  1. It's ok to wear the binder for a little while but just make sure you don't become dependent on it. It makes it so your stomach muscles don't have to work so hard and with long term use those muscles can get weak and it's that much harder to get the strength back. My surgeon doesn't like his patients wearing them for that reason so I never wore one and did just fine with pain after surgery. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk
  2. The liquid part of Soup and chili goes through the pouch quicker than the chunks of food. I know the Wendy's chili here has a good amount of broth and not all chunky. If yours was like that then that might be why you could eat it. But also take into Consideration that before surgery we all probably had a large chili with a big sandwich and a drink so you're still eating much less than u did before. 3. The fatigue and tiredness could be due to low Iron, especially if u are not taking your Multivitamin. You might want to have your doc check your iron levels to see if that might be an issue with the tired feeling. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

    Crazy Question

I read somewhere that a popcicle is about 2 ounces of Fluid if that helps. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

    Attention Pre-Oppers

Yeah I've had no change in taste since surgery so everyone is a little different. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

    Leg Feels Weird

Symptoms of blood clots are an increase in swelling in the leg, redness, the leg will be warm and painful, especially if you pull your foot up towards your shin. Since you said you get a cold sensation I don't think it could be a blood clot. You're pretty far out from the surgery to be getting one too. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

    This Is An Odd Question...

You can wear whatever you want as long as the clothes don't interfere with the IVs or the incisions. I brought pajama pants with me but surprisingly I never put them on. The gowns were actually comfortable plus I was draining from 2 of my incisions so I didn't want to get that all over my pajamas. I did put underwear on the 2nd day when the catheter came out though. That made me feel 100 times better lol. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

    Diarrhea?

I had daily diarrhea for a couple weeks after surgery. But then I was able to move to the soft diet and they became more formed then. I think it was just because of the liquid diet I was on at first. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

    I Don't Feel Like Eating

I feel the same way. I am 5-6 weeks post op and still never feel hungry. What I've had to do is develop a routine and just eat by the clock. My nutritionist wants 3 meals and 2 Snacks a day so I know I have to eat something (or have a Protein shake) at 7 am, 10 am, 1 pm, 3 pm, and 6 pm. This has been the most successful for me. 10. Is metformin a treatment for PCOS? I have never heard of that before. I have always just taken birth control for my PCOS. I too lost a lot of weight the first week and it slowed down but I'm still managing to lose 2 to 3 pounds a week. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

    Pre-Op Liquid Diet

Yeah as long as you strain the soup it's still a liquid. I did that a lot during my pre op diet. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

    Lovenox Injections ?

They gave it to me while I was in the hospital but I didn't have to go home on it. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk
  14. I believe for medical reasons you can get out of it. Your surgeon should be able to write something up for you. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

    Countdown Begins

We sure do have this! I have surgery tomorrow so today was clear liquids only and it's been hard. I never thought I would say I miss my protein drinks! Best of luck to starting tomorrow and anyone else nearing the end. We are all on our way to new lives!

    Tri Care!

Every doc is a little different from what I've read on here. Some only have 1 to 2 days of a liquid diet and others have 3 to 4 weeks. My doc has his patients do 2 weeks. Tomorrow is my last day and then surgery on Tuesday :-)

    Tri Care!

Wow that's awesome! I waited 3 weeks for approval from my insurance.

    Protein

From what my nutritionist said was that the protein can come from any source, the shakes are just one of the options. So if u are getting all your protein through food then you don't need the shakes.

    Gastric Band

I believe what you are talking about is an abdominal binder. I haven't had surgery and my surgeon didnt mention anything about wearing one. Just like the diet progression I guess every surgeon is a little different.

    Frustrated

The numbers on the scale not moving has always been my downfall when trying to diet before so I've made the decision to have my husband hide the scale when I'm in the hospital so I'm not tempted to weigh myself all of the time.

    Looking For A Little Love

Make sure you bring your protein and lots of liquid things on your trip. I went out of town tonight and it was really hard to find soup or something for me to eat whenever everyone else wanted to go out.

    Ahh A Great Dinner!

How far are you out? Just wondering when I can eat something like that. I'm on my liquid preop diet right now and just about any food looks amazing lol.

    Omg

I'm from Ohio! Having my surgery on Tuesday in Bowling Green. I know what u mean about ugly pictures. I have my fair share of them. But that will soon change for both of us!
  25. Glad to hear you're OK! We will keep praying for ya. Keep your head up :-)
