs health benefit.- Protein
I would like to have a copy of the list too. mom2farfel@aol.com Thanks so much!- November Dates

Sitting up in recliner, having gas pain & throat is really sore. Dry mouth sux. Only 1 oz ice chips per hour allowed. I don't feel as bad as I thought I would, haven't had pain med since recovery room. Doc said he made 6 holes for access but I haven't peeked yet. Walkies soon- November Dates
Getting ready to leave for the hospital. Talk to y'all on the other side of surgery.- Last Clearance Before Pre-Op Appt
Yay! That's good news!- November Dates
Got the call from the hospital to be there at 6 tomorrow morning - OMG this is going to happen!! I need my preop anti-anxiety drug injection NOW! I hope everyone from today is doing well after their surgery. Suz- Workout Playlist...
Check out rockmyrun.com. They have playlists by type of music & time.- Balancing Act
BB how soon could you exercise post surgery? Walking is immediate but I know I will be counting the days until I can get back to the gym. Surg is Tuesday & I forgot to ask the surgeon on my preop visit. I just want a general idea re time.- Sleep Apnea
Yes I go through periods of that kind of sleep. I know you're not supposed to but I take it off at that point & go back to sleep. If you are on ramp, try turning machine off & let it ramp up again & try to listen to the white noise of the machine & relax. Hopefully you will go back asleep. I've been on Cpap 16 years & will never be off of it. I lost 100 lbs to healthy bmi on my own a few years ago, had new sleep study & doc said OSA was not caused by weight (although that makes it worse) & I will always be on machine due to my head/neck anatomy. I hope that you will be able to come off quickly after surgery. - Feeling some kind of way
