  1. SOME people will - some won't - have a good friend who does NOT dump - the actual statistic is 30% of patients dump I'm pre surgery - and diabetic - and that sugar free stuff flys right thru me - I have it when I'm constipated - so I know all the sugar free stuff doesn't agree with me already There is no one size fits all - and in the end - none of us can tell you what will happen to you
  2. I’d have to ask him or her which he or her has performed more of - what are his or her stats - how many have they done - what success stories can they share - might be that your surgeon is biased because of experience - imho.
  3. I’m so excited - I had my #4 of 6 yesterday - I love my PCP - and he’s so supportive of this decision. I’m scared to death - but I feel like I should be - this is a major major major decision. When was your surgery k? and that was your 1000th post - congrats girl.
  4. I have two more visits and 53 days before I get my referral to surgeon. Cannot wait.
  5. this is the #1 reason I will be most likely rny - 89% remission rate - we will always “be” diabetic - but we can certainly put it in remission...which is my prayer.
  6. Ditto here - 4th preop (of mandatory 6) today AND this week I scheduled my last 2. I am getting excited. I'll probably be surgical in the spring - ill do whatever it takes to be sooner but am resolved if it's spring.
  7. I'm pre surgery and still debating sleeve v rny. Thank you both for sharing.
  8. I’m still pre-op - BUT - when I take blood thinners (including over the counter for headache meds) I have break through bleeding... I’m interested in seeing what happens to you - i’m right behind you.
  9. So your on nothing and they are just waiting and seeing?
  10. I’m a dawn riser -- with seriously high numbers when I fast - I’d imagine I’ll be right there with you too... did they keep you on anything?
  11. I’m sure ALL of the tests are to cover their bottom - a friend had vsg in mexico and only had ONE blood test pre-op. I have a list of 8 things...most invasive.
  12. Fair enough - still seems like a waste of time if one has had recent surgeries.
  13. and why would that be more prevalent post operatively? aren’t there all kinds of alleluia my sleep apnea was gone in X number of days post surgery? wasn’t my dr who I’ve seen for 12 yrs caring about my impending sleep doom? it doesn’t make sense unless it’s to say how much the dr’s and hospitals have “cured” me post operatively. seems pretty horse out of the barn let’s close the doors lucy to me.
  14. already know I have co-morbidities - can’t for the life of me understand why I need to know if I have “more” than the 2 confirmed ones.
  15. I can wait...and I can’t wait!!!
  16. I’m in pre-op purgatory - and really would love a jar of kalamata olives (ok a few not a jar) but since I weigh in like every few weeks I’ve been avoiding them...I spend so much time analyzing what I will be able to eat - I thought I’d throw out there some things that make me happy and see what the guru’s say... Thank you all - you made me a happy gal today.
  17. I love pickles and olives and anything briny - Can you eat that post op?
  18. You have a case - esp seeing your still out of work
  19. Do u have a good workers comp attorney?
  20. We went to one of those brazilian steakhouses in september and I maybe ate a 1/4 of what I could - I’m so ready - mentally - physically - everything - and for that I will give the nut props - despite her not being in favor of surgery. I know that I will still be the same girl when this is over - regardless of what size jeans I wear - my problems aren’t going to vanish - and I’m excited more than anything about being able to move.
  21. I think there’s a BIG difference between a “general” nut and a “bariatric” nut My general nut is NOT a fan of my high Protein ways - My diet is protein and veggies - she wants me to add carbs (even refined) and fruits - which my diabetic body does NOT care for (well I do - but my blood sugars DO NOT) I had a side conversation with the Bariatric Nut - and she explained that the general nuts just don’t get the bariatric diet - My nut went so far as to say “I could never do that surgery - I like eating too much” - she’s a size 6 (maybe 8) and I wanted to scream - I’m doing this to mitigate my diabetes - and have a much more active lifestyle. You might be pleasantly surprised and like your nut -- I like the person - she’s a doll - and I would kill for her clothing - but the fact that she’s not enthralled with my choice to get bariatric surgery sorta sucks -- I feel like I’m playing her game and doing what she wants - but I wish I could just be honest and say I’m loosing weight because I gotta see you every month - otherwise I’d be having a heck of a food funeral were it not for these mandatory woo woo veggies and fruit meetings. whew - i feel better saying that.
  22. I have to do 6 mo - I’ve completed 4 mo. basically - nutritionally sound - calories based on your weight - and learning to measure and report. I have to sit with this skinny bit** once a mo and go over what i’m eating blah blah blah - it’s doing my time - but I find it to be BRUTAL. She pontificates eating more carbs - when I KNOW it’s carbs (good OR bad) that help raise my blood sugars - so now I lie to make her happy and i weigh in for her...i find it very dull.
  23. I’m sorry. Did you get hurt at work?
  24. FYI - you have to be habitual for it to come up positive - if you really didn’t “inhale” protest the exam that lost your job.
