    December 2012 Post Op Group

My surgery was Monday I came home yesterday I am feeling good. I am trying to get the balance of water and protein in daily but I am feeling great for the most. So glad I made the choice to do this!!
  4. I was a sleeve patient originally. Once I had my egd I was told that I could not have the sleeve due to my results so I am having the rny. I was like you- had not researched rny very much and felt at a loss because I felt ready for the sleeve. I have researched rny and this forum is awesome!! These guys can answer pretty much any question you may have I am ready for my rny and have surgery on Monday :) I was disappointed about the sleeve at first but then had to remind myself why I started all if it in the first place- for a healthier me! Good luck to you!!
  5. I am 16 days from surgery and counting!!!! Start 2 week liquid diet Monday! It all seems so unreal. Nervous, anxious, giddy, excited, happy.... all at the same time. When I started my journey I was worried I would never get to this point and now that I am here my mind just can't accept it. I an really looking forward to the losers bench and being healthy again Good luck to everyone getting ready for surgery and to all the people who had surgery already- please keep posting about your experience!! You are an inspiration to the rest of us :)

    December Dates

December 3rd for me in Greenville, SC please add me :)
  9. I was initially a sleeve patient. I was very excited about it and researched it and was ready....until my egd!!! I was diagnosed with Barrett's disease and my surgeon told me that the sleeve was probably the worst surgery I could have with my stomach & esophagus problem. So he said the best thing that would stop the bile from entering my stomach was the bypass because the pylorus is not backing up into the stomach any more. I started my research all over on the bypass and I am very excited that I have surgery on Dec 3rd Each person has to pick the procedure that suits them best for their conditions. I am not upset about the switch from sleeve to bypass- I just keep reminding myself why I started this journey. Good luck to you

    Feeling Guilty :-(

Tasha & Linda- we are all Dec 3rd!!!!!!! So excited there are 3 of us now Tasha- I know exactly how you feel. I always put my husband and kids first and I am so scared to leave them without me if something were to go wrong! When I talked to my husband about my feelings of doubt regarding my surgery, his response to be was that the good will out-weigh the bad and that this surgery was not just for me but for my family so I would be healthier and happier and be able to do more with them all athletically. When I start to feel guilty I remind myself that my family wants me to do this for them just as much as I want to do it for me Hang in there! We are so close and I know I will be flipping out a few more times before the 3rd but I am trying to keep the ultimate goal in mind! keep your head up and get ready.....we are headed for the losers bench ladies and I cannot wait to get there :)

    Somebody Pinch Me

Thanks ladies!! Good luck on monday worm!!! I will be thinking about you and praying for a speedy recovery
  12. I went thru the exact same emotions after my appt with my surgeon yesterday!!! I called my husband and where I should have been jumping up and down excited all I wanted to do was cry! He was worried something had changed or been delayed because I was so upset..lol! I am sure it was reality sinking in for me. I do not see my surgeon again until the day of surgery and I am nervous and scared but I have continued to remind myself of the reasons why I started this and it helps to lessen the fear and put my goals back in prospective. I am sure you will do great the people here are pretty awesome and very supportive. Good luck to you!!!

  14. Hi all! I just wanted to introduce myself! I have been 'lingering' on this forum for a while. I started out as a sleeve patient and after EGD was told I could not have sleeve surgery due to esophageal ulceration and gerd(which i have never had a problem with). I had my ins approval for the sleeve and they are expecting my approval for bypass in the next few days. I have a surgery date set for December 3rd!! I am scared and nervous and happy all at the same time! I have seen a huge amount of support given on this site and i am sure I will learn a great amount from all of u Any suggestions on how to deal with the anticipation and the bounce from so very happy to so very scared would be greatly appreciated :) thx - J
