  1. I am about 4 months out and I know immediatiately when I have eaten too fast or not chewed enough. It literally feels like my food is stuck in my throat and the only way to resolve the psin is to have it come back up. It is the most miserable thing ever! I feel your pain brother!

I've found the easiest thing is to not wait more than 3 hours between eating' date=' then I'm not so hungry![/quote']

You are so so right! I'm the same way.

  2. I'm just starting my journey and have my first appt on the 5th but wanted to ask everyone that has had their surgery if you came home with anything attached to you. While reading a few post from the hospital forum where I will be having my surgery they talk about a GI tube and a drain still being in when they got home and not coming out till like 4 weeks. Also I read somewhere else that someone had the pain Med bubble thing (lol sorry don't remember what its called). I'm going to ask my dr at my appt but was interested in how many of you came home with something attached and how long till it was removed. Dr office told me 8-12 weeks from initial appt til surgery so I'm looking at end of Oct beginning of Nov so trying to get as much info as possible.

I was sent home with a surgical drain for a week than it was taken out at my one week appointment

  3. I am almost 4 weeks post op and starting to have cravings. I am feeling like I want to go back to the bad habits of before. It is scaring me so badly. I want to be healthier and live a better life I want to run and play with my children. I want to feel good about myself but then these cravings come and I fight such an emotional battle inside. I feel on edge at some moments and perfectly happy at others. I have no regrets in having the surgey and am very thankful I have this tool to help in my loss. Please pray for me....

Trust me them cravings are not worth it, either you will be on the toilet or your face in the can. Your in my prayers though it gets better!

  4. FYI. My BMI was 39.1' date=' with high blood pressure, pre diabetes, and PCOS. Count it, three health (weight related) issues. I was referred in the first place by my PCP who has been with me for years watching me struggle, loose 30lbs then gain it back, and so on and so on. I have worked with a nutritionist and still do, I write down everything that goes in my mouth, count all of calories, and eat pretty healthy. I also walk and go to the gym several times a week. I am just a big girl. With a slow metabolism. Everything when down hill after I had my son. I also have three abdominal hernias because I carry all my weight in the front, in my belly. I have a "apron" as they call it, that I have to life to put deodorant on so I do not get a nasty sweat pool under there because its 110 degrees right now where I live. If I would have had all the proper documentation of my Pcos and High blood pressure I would have been approved the first time, except I risked submitting to the insurance right away because of my weight alone. Knowing there would be a chance I would be denied. So when I re submitted I wanted to make sure I was at a 40 bmi because according to my insurance that was the reason why. Again Let me remind you guys that this is a SUPPORT GROUP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![/quote']

Wow I can't believe your insurance didn't approve you with a BMI of 39.1, I'm only 5'6 and my highest weight was 222 , I had high blood pressure and I was approve 3 days after they faxed my file... And my BMI was 35... That's odd that denied you with your health issues that sucks.... Just don't give up RNY is a long road. But it is your journey ... No one elses yours! Everyones body is different ! I wish you the best of luck and may God bless you!

I called my insurance company to see what was going on, they told me it was approved I called my surgeon with the approval ref number , he schedule me for two weeks after that.... Good luck, try giving them a call make sure your paperwork didn't get pushed to the side, should not take longer than 10 days to let u know if your approved....

  6. I'm currently sitting in a Starbucks and have already sucked down half of my venti iced skinny vanilla latte. It's HOT outside and it's delicious. Unfortunately I just looked at their nutrition pamphlet and a venti skinny flavored latte has 22 grams of sugar in it! DOH!!!!

How is that possible? The vanilla Syrup is sugar free. Is it from the nonfat milk? Do you think they're counting the lactose?

This is not my first skinny latte since surgery. It doesnt cause me any problems.

Can someone shed some light on this for me?

You have to let them know sugar free with skim milk

  7. I am 4 months post-op and down 75 lbs (yay!)' date=' but suddenly I'm noticing heartburn and possibly too much acid in my stomach causing ulcer-like pains (it feels like someone is trying to burn a whole through the wall of my stomach). Sometimes it seems to get better with food and/or Tums. Anyone else experience this? I thought I was cured of heartburn once and for all! :(

Also, since I've lost all this weight, I started hurting MORE! I started having knee pain just a year or so before my surgery which went away at some point post-op. Now that I'm the lightest I've been in over 10 years, my ankles have started hurting when I go shopping as do my feet, and my hips! Why the hips?? My knees will hurt on occasion too. Is it from increased exercise, possibly?

Thank you for your input! :)[/quote']

Sounds like ulcers to me , I was going through that pain before I had surgery , very painful my husband thought I was nuts, cause I tell him my inside is on fire! Found out it was stomach ulcers my surgeron put me on Pepcid and that helped a lot

  8. So' date=' I guess doing it on your own is doable, just sucky? I could get one of this grabby claw things...[/quote']

I had my mother around the first day home, but I ain't need her for anything. I was able to do everything on my own and take care of my two children including taking one of them to daycare 6 days after surgery. Just take your time with what ever you doing, no heaving lifting. No driving if you took pain meds... It's definitely doable just take your time , and get up and walk walk walk I'm telling you them short 15 min walks are life savers ..... Good luck and best wishes, I felt the same way you do, I didn't want anyone around me after surgery...

  9. Anyone have some bicep and tricep work outs that have really worked for them? I am starting to notice a bit of lose skin and I know toning won't cure it all but it can help.

    Thank you!

I been using arm weights with a arm workout DVD you can find a Walmart for like $7. Use the weights to build the muscle in your arms :)

  10. Not being able to keep things down. I have been so active' date=' but it always ends in feeling sick and sore. I know I must sound like a baby, but it's really hard to deal with. I get plain tired of getting sick everytime I eat. Now, I don't even like the way food feels in my pouch. Don't even really want to eat. And that's combated by the fact that I'm always hungry and miss food. It's the strangest struggle yet.[/quote']

Ask your to try you on Prilosec , my surgeon gave me the for getting sick all the time , I was afraid the first time I took it , but afraid throwing up all day I tried it and been fine since you take b4 meal I normal take at Breakfast cause you only take once a day. I feel much better since givin these pills.
