  1. Saw my surgeon this morning and he says im doing great, & we both cant wait till the 8th, he says im the perfect canidate for this surgery. I love my surgeon he's really down to earth and very easy to talk to, and it's a added plus that he knows all of my other doctors so they all have been working well together to get my surgery on it's way. 11 days to go and I cant wait.:)

  2. Thank you for being so comforting. Tomorrow I'm going to the hospital to retreive those medical documents and send them to the cardiologist. So many of my friends and family are talking me out of it. I don't want to give up. My doctor needs to finish what he started :-)

Only you can make that decision, I understand how family and friends may feel, but they are not living in our bodies even if they may have weight issues they may be comfortable in their own skin, or may not have added issues because of their weight some just dont wanna see you progress to a better you, whatever the case may be the final decision is your and if YOU think it's worth it then FULL STEAM AHEAD. Pray on it.

  3. My doctor is on vacation and I was seen by another doctor who removed my staples. He suggested that I see the pulmonary and cardiologist specialist so they can give me another clearance. He said to make sure before all my other testings will expire. Everything has to be done within' 6 months to a year. I saw the Pulmonary doctor on Saturday and he said to me that what happened to me has nothing to do with my lungs. He said I'am perfectly fit for the surgery. Then I saw the Cardiologist dr ( a new doctor because I refused to go back to the other cardiologist who cleared me without a recent stress test) on Monday and he took my bloods' date=' ekg, 2 d echo, and a breathing test. He asked me to get the my medical records with all the labs and testings the hospital did to me when I was admitted. He explained to me that what happened was that there are two different anesthesias that can jump the heart rate high or lower it. When doing the gastric bypass the doctor has to inflate air to your stomach area because a camera and tools has to go in the incisions for him to work and see the procedure. Once the air is blown in that is when the anesthesia made my heart rate drop. He asked me if I thought about doing the lap band or sleeve. He said the lap band is reversible not the gastric bypass. I said doctor I feel strange thinking to have a foreign object in my stomach and at least with other one I don't want to look back or change nothing. I just want to be healthy again. So I have to return to him in 2 weeks and I go back to work on Monday. Well at least I lost some more weight :-) I was 278 lbs and on surgery day I was 265. Now I'm 260 lbs. I'm going to keep going and hope things work out well. I will keep posting :-) God bless u all.[/quote']

Im really sorry that you went thru and is still going thru all of this, and those Dr should have known about that I sure your not the first person this has happen to. I dont blame you about the lap band I was interested in the lap band until I heard about possible band slipping or erosion plus when I went to the original meeting just to find out more about surgery, the surgeon that I talk to told me that gastric bypass would be a better fit for me, in which that's what I wanted to begin with I just didn't want that big ol huge scar, and I know that sounds very vain of me but at the time that's what I thought about, but now I just want to be healthy. I pray that they can get you back in surgery soon and have it done the right way and what you want, I can imagine being in your shoes also I'm happy you went to see another cardiologists it sounds like the first 1 was incompetent

  4. My surgery date is Oct. 10th!!! I'm getting more and more nervous every day that it gets closer. I'm excited and nervous!! I'm just scared of the unknown I guess. I think the "dumping syndrome" part of surgery worries me a lot. I know at some point I will want something sweet to eat. Is anybody else worried about it? Or am I crazy lol :-)

Im kinda worried about the "dumping syndrome" but honestly since I was in the 11th grade I have suffered from "something" (still to this day to be diagnosed) that is very similar to dumping syndrome, I have all the symptoms, They say its from stress, Dr. says my stomach takes all the stress like how people get stress headaches. The crazy thing is I can drink Water to take my meds and end up in pain in the bathroom I know thats TMI (TO MUCH INFO), but its the truth.

