  1. Hi, I am a nurse. I was banded in April of 08. I am not loosing the weight like I want. I lost most of my weight the first month and then little by little. I am definately not loosing the amount I should be. I have 5.0 in a 10 cc band. I had an unfill 2 weeks ago. Now I can eat too much. I was definately too tight before that as I couldn't keep down my pills and could eat a couple bites and then I was stuck. I feel better but now not tight enough. I am frustrated and hungry most of the time. I just ordered some DVD's to get the exercise going again. I would like a buddy to help me along. If someone is out there with some advice or has the time to help that would be great. Thanks mama59:wub:

  2. Hee Hee, I am right there with you!!!!!! Since the lapband I have been taking benefiber, so maybe that explains it. I have always been very discreet when it comes to that and it is embarassing to say the least. Maybe it will get better. mama59:embaressed_smile:

  3. I was banded the 22nd also. I couldn't poop for 2 days and I was bloated and felt full. I was used to going everyday and wanted to continue that. I wanted to take benefiber but wasn't sure if I should. I called the surgeon and he had me take an enema. I did and felt way better. It got me going and I take benefiber daily in my crystal lite. You can't possibly be putting things in your system without something coming out. (sorry to be blunt or crude). Call you surgeon. He needs to know. mama59

  4. I had to do the 6 month physician supervised diet. In that time frame I didn't loose 1 pound but gained 4. I was told that the amount doesn't matter it is the compliance factor that counts. The fact that you were trying, that you saw the doctor every month and tried to do what they suggested. I was approved at the end of the six months. mama59

  5. I ate alot of the high Protein Jello. I put either the vanilla Unjury with any flavor jello (sugar free) and then some sugar free cool whip. I also used the strawberry sorbet unjury with any of the red jellos. They have chocolate that I mixed with soy milk and a couple of ice cubes in the blender. I don't blen very hard or it gets too much air in it. I couldn't handle the chicken Soup unjury but personal preference. mama59

  6. I am day 6 and doing pretty well. I thought for sure that someone had punctured my lung when they put in the trocars during surgery. My neck and chest hurt so bad. I couldn't imagine what they could have done to my neck to make it so hard to move. I kept using the incentive spirometry they gave me so I could keep my lungs moving. I could get it to 2000 or 2500 and figured if I could do that then I couldn't possibly have a collapsed lung. The next day I was so much better. Keep taking the pain medicine. My problem now is that I feel like I am in continual starvation mode. I eat (drink) my meals and within 1 hour I am so darn hungry, almost to the point of pain or nausea. I keep telling myself it will get better but 6 weeks of this will be hell. I hope you get to feeling better. mama59

  7. I am 4 days post op. Things have gone pretty well. I was in misery the first two days with neck, back and shoulder pain. I took the liquid Vicodin every 4 hours which helped alot along with the heating pad. I did two full days of clear liquid and have advanced to some very thin cream of wheat this morning, baby food applesauce and creamy vegetable Soup for lunch. I feel relatively good and haven't had pain meds all day. I took some Milk of Mag yesterday without results and took a glycerin suppository about 30 minutes ago with no results. Does anyone have any suggestions or comments. I think I would feel less bloated if I could only "poop" if you know what I mean....Maybe with liquid diet there is not enough in there? I hear my tummy growling and I have hunger pain. Anyone else have this going on?

  8. It is quite common not to talk to anesthesia until the morning of surgery. You can't usually call them up either. Most don't have an office. They go to work at surgery, they are there all day and they go home from there. Usually they have a billing office. The nurse you spoke to for your pre-op interview should have answered most questions about the anesthesia. The morning of surgery the Anesthesiologist will come in and introduce themselves to you. You will have a general anesthetic which means you will get medicine thru your IV to relax you and then they give you other meds to put you to sleep. Once you are asleep they intubate you with a breathing tube. You have monitors for your heart, blood pressure, Oxy gen level, temperature etc. They do the surgery and you wake up in recovery. Hope that helps a little. mama59:smile:

  9. I am scheduled for surgery on April 22nd. I think about it alot and wonder if I am doing the right thing. I have been going thru this process since June of last year. I want it bad....but this pre-op diet has been a real test for me and I hope I am strong enough to follow the rules. I am not backing out but I am nervous about it and it is on my mind alot. I hope you do well. Keep us posted....mama59

  10. Hello everyone,

I too had to do the 6 month supervised diet. I didn't lose but 4 pounds during this time and I was really worried that they would not approve me because of that. I called the Surgeons office today to see why I hadn't heard anything. She called me a couple of hours later and said that they hadn't received any of the things that the office had faxed and that there had been a change in my coverage that excluded weight loss surgery. I was very very sad and disappointed. I did call the insurance company and ask if we had had a coverage change and they didn't know of one. I was then feeling better but still worried that it once again wouldn't happen. Then the phone rang and it was the surgeons office telling me that they received word that I was approved and when did I want to schedule. Talk about a roller coaster of emotions......whew!!!!!:biggrin2:

  11. Hello,

I am waiting on insurance. They (United Healthcare) denied me and I had to do the 6 month Physician supervised diet. I am now waiting to see if I get approved. I am wondering. I have heard that your hair gets very thin after the surgery and I have very thin hair now. Does anyone know if that is true? Also I worry about the PB as everyone refers to. If you happen to be out to eat or with people and have to excuse yourself for this PB it is hard for me to grasp this.... thanks Julie:confused2: Sounds like it is going well for you and that you are happy with the band.
