  1. ..and I have made an appt. for Monday, but was wondering if anyone else has ever experienced this.. I had my surgery about 8 months ago.. I'm fairly restricted.. Well, on Sunday I got stuck really bad... threw up pretty violently.. I haven't felt 100% since then.. I'm going thru extremes.. that Monday I was able to eat a good dinner. .had a pork chop and green beans then the very next night I ate the same green beans and they nearly got stuck!! I have PB'd several times since that incident.. Well, Wed. morning I woke up and I felt horrible.. I wasn't really in a ton of pain, just uncomfortable... It feels like I have a lot of gas build up for some reason...can NOT get rid of it..I did not have this much gas after surgery.. I have no idea what's going on.. I'm hoping that the PB'ing is just aggravating my stoma and that it is just irritated and causes things to get stuck. I don't think that the band has slipped, wouldn't I be throwing up with everything I ate and be in a lot of pain? Ideas, anyone?? Thanks!! ~Mandy:confused:
  2. PB = Productive burp.... when you get food stuck and it won't go down, so it has only one way to go.. it comes back up. Yes, I'm extremely happy with my surgery, I believe it's one of the best things I've ever done for myself. Good luck with your journey.
  3. Thanks Ladies! It's amazing how you automatically adjust to situations.. I already decided yesterday that I would stay on mushies and if that didn't work to go on liquids... Great minds think a like. Hope this feeling subsides! Thanks for responding.
  4. I was banded on 12/18/07, I have 6cc in a 9cc Realize band(4 fills) ... I have restriction, but didn't really feel restricted until the 3rd fill. I have only PB'd (productive Burp) twice... it's not nearly has bad as throwing up..which I am very very thankful for. Hope that helps. ~Mandy~
  5. Hello, I was banded on Dec. 18th 2007, I searched for other bandsters that had surgery in Dec. but had no luck.. I"m calling out to all December bandsters...I feel like I'm missing something....surely there's a group of us out there... Do we have a cute nickname? Support groups? ANYTHING???
  6. I am not allowed to have alcohol for 6 months.
  7. I was on my Pre-Op diet for 2 weeks. I was on Medifast - they have eggs, Soups and shakes..etc.. Yes, I stuck to it.... I lost 20lbs... I was so mad, day of surgery, they didn't even bother to weigh me or even ask if I stuck to the diet...I had done so well.. dang it.

    Caffeine?

I was not told that we could not have caffeine...but prior to surgery, I was super addicted to it.. so I decided I was doing the surgery for my health, so I should go ahead and kick that caffeine habit too..I'm very thankful that I was able to do it with out suffering from extreme headaches/withdrawal to badly.. I was a Diet soda addict... and now I drink propel... they have TONS of flavors to choose from.
  9. I was not told that I couldn't wear a bra... but I wear underwires and omgosh they hurt when I sat down and my belly came up.. it was very uncomfortable.. Soooo I'm very thankful that it's winter here, I just put a heavy coat on and prayed no one looked at my belly button to see that I didn't have a bra on. For future info. where would I go to get a large sports bra? I didn't see any at WalMart or Lane Bryant that could fit me...

    Big decision to make....Help!!

I'm always a big believer of ' You get what you pay for ' ... I guess I would need to know more details... is the 'free' surgery in Mexico too? Or would it be closer to home? Things like that... That is SUCH a tough one. Good luck with whatever you choose.

    I've gained weight

I am struggling as well... I was banded on the 18th and am very very surprised to find that if I wanted I could eat an entire plate of food. I lost 20lbs on my post op diet..and 6 lbs after surgery, but it's slowly starting to creep back up. I am so worried about gaining my 25lbs back. I can not wait until my first fill. I guess I should be happy that I feel so great 2 weeks post op, but I am so discouraged with the fact that I can eat a bunch still. Was hoping to be over that phase. So, I also can relate. Hope we get thru the next few weeks until our first fill with out gaining to much back..... Good Luck!

    Surviving Optifast

I am on day 9 of my Medifast diet. I dont know anything about Optifast, but are you allowed to add broth to your Soups to mix them? That has helped me tremendously, I am on my second jars of chicken and Beef boulion granules... on the lumps, could you use one of those drink mixers.. like the kind that you makes smoothies/milkshakes with? Just a thought.
  14. Ok, I've been working on this since June....and FINALLY I have a date... Dec. 18th. Woohooo!!! However, I am supposed to travel to Chicago on a business trip in the middle of my pre-op liquid diet. Do I go or not go!? Any suggestions? I don't want this to hold me back, but there is a Christmas dinner involved.. I obviously won't be able to eat it. I'm not sure what to do.?!!? My husband said we should cancel, b/c he didn't think he could eat all those goodies in front of me, bless his heart... But we were looking so forward to this trip for months. I'm afraid I'll look out of place in front of all my peers. Any Advice!? :faint:
  15. Just wanted to say 'Hello' from Indiana! I don't know of a single person locally that has had the lapband procedure done and am very happy to find this website! I have my first seminar on Wed. of this week and am very excited!! It's almost as if this is happening to fast! I've been overweight all my life and never before has my weight held me back, but as I get older..boy oh boy is it getting harder to do things without aches and pains....I'm hoping that the surgery helps me to be able to keep up with the kids....and would like to be able to take them to the waterpark and perhaps ride rollercosters again.... right now me+swimsuit+NO WAY!

    HELP! Dining Out Question

Lmao@food porn.... I'm at work and just laughed out loud at my computer screen! To funny.
  17. Omgosh, I found myself indulging in my favorite foods too... then I found out that my insurance wouldn't cover me if I was over a certain BMI.. and low and behold I have to lose 10lbs before August 22nd.... no more indulgence for me! I did manage to eat one more meal of my beloved sushi though... ahhh...

    Soda

I haven't been banded yet, but that was my first question, I love my diet pepsi and my Dr. said that it was all up to you and how you tolerate it, most ppl find the carbonation painful, but that you could drink it if it didn't bother you.

Hi Sanderro, I am currently being seen by Dr. Trace Curry out of Evandale, Ohio. Gosh, I couldn't imagine a 6 months supervised diet, I'm very lucky with my insurance.. I just need to lose about 10 lbs before I can submit to insurance..So I am hanging out trying to losing those 10-15 lbs and need to do so before August 22... that's when my psych eval is set for. Great job on the 6 months of the supervised diet.wow..
  20. I was very excited when I got home at lunch and found a packet of information from my doctor. As if I nothing else to worrry about, I read thru his paperwork and found out that he charges for a program fee upfront before he'll even fill out any paperwork/insurance forms.. Not only that, he has a NP that assists him in his surgeries and I was advised that insurance may not pay for her assistance. I was so excited, my seminar is tomorrow and now I don't know if I even want to go. BLAH! Is this normal!? Why did I think it would be easy? I wonder how many other hidden costs will be involved!

    Pre-payment - is this normal?

Thank you for the reply, I do understand. Just wasn't something I was expecting. Thanks.

Hi Judy, I'm in Batesville. I dont' have a date either, but I go to my seminar tomorrow in Cincy. I'm very excited. Have you been to a seminar yet? I have some really silly questions and am anxious to see what kind of questions are asked at the seminar.
