  1. I have acid reflux to the extreme. I never had it prior to surgery and didn't have it until the last fill. After this last fill I can hardly lie down without getting sick and I have chest problems and coughing. I didn't have enough restriction before this fill and now I have enough, but not too much (as far as food intake goes). Does anyone have a suggestion on what you can do to prevent it at night. I've been taking Nexium and it helps, but if you stop eating or drinking before bedtime will that help? My nose is also all messed up. I have sores in my nose. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  2. My daughter, who is 16 and quite thin, jumps on her trampoline every single day. Sometimes she does it for an hour at a time and other times she goes out there a few times a day for 20 minutes or so. She really enjoys it. She pops her I-Pod on and uses it as her "alone time". I tried doing it, and boy it's a lot harder than it looks. I haven't checked for sure, but I'm certain it must be a good form of exercise. Anyone use it?
  3. skhopp - thanks for the reply. I'll say a little prayer that we both have no problems! My regular doctor is the one who did all my fills, but interestingly enough when he did the fill of 2 cc and I said I didn't feel any different he said, "It's pushing back at me." I remembered that after the fact. I think I feel some restriction now. Keep me posted! Goodluck!
  4. I'm a little afraid that I have a leak. I went to the doctor in November because I had a stomach virus. He withdrew all the Fluid (3.9 in a 4 cc band). I had been throwing up for a week or so and couldn't get over it. He waited two weeks and put 2 cc back in. I don't recall having any restriction, but am not sure. I went back in three weeks and there was no fluild in the band to withdraw - NONE. He said with 2 cc I should have felt some restriction of some type. He put 2 cc back in exactly a week ago. Because of the holidays I can't see him until 1/8/09. He said there may be a leak and it might have been a weird way he put the needle in or something.... I'm worried because I can't afford revision. Any advice appreciated.

feeling like I am going to fail!

I understand your frustration, but it's probably going to take a few fills. Weight Watchers can't hurt through. I'm headed there tomorrow with my husband who isn't banded. I've lost restriction in my band and gained a few too!
  6. I hadn't had a fill since 6/30/08, but since that fill I had a LOT of restriction and was having reflux problem and throwing up occasionally. I thought it would loosen up, but it didn't. Last week I felt like I was having a heart attack. Went to dr and he took all the saline out of my band. I haven't had any restriction in almost two weeks now, and I HATE IT - especially at Thanksgiving. My question is - I got back to the dr on Thursday, do you think he will be aggressive with the fill or should I expect no restriction for several months again? He said he thought I had no slippage if the symptoms all went away, and they did immediately. I just don't want to have to start over again. Any thoughts?
  7. I got my band on 7/31/07 and I'm down about 90 lbs. Last fill was 6/30/08. All summer I was fine. I felt enough restriction but not a whole lot. Had a couple of PBs and threw up occasionally if I ate too fast. I have worked from my home office for six years and recently (3 wks ago) went back into the office. People eat in offices - A LOT - and after several lunches out I realized I'm eating more than normal and have tried to slow down. My problem is that now no matter how little I eat I get pains in my chest and shoulder blade area. I throw up EVERY time I eat, sometimes before I even leave the restaurant and I can't drink very much without pain or throwing up. I've tried drinking hot liquids, to no avail. I then started taking Children's Mucinex because I have some allergies going as well, but nothing helps. Now I'm waking up with food particles and liquids coming out of my nose at night. (sorry if TMI) It's really scaring me. I don't want to call the doctor because I'm afraid of him taking the fill out and me gaining weight again. Has anyone experienced this? Any ideas? Thanks a bunch!!

Very scared! Need some help please!

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to call the doctor Monday. I didn't Friday (hard head I know). I am doing somewhat better though. I just find it strange that it took a few months to get too tight. However, I have started a new job. Someone mentioned stress - maybe that's part of it.
  9. I'm very confused. I have had several fills and not until the last one, which was 6/30/08, that I ever vomited or felt serious restriction. After that fill I had reflux and vomited at least a couple of times a week. It was very tight, but I was still able to take in enough nutrition. Over time I guess it stretched and I can now eat bread again (toasted and dry). The vomiting went away and everything seemed okay. Last night I had extreme reflux again. It was unreal and coming out my nose in my sleep. (sorry if too much information) It was disgusting and now my throat hurts and I feel miserable. My question is, what would cause this to happen after everything seemed okay again? It has continued all day today, but at least you can deal with it when you're awake. Any thoughts appreciated.
  10. I had the same thing happen and it was actually caused by sinus drainage. Weird, but it happens.

