    Period & Devo shots

I’m pre-op 44 and have a Merina IUD - I used to have the gigantic chunky heavy periods (TMI) and the only thing that would stop them was meds - that I KNOW we can’t take post surgery. The Merina has reduced my period 90% and I get that icky brown junky stuff - once in a great while I get enough to wear a pad - but almost always it’s just a tiny bit. the first 6 months were horrible - but I’d do it again and again - knowing how it was after that first few months. I have 2 friends - but with the merina - neither had the 6 months of irregularity I had - and both have ZERO period now - I hope when I loose my weight I’ll be the same as them. Good luck.

    Calorie intake

What medication are you on? How old are you? How much sleep are you getting? Have you been doing weight training - if so what kind, how much? Are you under stress? Blah blah blah there are millions of factors that could be helping or hurting you - and if this was simple I'd look like Claudia shiffer - give yourself credit for how hard your working and relax - put the scale away and relax

Ex husband getting married & I can't stuff my face

write your new you a letter from your old you - open it a year from tomorrow and see just how far you went look to the future - look to the joys ahead of you - and look at the poor looser whose marrying this asshat with pity...what a jagoff.
  8. Anyone know if this is a good protein?
  9. Humor me. BE SELFISH. do it for you you and you alone. doing all of this for someone else makes it about someone else. ALL OF THIS IS FOR YOU. nothing pisses me off more - since I was a very young kid - feeling like I “needed” to loose weight for someone else...for society - for a certain clothing - for a “look” - for prom, for graduation, for college, for that job, the engagement, the wedding dress, the pictures, the honeymoon, the pregnancy, the kids, because the TV says I should, because PEOPLE Magazine says I should, all the time for someone or something else - I am doing this for ME...NOT for my husband...NOT for my kids...I’m doing this for ME...and me alone...this is year of ME. Sure they get the byproduct of my ME-NESS...and they get to enjoy the new ME but not for one second am I doing all of this for anyone but ME. xoxo. LOVE ME.

    Muscle Milk Light?

Thanks teka and tink - its the same shake the hubs drinks after weight training so worse case I have someone who will drink it
  11. I have to remind myself to be as good to me as I know I am to everyone else. I know I sound like an snl skit or a shampoo commercial- but I am soooooooo worth it.

    Muscle Milk Light?

I got it for a very decent price with a coupon so I’ll be 25 pre-mixed servings before I can try anything else - I’m a syntracs fruity girl - and have done the muscle milk before - just curious since it seems allot of costco shoppers do the premier.

    Randomness

My response to those questions IS and always has been - “when was your last bowel movement” - watch the reaction - a personal question deserves and equally personal question back.
  14. Dr.’s have said to me - but you gotta do it for “X” - usually they mention the kids - as if guilt would guilt me into weight loss - If I didn’t do anything up to now for ME - this is for ME and ME ALONE - yes - I LOVE THEM TO PIECES - but they don’t motivate me - I motivate ME.
  15. one of my favorite stories to highlight this - I’ll give you the cliff notes - hours and hours of prep to make this really delicious Soup (albeit not low calorie) left the house letting said soup cool off (it was supposed to be my lunch for the week) and came home to all the pots and pans clean and no soup - we guessed it was a gallon of soup - my folks (I was a kid at the time) ATE A GALLON OF SOUP - licked that pot clean - I used to joke that I had to eat whatever came into my home growing up because if I didn’t I’d never see it again - that kind of stuff has a huge weight on our psyche and creates an environment where we eat things sometimes not because we’re hungry or we “need” it - but because we are competitive. Years later my husband and I still have a giggle about this - but I still am pissy when I think about how they ATE A GALLON OF SOUP - oh, the best part, they said they ate it because they thought I was going to throw it out. Family can really suck. Especially family who doesn’t have weight issues.

    Thank you!
  18. douchewafflebear

    claritin

I’m expecting surgery soon - like in a few months - I decided to take myself off of claritin - I couldn’t figure out why I was scratching my shoulders like crazy - and sneezing - evidently I NEED to be on claritin - anyone know what that drug does to our pouch or how do we absorb it for that matter?

    Mirena!

