  1. Dear Plumpy Pad, This morning I woke up, and went to the gym. I got on the treadmill, and initially set myself up to do an hour. I could have done an hour, but I just got bored... I did a half-hour instead. I went just over a mile, and when I quit walking my legs sure felt rubbery. After walking, I wandered around some of the equipment. I used the machines I could figure out and fit on. I came home and sent my hubby out to buy me some alphabet soup... however he got the kind in chicken broth!! I have yet to eat anything today, and I feel good. Hungry, but good. I am going to have some soup in a bit. I have decided that to keep things fresh, I am going to stop at Publix on the way home from work everyday and buy my dinner. A can of soup, a lean cusine, etc... If I buy a bunch to have on hand, I will eat it all in one sitting. I know me. I'm planning on going to the gym with my hubby tomorrow morning before work. Not something I plan on doing all the time, but something I think will help me start my week out right!

    Keeping it a secret?

my father is a doctor and i have grown up hearing him say that being overweight/obese is something that can be fixed without surgery, and just some will-power and hard work. i never used to be overweight, but around 5 years ago i went through a breakup that left me eating my feelings (and anything else). for the last 3 years i have struggled to return to "normal," and i know i would not have my father's support if i told him i am thinking about the band. i am VERY close to my father, and that element of not telling someone who is my source of medical advice scares me. i would only tell my husband, and maybe my mom down the line if she promised not to tell my dad.
  5. From meeting Dr. Dietrick at a seminar yesterday, I think he seems wonderful. He was patient with explaining things to us, and he went over how the process involves meetings with psychologists, dieticians, etc... to make sure this causes a LIFESTYLE change. I'm still deciding if I want to take the plunge, but I thought I'd let you know about Dr. Dietrick.
  6. Hey! I attended a seminar yesterday in Tampa for the lap-band procedure. I went to the seminar mainly to learn about gastric bypass, and really knew nothing of lap-band before yesterday. I have yet to really considder how I would pay for it, etc.., but at least it got me thinking and motivated! Was anyone else here at the semeinar with Dr. Dietrick? I thought he was really great, and I am definitely interested in learning more!
  7. Hey everyone, I was born with a genetic heart condition called Long QT Syndrome, which has been fatal to other young, healthy women in my family. I take medication for it to prevent an attack, and I have since I was 8 years old... I know taking pills can be a problem after the procedure, and I wondered if anyone else has any personal experience with what they did with their medications after the band? The doctor that spoke with us at the seminar this morning said that crushing the pills is sometimes okay depending on the situation... any feedback???

    7.07.07: Seminar in Tampa

Dear Plumpy Pad, So this morning at 10AM I was introduced to the wonderful world of the lap-band. I went to the seminar totally focused on gastric bypass, but the lap-band procedure seems much less invasive and safer. It also has nearly the same success rate. I weighed myself, 334.8 lbs. I'm going to just say I weigh 335. I have also set a mini-goal for myself to work out at least 20 hours in the month of July. I only have twenty-four days left, so I need to get crackin'. Please keep this up Bridget. Please continue to research the lap-band, but in the meantime... pull off some pudge.
