  1. You have had it done already?

Nope I have a band that I am getting removed and being sleeved tomorrow. I have trouble absorbing Vitamins unrelated to WLS. My body is just weird. I had to have an Iron infusion almost two months ago bc my Iron got so low.

I was commenting on why I chose the sleeve over gastric bypass. I don't want to have my intestines rerouted and have malnutrition problems more than you would have with the sleeve.

  2. just wondering a question I'm indecisive of the sleeve and the r an y... if so many people are getting the ban removed ... in the sleeve is new why not just do the r and y... what happens if the sleeve doesn't work like the ban... since the r and y has been out longer??? I'm thinking the sleeve is the way to go for me but just nervous..

It is simple for me. I don't want severe mal nutrition. I already have issues absorbing Vitamins.... Also it kinda freaks me out to have intestines rerouted. Lol

  3. Tomorrow is your surgery! I'm happy for you and pray God's blessings over you and your surgical team. Everything will go well. I just had mine out on Thursday, 6/20. Advice from me :). Limit your foods the day pre-op and keep them light. Keep walking post op. drink your h20. For intestinal gas drink hot herbal tea and heating pad. For intradominal gas - keep moving, walking. Let us know how you're doing.

I hope you are doing well! You are well enough to post though so that is good! Thanks for the prayers and advice. I am at work today and having trouble focusing. Coworkers saying their goodbyes to me for two weeks. I am nervous but I know I will be fine. My surgeon requires no solid for dinner. I just have lunch meat and spinach for lunch then after that all liquids for me. Soon I'll be with you on the other side :D

  4. You can try finding a dish that s lower carbs and skip the bread. Also go ahead and tell the waiter to bring you a box and put at least half in it. Those are some of the things I would do. But it looks like your surgery is a couple of out so if you don't go overboard it should be ok. Hang n there hon, u will have a lot of food decisions to make between now and your surgery. Just try to make mostly good ones :)

  5. Sending the good jue jue your way as requested!

I chose the band ....6 years later I choose the sleeve .... Oh and if it freaks you out to see the band now, it probably won't get better if you have it put in.

I could tell you my whole story but it is long but I am having that darn foreign object taken out Tuesday and revising to he sleeve. I am relieved.

But please do your research and if you don't have a surgeon yet, try to find one that does multiple surgeries. The surgeon can help you decide based on your needs. My first surgeon was band only so he couldn't have recommended another surgery. Best thing I did for myself was find my new surgeon!

  6. congrats! Funny you should bring this up. I was just thinking today about the best thing to do with my old clothes. I could of course give them to charity, but wondering the best place to take them. Would like to get receipts as a tax write-off if possible (budget is tight right now). Thinking of Dress for Success. Could also go the consignment route, but that seems like a bit of a hassle? I think they donate anything that doesn't sell to charity if you don't come pick it up, which is what I would do. I have a lot of really nice business clothes and I just want to make sure that someone who can really use them gets them.

Yeah dress for success would be good. If I didn't have my sister to give them to, I might take them to a WLS clothes swap. At first I was thinking that there would be no one bigger than me at one of thos then I realized hello! There are people starting from all sizes. I think it is a self esteem thing. Still hard to believe. Started at a tight 28...
