Good for you Kimmy. Sounds like you are doing fine. I have my ups and downs. Doc says I took my pain pills too fast so I don't think I get any more, ugh. Yay, Rachel. I'm as pleased as you about being able to sleep on my side. I have a huge amount of pillows surrounding me. My Facebook name is Leslie Ikley. Please add me to the group if you get the chance.

I'm Leslie Ikley on Facebook. I haven't got the energy to update my name to my married name. (Kirkland).

I don't know for sure, yet. We'll see. I haven 't thoroughly investigated my short list of allowed foods for 4-6 weeks post op. Just the beans will be nice at first. I hope cottage cheese is also on the list. On another note. I can get in and out of bed way better than yesterday, but the odd sharp pains inside my belly are sure not fun.

I wish I could have tomato soup. Not yet. My doctor only allows clear liquids for two weeks. I'm actually looking forward to fat free refried beans. I'm so pleased you're home again, Rachel. And I hope diarrhea stays away. Ugg. We sure don't need extra gross stuff in addition to the super fun gas. I also think I got a UTI from the catheter. That's just great. Can't get too upset because I know it's actually been pretty smooth sailing for me so far. Goodnight to all, I hope you sleep well.

Thanks, Sassy, before I get too big a head, I should admit that now I'm exhausted. I've pawned my son off on my wonderful step-daughters. My left side keeps getting the sharp pains you all are mentioning. Off to take a pain med and try to sleep away the hurtiness.

So sorry, Rachel and Jessica. I hope you both feel better soon. Starting to get a little better for me. I even went to Walmart and held my baby today. Of course, now I'm all ready for pain med and a nap, but I'm still pretty pleased. I'm staying away from the scale as much as I can because I still feel so bloated. It's wired cooking for the kids and smelling pizza without eating any. At least I can honestly say that I'm not hungry. Just drinking the protein is work. Getting closer and closer to a slimmer, leaner me. Yay!

I've been home since yesterday by 4:30. Last night and this morning hurt the worst. I want to heal right now. Keep having to tell myself I made the right choice. Sure is hard. I get weepy and ask "why did I do this to myself?" I know it will get better. I felt do good at hospital I got to thinking, "hey, it's not so bad!" Just seems to get worse. Wish I could sleep through the whole recovery. Ok, enough whining like a baby for now. I really am going to be fine. I sure wish the best to all of you!

Yay! I should get to go home today. Have you been able to pee, yet? I'm still waiting. I'm about to ask for a catheter for the second time. I hate having to pee so bad and not being able. Otherwise my pain is not as bad as I thought either. Congratulations to you!

    Nightmares?

Hi, Kat! It was just a dream. You'll be fine. I think if clothes shopping when I get to feeling "why did I do this?"

    Attention Pre-Oppers

I sure hope I still like milk. Sure will make my protein shakes even worse if not. Sorry for your loss. Oh, and good luck with your positive loss. Oxymoron, I know, but losing weight sure is a plus!

All is good. I've been post-op for 7 hours. I'd be asleep now if I hadn't been woken up to give my vitals. I haven't even been asked to walk, yet. Which surprises me. I'm feeling no pain right now. Just had to get past throwing up and dizziness for a few hours right after I woke up. Congratulation to Rachel and everybody else. I keep dreaming of trying on smaller and smaller sizes. Yay to us all! Good luck and speedy recovery wishes!

Thank you Amazeyem and Ciaobella! It helps to know others have made it. Tomorrow's my big day. Congratulations to everybody. Good luck to my surgery buddies. I'll be thinking of you. Now, time to buy feed for the cattle, finish laundry, and get packed up. Hope I don't forget anything.

Do any of you have babies? I'm starting to wonder how crazy I was to do this with a 9 month old. I am going to have help with him, but not picking him up for at least two weeks sure sounds rough on the both of us. My surgery is Tuesday. I'm excited, anxious, scared. I only had to do a 4 day liquid diet. Today is number 3. It hasn't been as hard as I thought. It is weird how often I catch myself automatically thinking of eating something and I have to remind myself not to eat it.

I weigh 280 today. Only 11 days until surgery. I have blood work and a meeting with the surgeon. Pulled out a bunch of my saved jeans from my thinner years. Sure am excited about fitting into them again.

Yes! And everything keeps going on around me even though I sort of wish I could put a pause on the rest of my life long enough to get through the scary painful part of the surgery.

Wow! This month is flying so fast! Good luck to everybody. It's so nice to see the members cone back to us on the "other side." As in after the surgery. It still just doesn't seem real. Does anyone else feel this way before. I'm starting to wonder how much changes? Weight loss? Sure. Energy? I hope so. But emotional? Hmmmm? Just wondering.

Good luck and congratulations to everybody! I hope you're all great! I'm so nervous and ready to get surgery over. I weight 280lbs right now. I haven't lost any pre-op. I gained 15 in the last 2 months. Ugg. Can't seem to drop it like I could a few years ago. My doctor only requires a 4 day liquid diet, though I'm considering adding a few days for good measure.

I haven't been on in a few days and I can't figure out how to respond to you without the quotes. I just wanted to say that you are a wonderful lady. You always have such nice, helpful things to say. I must admit I look forward to reading your posts. I hope your health is improving and the surgery is as little trouble as any surgery can be. I look forward to less foot pain, no more cpap to sleep, and the many other benefits of weight loss. Only three weeks left. The time sure flies. I have a pulmonary clearance appt. in a couple hours. I think only pre-op blood work and pre-op surgeon after that. Are you almost done with all your requirements?

Howdy! I hope everyone is doing well! Getting nervous/excited I'm sure. I have a new situation. My surgery date has been moved to sept. 25th. I don't mind too much. My biggest concern is that I carry my own insurance right now. I am going to quit my job as soon as I can and I wonder how long my insurance will cover me after I quit? Do I have to work up until the surgery to keep it covered? I will switch to my husband's after, do I'm not worried about no coverage, just about the surgery. I've been approved by my and I don't want to start over again. I work over nights. My husband and I have decided to keep me home to take care of the house and our children. I'm excited, but, like I said, I get very worried that something will happen and they won't want to pay for this surgery. ----whew, there's my venting for the day! Good will to everyone and I hope you all have beautiful days!

    I Quit.......

I felt that way at first, but now it's been almost 5 years since I've smoked and other people's smoke bothers me more than ever. I can't believe I used to smell line that all the time and never noticed.

    Duodenal Switch (Ds)

Good luck! Sounds like you've already put in alot of time and effort. I can offer no advice since I'm new also and awaiting my surgery. It is nice to see so many people who share similar experiences. I hope you are feeling great and have much success!
