    Post Op Q's?

I was told that at least 3 weeks in order for all the swelling to go down. surgery date: 7/30/12
  2. It's a lifelong thing. I was told by my endocrinologist. However, due to our surgery, we might not be absorbing all the medication correctly so, we might need a dose adjustment at sometime. Not true for everyone but, it might be the reason for some decreased energy levels. So not a bad thing at all to have checked once in a while. Good luck everyone! surgery date: 7/30/12

    Emergency Room :(

That's what happened to me last week along with the dehydration. I has to have a ct scan with contrast because the docs thought it was a bad hernia. It ended up being a pulled muscle. surgery date: 7/30/12

    Unsupportive Husband..

Ok. Now here's my two cents. My husband was not supportive of this at all in the beginning because he was scared that something bad would happen during the surgery. He is tall and Semi thin (5'11 and 215 pounds). After talking with him and explaining to him how my health could possibly become much better, he was 100% with me. Maybe talking to your husband and telling him the reasons why you want to have the surgery might change his attitude towards your surgery. I made sure I let my husband know that I would still love him the same even though I would become thinner and that my feelings wouldn't change against him, that my feelings would only change about food. Communication and keeping him in the loop of everything is also the key. Good luck:-) surgery date: 7/30/12
  10. I think I am experiencing my first dumping experience...or not? I have bad diarrhea and my stomach is hurting quite a bit. I think it might have been either a bite of hot dog I had yesterday afternoon which was high in fat. Can I experience dumping without having vomiting? I did feel like vomiting but I was able to get rid of that feeling. Now it's just the severe diarrhea. :-( surgery date: 7/30/12

    Akward!

Same has happened to me. I went out and had some Soup. When I asked for a to-go container, the waitress asked me if the soup was not good. I said it was good and she kept looking at me weird. I then explained to her that I had gastric bypass surgery and that was all my tummy could hold. :-) surgery date: 7/30/12

    Dump Or No Dump?

Okay. So I think I did have dumping syndrome then. I felt sweaty and cold and then I felt like I was going to vomit and like I was going to faint. I did lay down for a while last night and it went away but then after a while I started with the diarrhea. Now that I look back I did have a bite of my son's hot dog so that muy have been it. surgery date: 7/30/12

    Question.

I chose the RNY for a totally different reason. I have diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, low thyroid, arthritis of the back and hip, neuropathy, and retinopathy. In march I had lazer treatment in one of my eyes. My eye doctor told me that if I didn't get a grip on the diabetes, I would end up blind within 10 to 15 years and I am only 34! RNY gives me a better change of getting the diabetes under control so that was my major motivation for this surgery. I originally was going to have the lapband but there was no guarantee with that surgery for the diabetes to get better. surgery date: 7/30/12

    Pcos?

Another PCOS victim here! :-( I have no idea what changes to expect. I actually an on the IUD and prior to that I was on the depo shot. I rarely get my period and got it the night of my surgery. I was told by a nurse that it was mainly because of the anti-coagulant shots given to me and that many other female patients get the same. Now what I would like to know is if I will see diminished excess hair growth or not? That has been my major problem:-( surgery date: 7/30/12