Abstinence is the ONLY sure fire way of not getting preggers - every single method has the potential of an unplanned pregnancy - and everyone loves to tell their stories...remember when you were pregnant how everyone LOVES telling you horror stories about their friends friends sisters uncles dogs cousin who got pregnant on accident and had the worst labor ever? Maybe I’m just special and everyone NEEDED to tell me their crazy stories?

    Mirena!

EVERYONE has stories - just think about how many Gastric Bypass stories you’ve heard???!!! My gyn is a man who was a former military doctor - said he placed thousands of merina’s and ONE slipped out - it’s entirely possible - I LOVE my merina. What’s the absolute worst that can happen?

    Mirena!

ok preop i’m 100 more than you - if you just look at % - I am SIGNIFICANTLY heavier than you - and - I did gain about 2 yrs after I went on the merina - weight gain is NOT a side effect listed by the manufacturer - but you can ask 20 people and get 20 different responses - I have 2 good friends on it and neither appear to have gained (OR LOST) since on the merina - Now - on the flip - I used to hemorrhage - think bleed through 3-4 pads in an hour - which is when they think you misscarry - it was impossible to work (i own my own business) and basically I wouldn’t work for the few days when I had my periods - I used to get very bad cramps - in 3 yrs (it might be 4) I haven’t had a cramp - AT ALL - I’m a bitch during my cycle - but really zero cramps... Now - I get that icky nuisance bleeding - rarely ever a clot or any kind of big bleed - I am not fond of weight gain - but I’m ok with that as a trade off for the excessive bleeding. The last few months I didn’t even get that - but last week my psudo period was back. I gained 13% body weight on the merina - over 3 yrs - I also had some excessively stressful years at the same time - so I can’t definitively say I gained with the merina - or i gained with HUGE ASS life stuff - I’ve seen some online forums that vilify Merina - and for me - it works - now - post surgery - and I don’t loose all the weight I’m supposed to - I am open to pulling the Merina and trying albation - but right now I have so much on my plate - I’d rather not screw with one more thing -- JUST MY OPINION - I am neither a medical expert - nor do i play one on tv - Good luck with your decision - for me - it’s worry free - and I like it - on the pill I get high blood pressure - and/but without Merina I had high blood pressure - technically I’m 200 lbs overweight - for what the charts say I should weigh - so who the hell knows....

    Mirena!

eye kant spel abliation (i’m sure it’s spelled wrong again) it’s where they cauterize your uterus and you don’t get a period for up to 5 yrs - some people get periods - i have a friend who DID get pregnant (at like 45) with this - so it’s not iron clad - it’s VERY rare to get pregnant with an ablation - but she did and they had a very healthy baby. I don’t have many complaints about the merina - but i have gained 40ish since I’ve been on it. Should be interesting to see what other suggestions my gyn team make --
  23. douchewafflebear

    Mirena!

I use the merina because after 35 I had periods that were so heavy and so bad - I am pre-surgery - and right now I haven’t had a real period in like 3-4 years - I am thinking about getting an oblation because we are old and I like not having a period - I still have a cycle - hormones and emotional etc - i just don’t hemorrhage like I used to. they DO NOT recommend Merina for women who have not had children yet - they will give it to you - but it is NOT recommended.
  24. I’m in my six month penance - I have FIFTY ONE days of waiting left. I’m doing everything “they” tell me and my A1C went UP. So, what does this say to me. First - the regular eating habits of the alleged healthy among us does not work for my DNA - I asked my NUT if I could stay more Protein heavy on my pre-diet and she said that wasn’t balanced (My A1C before all of this was 6.5) Second - RNY is the right choice. I got my results this morning and I was very blue. But after some thought about it all - I decided the arrow I was looking for is finally pointing to Gastric Bypass. I suppose many of us go through some regrets about even having to get to this point - and somehow I thought this surgery was the evilest of the evils. BUT - a) statistically T2Diabetics do extremely well post RNY - many leaving the hospital with no meds and the success of reversing the diabetes is the best with RNY. I had my boohoo - now onward and upward. If after 4 months of diet and exercise - I had lost more and maybe had a “better” A1C - I might not be confident about surgery. Now I am. I guess I got my answer. Thanks for listening friends.
