  3. Yeah' date=' me too when I was asked about what my ideal weight was I didn't know what to say. I'm 270 now and the smallest I can remember in high school was 190 which was still big I would be happy at 220. I'm very tall

5 11" so Im the same hight as Michelle Obama I cant even see being as small as her. I wonder how much she weighs , anybody know? Speaking of being anxious, I spend so much time on here that It's Un real. I'm going to have to give myself some time restrictions for researching, bloging looking up and watching you tube videos of WLS, so I can get some other things done. Since I've gotten my date its just all that I can think about. I even find my self looking on line at clothing stores that I wouldn't even step foot in because I knew that the only things I could fin into in those stores were the ear rings lol. Now, I'm stalking there websites. lol I think for my hight my weight ideal weight might be 145-150, but that may be to small, but we shall see :-) I'm just going to enjoy the ride down Get Little Street.[/quote']

That weight may be a little to low for your height, im 5"4 & 1/2 (dont laugh at my 1/2)and should weigh 135 to 145 & im the same way I feel like im becoming a RNY addict, I have watched numerous YouTube videos on gastric bypass surgery and tummy tucks, I think I have become completely obsessed. Lol

  4. I am not JW' date=' but I am a little familiar with the beliefs and such. I didn't need any blood, but your surgeon may require you to sign a piece of paper saying if you need it that they can give it to you if they need to save your life. If you express your wishes they should comply.[/quote']

I had a friend who jumped thru all the hoops of having the surgery and had to start all over cuz her surgeon basically refuse not to give her blood if she needed it.

  5. Decided in June that I'm going to do the surgery. Since then I have done SO much research I feel as though I'm a pro already lol. This board has been amazing and makes me so excited. I found out insurance is covering it 100% except a 35 copay and a surgeons fee of 350. Their requirements are cardiology clearance' date=' lung test, psych evaluation and 6 months worth of weigh ins. I got clearance from all already and have my 2nd weigh in tomorrow. 4 more to go. Last one will be mid January. In the meantime I'm trying to lose as much as possible but I'm going to enjoy the hell out of Thankgiving & Christmas this year. I'm thinking surgery will be in February, and it can't come soon enough![/quote']

Congrats your well on your way.

  6. I have seen those pillows! They are very expensive. I have found that those little neck pillows that people travel with' date=' I use on top of my regular pillow and can lay easier with that on my side because the hose for the mask kind of hangs off the edge and isn't smooshed into my face by the pillow. Hope that made sense.[/quote']

Yes it did make sense, and thats a good idea.

  7. I did buy a chin strap' date=' and that does seem to help keep my mouth closed. I am REALLY hoping that after I lose my weight that I won't have to have it anymore. I also am a side sleeper and that doesn't seem to help matters much, either.[/quote']

Yeah they sell contour pillows for ppl w/SA but they cost alot, and for the most part if you loose the weight u will no longer need it. Im a stomach sleeper and it gets in the way but some how I can do it, its crazy tho it is uncomfortable for me to sleep on my side with the mask cuz Its shifts and then I get the air in my eyes. The pillow has like dips or holes on the side to prevent that I cant remember but I wanted 1 but I can c paying 60 sumthing bucks for a pillow.

  8. Hey everyone I'm Kelly :) I'm 23 from Ohio. I'm scheduled to have my bypass surgery on September 10 at 10:30 in the morning at Akron city hospital!! I'm really not scared or nervous as much as I am excited.

For the past few years I have struggled with a bad addiction to food. I was filling gaps in my life by eating horrible foods. After seeking help from an emotional eating counselor and the help of the bariactric team at summa hospital I began my journey last October and decided to undergo laparoscopic rny gastric bypass and I couldn't be happier with my decision.

A woman in my pre operative exercise class recommended this app as a way to reach out and meet people that have also/are planning on having the surgery as well' date=' great idea!! So hello!! If anyone has any questions or comments for me please ask!! Once i find my way around this forum I'll probably be asking a few questions of my own!!

Anyways here are some pictures of me :)

  9. Not for awhile but it will only be a week liquid diet. But I have to lose some weight before my next appointment on the 24th. I have lost 3 pounds in a week but need to lose at least 4-5 more. But all together I need to lose 14 pounds

That week will fly by especially if you keep yourself busy, unfortunately for me like I said I had those side effects, and when I'm dizzy or have a headache I'm done for so I only left the house this past week to drop my kids off and pick them up from school, but my week still went by pretty fast. hopefully yours will too.

  10. Anume is it a pure liquid diet? Or so you do Protein drinks? Just curious if it can help me lose some weight before the 24th

I lost almost 17 pounds in 1 week and I only started working out on the 6th day due to side effects from the Opti fast, I had the nausea, headaches and the fatigue so I've just been kind of taking it easy this first week, but yesterday I started walking on my Wii Fit and doing aerobics on it and I tell you it works I have a treadmill but I didn't want to risk getting dizzy and hurting myself. a friend of mine had surgery about 4 years ago and she said she didn't lose any weight on the fast now I don't know if she didn't do something right or if she did some thing wrong but she said she could loose. I can tell you I was really worried about this part of my journey I thought that I would struggle really bad, with having 2 kids to prepare meals for but so far I've been doing great I have not cheated not 1 time I just pray that these next 3 weeks are smooth. When do you start?

I take in 7 Optifast supplements a day. I can have unlimited amount of sugar free popsicles, sugar free and caffeine free soda if I drink anything that has caffeine in it I have to replace it with Water, because you have to get in 64 ounces of fluids a day, and caffeine drinks does not count. I can have up to 1 cups worth of vegetables a day which are cucumbers celery any color bell pepper and any color lettuce, and you can have red wine vinegar on the lettuce. Also you can have sugar free gum & mints and 1 cup of sugar free Jello. The dietitian also told us ways we can doctor up the Soups & shakes so they won't be so plain, you can add herbs as long as they don't have sugar or salt I like the Mrs Dash in my Soups. You can add instant decaffeinated coffee, vanilla, almond or mint extract to your shakes. I personally like the coffee in both the vanilla and chocolate shakes it taste like a mocha shake or you can put root beer or orange soda in your vanilla shake to make it takes like a vanilla cream popsicle or a root beer float, oh yeah the Water that goes into the shakes and soups counts towards the 64 ounces of fluids a day. I hope that helps.

  12. My surgery was unsucessful...I was admitted at 8:30 am in the morning and ready for 9:30 am. The surgeon made 6 incision outside my stomach area and inserted the larpoc. equipment with air. Then they had to abort the srugery because my heart became weak and my heart rate was so low. My blood pressure went down to 70/40. They pulled the plug and the next thing I knew my surgeon was in the recovery room and told me that he almost lost me because of my heart and pressure. I was devastated and I started to cry. I don't understand why this happened to me? My Cardiologist told me that I was fit to do this surgery and he cleared me. After that they kept me in the hospital for evaluation. They ran some tests on me. They took many blood drawing' date=' a heart cat scan, and 2D echo. All came out negative. Even though the procedure wasn't done I was in pain and haven't eaten for 3 three days. Today they discharge me and I have mild gatric pain. The doctor said to me to schedule an appointment for Monday to discuss my condition and to reschdule my surgery. I'am so hurt and tramatized I don't know what to do now. I guess it was bad luck for me. I'm home know and I'm still crying. I can't believe I had a brush with death.[/quote']

Im really sorry to hear about ur ordeal have you had any previous surgeries