  5. Why are you having to do a month of the liquid diet? I suppose if you can do a month' date=' I can surely do two weeks. Thanks for the encouragement. I'm new to this site and not sure if this will go through...but I hope you will stay in touch especially since we have the same surgery date...I am 3rd up...so they say I will go in around 8:30.[/quote']

I have no clue why I have to do s month I think it all depends on the amount of weight your surgeon wants you to lose although he didnt give me a amount to lose, I know sum one whos way bigger than me and they have to do 6 weeks. When I went to my class there was people who was doing a week or less, and wasnt that big so I figure it prob goes by either your size or the amount you need to lose.

  6. Goodmorning all. Im new and spend more time reading blogs that participating.

I have been working toward the RYN since January this year. I finally have a surgery date of 9/15' date=' I am so excited and scared at the same time. My family is split in their feelings about me having surgery. My PCP ,best friend are all on board. My husband is the basic - what-ever-you-want-to-do-honey.

My tipping point to have the surgery was my knees finally wearing out and the constant pain. My kids bought me a cane as a joke and were shocked when i really started to use it.

My job involves a lot of walking and by the time I get home Im done for the day.

    Welcome and congrats

  7. My surgery date is October 8th. I start my liquid diet Sept. 24th and have to stay on it for two weeks. I am not looking forward to the liquids for that long and I'm scared I won't make it that long with just liquids. I will just have to keep reminding myself that I won't get the surgery if I don't stick to the liquid diet. I too' date=' am cleaning my house (deep cleaning). I don't want to have to worry about that kind of stuff, even tho it will need dusting and vacuuming before I am able. I went through my cabinets, fridge, and freezer and got rid of all the foods I can't have. My poor cabinets are now bare. Fridge is cleaned out and filled with Muscle Milk Light, jell-o and bottled Water. I wish everyone all the best in their new adventure finding the healthy you! May God be with all! [/quote']

Hey we are surgery date buddies, & ive been on the liquid diet for two weeks and got two more to go u can do it just keep telling yourself that. Stay strong

  8. I hate my cpap. Im utterly exhausted when I wake up. My eyes are dry' date=' my mouth is like sandpaper and I have a massive headache. And I think the pressure is too high, it's at 16.[/quote']

Sounds like u need a chinstrap, ur mask adjusted, and ur pressure checked I too went thru all of those things. A different mask could fix all of that I have a full face, and I do go thru some nite where Im constantly fooling around with the mask cuz of air leaking but alot of times you just need to tighten it up. Unfortunately I have to have mines really tight or I get no sleep.

  9. I can relate. I haven't had a great relationship with my mother since one time I was just talking to her about they gonna cut my check & I wasn't able to buy grocery & I have so much bills. She turn around & said you look for your own bills no one told you to buy a new sofa set. I was like what? I got upset & said why are you talking to me like that & hang up the phone. I never once in my life asked for money from anyone. This is coming from a woman that never worked & lived off welfare owes the world & I paid her credit card bill & she still owes me 1000 which she claims she doesn't have it to pay but I given her 2 years to pay me back. so I think to my self she has some nerves talking to me like that when I'm the only one that has help her out.

Yup thats how they are they dont think about things like that when they need u. Mt mom and I for the most part get alone great and if we have a disagreement we agree to disagree and keep it moving, but at the same time some one can call her and she just believes what they say, and I dont even talk to half of my family and not because we are arguing just because life has us going in different directions.

  10. Check this out. They did a new titration where theg put the oxygen thing on your finger and it was better! They took me off the oxygen and came and took the machine. YEAH! I am still on cpap but at least I am off that monster machine. All that exercise is paying off. I can't wait til the surgery and I can get off the cpap machine. I will miss it but will be glad to see it go. Yeah!

    Congrats

  11. Every family has their problems. My brother and I have not spoken to each other in over a year. All Becuse of a word he has used but did not like it when I used it on him. Can we all just grow up.

You have 2 children that need you focus on them and let the rest go their way.

    Surgery Anniversary 7/30/12

Thank you Paul and I too have not spoken to my only sibling over her stupidity. Life is so full of drama that I dont have time for it just amazes me how people can b so quick to bring bring you down, but what I cant seems to let go is the fact that my mother whom I love dearly is jumping on the bandwagon and is believing the hype. I guess she will get over it.