Having trouble getting into a routine....

I always tell myself I have to go to the gym but don't have to stay past 10 minutes if I don't feel like it. Once I'm there I'm fine. Goodluck!

    Anyone tried Zumba?

My gym started a class a few months ago. I need to try it. It sounds like fun.

    Hello all...

I'm sorry you haven't lost more. I too was banded in July 2007. I'm glad you found this site though! It will get better. Everyone here is very helpful.
  14. I've been thinking that I need a fill, as I have almost no restriction. But the last few days my daughter and husband have been sick. I suddenly have pain with even drinking anything. I woke up this morning with a sinus headache and sore throat. Does anyone know if there is a connection? My doctor mentioned one time that sometimes the amount of restriction you feel has something to do with the amount of Fluid in your stomach. Any advice is appreciated. I have an appointment with doctor Thursday and was planning on a fill. I don't want to make that drive if not needed. Thanks!
  15. I saw my doctor today. He said this is a common problem. He recommended a couple of things that might help. One is to drink hot tea or coffee about 15 minutes before you eat. Drink it as hot as possible. It helps break up the mucus. The other thing is to take Children's Mucinex. You can buy it over the counter.

    In need of major help

I'm in the same boat. I even think I've gained a few pounds. I just can't seem to get with it again. I'm going in for a small fill today. I'm not sure it's the right thing, but I have to count on my buddy bandy to help me out again.
  17. My favorite restaurant is Shogun. They have a "mean" fried rice, vegetables and chicken. I bought a wok and am looking for a recipe I can do at home that is hopefully lower in fat but cures my craving. I also need to find the brown sauce recipe. I don't think it's ginger, but not sure. Any ideas?
  18. Thanks a lot Sue. I was thinking that must be it. I hope it goes away soon so I can accurately judge where I am.
  19. I need to update my information. However, I had my band (4cc) on 7/30/07. I am down 73 lbs now. I haven't had a fill since 4/30/08, and that put me to 3.8. Recently I can eat a lot more than I used to be able to eat. Japanese is my weakness and I can eat a whole plate of fried rice and chicken. I'm at a standstill. I want to go back for another fill, but I'm concerned because I'm having a little reflux at night. Maybe once or twice a week I awake to that horrible taste in my throat that won't go away. From time to time I can't eat much as it hurts, but more times than not I can eat. I can even eat a little more bread than I used to. Do you think I need more fill or is the reflux a sign that it's too much? Thanks, Becky
  20. I went to the doctor this week. I had 3.5 cc in my 4 cc band last visit (December). This time he only pulled out 2.5 cc. Because I had lost 7.5 lbs since December, he only added .5 cc, which puts me at less than I had to begin with. I'm getting frustrated because I'm not losing weight like I should. In fact, since Wednesday I have gained two lbs. Any thoughts on what to do?

    Where Did The Saline Go?

My doc said he has seen this in a lot of people. It's funny though, because I do feel more restriction now. Perhaps your doc is right Sunshine. It must still be there just not coming out. 1 cc I thought was a lot though. I'm hoping this will help me get jumpstarted again.
  22. Okay, I could use some advice please. I had my surgery on 7/30/07. My ticker isnt' updated, but I'm down about 50 lbs. I'm a little frustrated that I haven't lost faster, although on the other hand I know it's better to lose it slower. I'm going back for a check on Wednesday and I'm confused on whether or not I need a fille. 1. I can eat way more than a cup of food. 2. I can eat bread - although not a big bunch at a time - I can handle it. 3. I do feel restriction when drinking Water after eating though. Do you think I would need a fill or not? I don't want to get too tight, but definitely want to keep losing. I'm exercising, although not as much as I should. I haven't lost any weight in about 1.5 months. ADVICE PLEASE! Thanks!

    Question About Restriction

Thanks for all the advice. I'm at 3.4 cc now. I'm going to discuss with him and hope he will fill more.
  24. becky42

I'm so pissed. Need to vent...

Hope you find relief soon! I've been thinking about getting another fill cause I'm not losing, but I'm a little (ok a lot) afraid of being too tight! Goodluck! Looks like you're having good weight loss!!

    Overfill

I can easily eat one cup of most foods at a time. I am staying around 1,500 calories a day and am having trouble getting in enough protein. (guess I like my carbs)
