  1. It took me 6 months of walking in the park with 2 bad knees all winter. In March my weight was staying the same so I felt like I needed to do more. I went to LA fitness which is 2 minutes away and signed up. I bought a skirted bathing suit and started Aquafit classes. Believe me there are no bathing beauties in those classes. A lot of older people with their knee & hip replacement scars. It really got the wt loss going again and I'm having a good time.

Just DO IT. You'll feel so much better.

  2. 7/27/11 Preop wt 284

    7/27/12 162. 122 lb loss

Went to the beach and forgot my chair(rated for 300lbs). Sat on one of my friend's flimsy beach chairs. It was comfy and I didnt need to worry about it breaking. Last year I would no have fit in it..

Aarval I got stuck in the 180's too. Joined Water aerobics and I started losing again. It's fun and I like going which is a plus.

  3. Yesterday's wt 163. I had my 1 yr follow up on Thursday. 120 lbs lost ....87% of my excess body wt is gone! I plateaued in March so I joined LA fitness and started aquavit classes 4-5x a week. Lost20 lb since I joined April 1. Love it. Great for people like me who don't like to sweat.

  4. I had my gastric bypass at Beth Israel Deaconess in Boston by Dr Schneider. Excellent team. Thorough preop evaluation process. They are on Patientsite which is a secured health care site. You can email the team if you have questions or problems. I developed lactose intolerance after surgery. The nutritionist got back to me with a solution and I felt better within a day. I can't wait til my 1 year appointment in a couple of weeks. 117 lbs gone and still losing.

  5. I had smelly urine, breath, and BO and a terrible taste in my mouth from ketosis. It will go away after you stop losing weight quickly. I thought it went away after 3 months but my sister said it was more like 5 months.

Spry mints helped a lot. They are sugar free.< /p>

  6. It' been almost 1 year. I had my RNY 7/27/11 in Boston where I worked as a nurse. One day I ruptured the meniscus on my left knee, then found out I needed both knees replaced. I hadn't been able to kneel for years. I couldn't imagine having the replacements at my weight. It was really hard to get around on crutches. I got evaluated for gastric bypass ( I wanted lap band but was told that people with limited mobility don't do well).

I was very fearful of complications but my anesthesiologist was someone I knew. I woke up in recovery to a familiar voice. A nurse I worked with in my ICU days. She called the floor nurses and told them I worked at the hospital for 40 yrs so they gave me a private room.

The first few months were difficult with fatigue, dizziness, etc.

Well, now I feel fabulous. I've lost 117 pounds. I still need the knees fixed but I'm able to do Aquafit classes 4-5 times a week.
