  1. Wow' date=' I'm glad I found this thread. I thought I was the only one without family support. My wife and daughter are totally against this. My wife won't even go to any meetings or doctor visits with me. I have not made a surgery date yet but have had all my tests, etc. done. I am resigning the fact that I will go this alone. I get plenty of support from everyone else but not at home.[/quote']

    Dave,

My spouse was against it as well. And we are now divorced. He couldn't handle no longer being the only good looking one in the relationship. (I think) you can do this without the support from home but for me it made me bitter.

  2. I almost had a break down at the super market tonight. I wanted to buy a chicken to roast it and the only ones they had were 4+ pounds. I don't need to make such a big chicken just for myself. I'm so sick of my diet and eating the same things. I work 12hrs a day and I'm usually too exhausted to come home and cook just for myself. I'm so sick of tacos' date=' chicken and meatballs. And not to mention I don't even remember the last time I hit my Protein goal. Any quick meal ideas that are easy and super high in protein?[/quote']

Jeep, buy a game hen. Makes 4 meals for you and Walmart sells them for about $2.50.

  4. I really feel for your struggles. It must be such a challenge day to day. But honestly, every surgery has risks. There is a 4% mortality rate with this surgery if my memory serves me. There are so many factors when anyone undergoes surgery. Pre-op diet, post op rules, each surgeon's requirements, and each person's different ways of handling the surgery. Given all of this- this surgery had been life saving for so many, and life changing.

I agree with someone's recommendations to go to mayo clinic. They are the best. Sound like your clinic really messed up. I am hoping you have an attorney filling a major mal practice suit. If not, you should.

How much weight has he lost? Where is he at now?

    Blessings.

  5. Got my liver biopsy test results back my liver is really inflamed plus its fatty duh. so lose more weight will see if your levels go down. I've lost a hundred and five pounds already. what more does he want. My levels bounce back up higher in July so I don't know what's going on. I asked if this is causing all the other issues im having that we can't figure out and he said he didn't think so. so If my levels are still up after I lose another 50 pounds he said come back.

    Hockey,

My levels jump up if I get dehydrated. So drink drink drink. (Hug)

  6. I'm a size lower than I've been in almost two decades...and the other day I wore some new pants for the first time. I had to unbutton them to get them down to pee! Usually I just pull em straight down. I have a WAIST

Even better is when that size which you thought you'd never be can be pulled down without undoing the button. ..lol

  7. My menu.

    Hmm.. varied it is. Lol.

Breakfast is usually a one- two egg omelet with cheese and heavy cream instead of milk. (Low carb- don't care about the fat)

    1/2 glass skim milk.

    Or

Fage 0% yogurt and one- two Cheesesticks as a chaser.

Piece of fruit for snack- or two cups of popcorn if I am bad. Lol.

    Lunch-

My favorite is the child's menu at qdoba- I love their gumbo with steak, small portion with cheese and sour cream no chips. Milk at next snack.

And dinner-Protein and veggies. Like a 4 oz steak or piece of chicken no breading. ( so grilled)

Milk again. Skim. (1/2 cup )

And my snacks- free rein on fruit. Once in a while a small piece or two dark chocolate. Prefer it with nuts. No carb without Protein. Lol. Also, I add nuts to make sure I get my calories and protein.

  8. And calories in vs calories out doesn't always work. That's why diets only work for a while. That starvation mode and metabolism change really impacts it.

I have been on a plateau for at least 6 months, hovering around 160. I have finally started losing weight again. Measured 155 this am. Journaling my food, playing with exercise, taking my Vitamins ( which I had gotten lazy about and had my Vitamin D drop. ) Vitamin d appears to be one of the big secrets for successful weight loss. Imho.

  9. Your body goes into"starvation mode". It's daily needs severely drop- akin to the feast or famine days. The inches vs pounds thing is a part of your body converting fat into muscle-(well sort of- fat goes away and muscle grows from amino acids and Protein intake. )

Muscles weigh more than fat-and have less bulk than fat. So you lose inches but don't lose weight as your body grows muscle.

Does that sort of explain it?
