  1. Hey, Tink65! I'll be thinking of you! Where are you having your surgery (if I may ask)? I'm in the area as well. Went through the Khalili Center. 11/29 was my date. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk
  2. I've been reading a lot of posts about the complications, post-op pain, dumping and how horrible people have been feeling. I've been wanting to post about my positive experience but almost feel guilty doing so on this site. I'm not a complainer but honestly, I've had no complaints. Sorry this is long but here goes: I'm 34. I wasn't on any medication pre-op and other than being overweight and a strong family history of various illnesses, I was kind of in good health. My wellness team at the Khalili Center was amazing and supportive from the beginning. Fortunately, I only had to do 2 days Clear liquids pre-op. Skip to post-op. I was released the next day, had no complications and felt no pain. Hello? No pain. The med was good (Lortab) and I stayed on top of the timing. Only took that for the the first two days. Gas? Not painful, just uncomfortable and the walking and moving around helped. Now at 3.5 weeks post-op and 20 pounds down I feel amazing. There were days that I felt so tired but now have so much energy. Just yesterday I felt a little depressed but I think that had more to do with not wanting to be at work this time of year. I almost feel like I was trained to go through this like a heavyweight champ. I know what I might experience in the coming months emotionally, physically, what to watch for, etc. and I stick to my plan to a 'T'. I have nothing negative to say about my experience thus far. I'm shortening this quite a bit because I'm beginning to feel a little self-centered and that's not the point. I really just want to show that it's not all bad, or all about pain, or whatever else others' experiences have been. Especially to those that haven't gone in yet. People do experience legitimate complications and have legitimate post-op concerns but not everyone. Educate yourself. Talk to your doctors and NUTs. Know that you will feel tired or down one day. When it happens, don't panic. Let it happen, grab a tissue for your tears, understand why, and know that it will pass. Maybe you won't walk as much that day. Know that you might dump. Breathe, experience it, and take notes. That, too, shall pass. Know that you will stall occasionally. Move on. Take your supplements. Get your Protein in. Follow the diet and allow your organs to heal. Don't rush through the food stages and MOVE! The beginning is what sets the tone for the rest of this journey and the rest of our new healthy lives. Give yourself a fighting chance and do it right. I have so much more I could write but this is already, like, a lot. If you have questions or comments about my positive experience, please feel free to ask. I had to get this off my chest. Thanks for "listening". Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk
  3. No enemy here! I read some of these threads and wonder the same thing! Thankfully, I had an uneventful surgery. Recovery has been great and I follow my plan to a 'T'. I'm going through a stall right now but guess what? It happens. I just don't get it. Some people are trying to eat cupcakes and pizza, etc. Why would you do that? I don't even want that stuff. 4. They're included with the full liquids. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk
  5. My friend's mother had A few of her videos and she did lose weight. Not a lot though. It's just enough to keep you moving when you don't feel like going all out. The intensity gets higher as you work through the segments. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk
  6. Leslie Sansone has some great workout videos all centered around walking. This one in the pic I've had for about two years. It's a total of five miles but broken into 1 mile segments so you can work your way up. ...and you don't need much space. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk
  7. I'm glad to hear this is normal. I was feeling bad thinking I was just suddenly very lazy. I feel like I need a nap but I'm not sleepy. I get all my Vitamins and Protein in. I exercise some but should do more. Just tired. I'll just begin my third week on Thursday and can begin puréed foods. Maybe that will help some. Glad to know the feeling will pass. 8. My heels fit!!! Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk
  9. Oh! Great ideas! I especially like the coffee crystals for mocha shakes. Definitely have to try that. I've been wanting to use up my Isopure "Unflavored" powder. This morning, out of desperation, I was searching through the cabinets for something that could make the shakes better with light soy milk and I found some unsweetened cocoa powder (Hershey's, from my baking days). Total 3 carbs, 0 sugars so I added three teaspoons to two scoops of Protein and it turned out pretty good! Got 58 grams of protein in with no problem first thing this morning! One more in the afternoon and I'm good for the day. I may even add the crystals to that and see what it's like. Thanks for the tip. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk
  10. Thanks, all! Looking forward to more little moments! Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk
  11. I had a moment this morning. I got out of the shower, dried off and wrapped the towel around my entire body! I realized I hadn't done that in a few years. I could barely get it around my top before but not around my bottom. Then when I got dressed, I notice I had to go in two notches. Yay for the nsv's. HW 236, DOS 234 on 11/29, Current 221 as of 12/7. 12. I'm so glad to hear this! I can't wait to get back into my heals and boots. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk
  13. I got steri strips (taped) as well. I'd call the doctor and have him take a look at them to see if they can be removed. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk
  14. I pooped!!! Lol. I was starting to wonder when that was going to happen. Especially while on clear liquids. What a pleasant surprise. I feel so much better now. I haven't been walking as much but now that I'm a little "lighter" I feel like I can move all day. It's the little things... Oh, yeah and 8lbs down since surg Thursday, 11/29. 15. Uh, maybe not. I just peaked into "The Man Room" and there were mostly women responding so...when will we ever let a man have his space? Lol Never. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk
  16. You really do look great. If you haven't already, you should post this in "The Man Room" post-op group so you can get more men's points of view. IMO you look fabulous now, so you'll look fabulous then. Do what makes you feel complete. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk
  17. I have Aetna POS and they approved in 11 days. At first my dr office thought it was 10 days. On the 10th day they called to follow up and the case manager said they have 15 days but they ended up approving the very next morning. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk
  18. God definitely brought you through it so you WILL be healed, Shemmy. Sending positive thoughts and vibes your way! Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk
  19. Try the Isopure Zero Carb ready made drinks. They come in different flavors and you can get them at GNC and Vitamin Shoppe. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

  21. Hey Novembers! I made it through with no complications. Surgery was yesterday. Pain management is excellent. I only feel what I guess is that gas pain although I really can't call it pain. I'm recovering in a hotel room so it's very comfortable. I get up and pace the room every now and then. Sipping water I'm allowed 30ml every hour. I have my dr appt later this morning and should be able to go home from there. Cheers to the losers' bench. See everyone on the post-op group. Best wishes to everyone going in today. 22. Welcome! You'll live this group. I've never been a "support group" kind of person but his place is great. Say and ask whatever is on your mind and someone is there for you! Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk
  23. Thank you! Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk
  24. See, that's what I'm thinking will happen. We'll see. At least I know I can wear a pad. I just couldn't imagine... Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk
