  1. Well' date=' that wasn't fun. Ate 2 ounces tilapia (which I baked with garlic, one bite of sweet potatoes and no asparagus and got so sick. I think it was the garlic. Had terrible gas-tried two gasx then took a papaya enzyme and then I threw it all up. I don't think garlic and my pouch are good together. And boy did I have horrible hiccups. Better now. Anyone else have trouble with garlic?[/quote']

I haven't had trouble with garlic, but fish yes. Cod, salmon and tuna all have made me very ill, but not crab or shrimp.

  3. I am on the way home from the hospital after visiting a friend that had RNY a year ago last Nov. she lost slow for the first few months, but the started getting sick from what she was eating and started loosing quickly. Yesterday she had to have surgery to remove 6" of her small intestine that had collapsed down in on itself and rotted a quarter sized hole in it due to fast weight loss.

So fast is not always good! I a slow loser too but at least I am losing! I am happy with that!

  4. Just found this forum and love it cuz I am 52 and did this just for health reasons and the smaller size clothes is just an added perk. I had surgery 11/19/2012 have lost 59 pounds as of today and I must say I have never felt better. My husband and two sons have been beside me since day one my daughter not so much but she is starting to come around finally' date=' I hope. I was feeling kinda down as the weight loss is going alot slower and I am excersising twice a day ( and loving it, who would have thought that) but then I realized I am below 200 pounds for the first time since 1992 and have gone from a size 26 jean to a size 16. So I am ready to Celebrate and pat myself on the back. I guess the biggest thing I have learned about myself is that I can do this and no one else can, and it is all about me, and that is ok. For those who are getting ready to have surgery remember this is life changing and it is a tool for you but it is also work. Sorry for the long post but feeling really good about myself and surgery and life in general. Hope everyone has a great day from sunny northeast PA. <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' /> <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' /> <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' /> <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' /> <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' /> <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' /> <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />[/quote']

Welcome and congrat!!! I had mine done 12/20/12 and have lost 42 lbs. I also did it for health reasons, diabetes. Everything else is just icing on the cake so to speak!

  5. Great news and the diabetics of the group will understand this. Went to Dr. today and I am officially off all Meds now and the A1C was 6.9. If I do not lose another pound I have achieved my goal all ready. Even through all of our adversities it is possible to achieve our individual goals through this surgery.

That is great!! I also am off my boatload of meds!! It is awesome isn't it? I do really watch my carbs too!

  6. At theER. I went to my family Dr and they reviewed the urinalysis. Turns out no bladder infection. Just in case ran another' date=' still not one. They called surgeons office and they to me to go to ER right away for testing. I'm scared they messed up my bladder.

Oh gen! I am so sorry that you are not healing well! Hopefully it isn't anything serious! Praying for you!

  7. Oh Gen. I am so sorry for your loss. I can so relate. Within 2 weeks I lost 2 cats' date=' one to kidney failure and one heart failure. They are truly part of the family.[/quote']

    Gen,

I understand where you are at! I am 53 now but most of my life has been like your last couple of years. I had to fight for EVERYTHING I got in life. But just remember God will not give you more than you can handle and it does make us stronger!!! Soon this will be just a memory and as for your ex, karma is a b****! I have seen it many times. You get what you give!

    ((Hugs))

  8. Oh' date=' I'm so envious!! I had surgery the same day and have been stalled 3 weeks. I have lost 24 lbs since starting the pre liquid and only 14 since surgery. I am so proud for you and it gives me hope. I'm a slow loser in General so it will happen, I guess. At least eating healthy and not gaining so just holding on. Keep up the good work!!![/quote']

I'm right there with you! I have lost a total of 34 lbs since 12/6/12. Surgery was 12/20/12. I have lost 20 since then.
