    Couples?

I'm am 12 months out from my surgery date as of June 6th and my husband is 16 months out. It has been a great experience going through this together. I've lost 130 pounds and he's lost 207 pounds. We both want to lose about 90 or so more pounds each. You can really help each other so much but you are still different people with different bodies and may have different reactions to things. Chicken made me sick as a dog and that was all that didn't make him sick when we were in the puréed food stage. Best of luck to both of you!
  2. I'm 6 months out, just about 7 months. My surgery was 6/6/12 I've lost 100 pounds. I'm eating 3 times a day and getting my fluids. Don't have to drink my protein unless I need help getting it along with my food intake. I still have issues with hunger. I know I'm not really hungry but sometimes I can't tell. When I feel this way I get a drink of water and then the full feeling comes back. I am waiting the 30 minutes after eating to drink as I've been told by my nutritionist to do. I've had this issue since before the surgery, am I hungry? My stomach is growling, is it hungry, is it digesting the food I just ate? All this is running through my mind. I've had such an easy time of this whole process. I have been truly blessed with no complications and very little pain during recovery. I've only have had a couple of bouts of getting sick while learning to eat again. I still have a long way to go and I don't want to screw this up! Is anyone else dealing with this? Has anyone gotten through this and does anyone have any suggestions for me?
  3. I'm thinking currently BMI of 46. I'm mostly focused on weight loss #'s. I'm at the point now where things will slow down so I need to ramp up my exercise. I work in a warehouse 9 to 10 hours a day on the mid shift. After I get my daughter off to school I get myself ready and head to work. I don't get home until 8:30 or 9 pm and I'm not really motivated to exercise. So I have to quit making excuses and get my but in gear. I'm happy to answer any questions you may have. I've been blessed in that I think my experience has been easy compared to some I've seen here.
  4. Hang in there! I trusted my wonderful surgeon to choose what was best for me. Same situation. Young, no major health issues yet but didn't want to die because of my weight. There are many options as far as bariatric vitamins. Buy small amounts and find what suits your stomach. Keeping in mind what works now may not work after surgery and what you can't stand now works great after surgery. Same with protein supplements. I've found my body to be quite contrary!

    Head hunger

Thanks everyone, it really helps knowing I'm not the only one!
  6. I was 376 when I had my surgery on 6/6/12. I'm now at 271! I never really thought about what size I'd be but I've been focusing on ideal weight for my height. I'm only 5'2". So my goal according to a chart I found ( height, weight, age and sex) was about 140. I have a long way to go but I've got a good start! I've only bought new undergarments. Just been shopping in my closet for clothes. Pretty soon I'm going to have to go so I'm thinking about going to Goodwill. I have a rewards card from there and they have a woman's clothing section.
  7. My husband is going through the same thing. I'm looking forward to seeing if this is a phase or not. I've not had this problem. There have been things that didn't agree with me but the only thing that I wanted nothing to do with was BBQ and I'm ok with that now as long as it is not to sweet. He's 10 months out and 180 down and I'm 6 months out and down a little over 100 pounds.
  8. Should be fine if desk bound. I work in shipping in a warehouse so I had to wait four weeks. Good luck!

    Caltrete Gummies

We were told no gummies as they would not dissolve quick enough and could get stuck. As for the sugar content it is to much at once and you are having symptoms of dumping syndrome. Only 5 grams at the most per serving of sugar was h guideline I was given. There are many choices for bariatric. Bariatric Advantage vitamins. They taste pretty good lots of flavors to choose from and no dumping. Good luck to you!

    September Members

My pre-op and surgery date were given to me the same day. I guess it's up to the doc's office everyone may be different. As soon as they got my approval from my insurance it was set.

    Friday Weigh-In!

That's fantastic! I was 376 on my surgery date of 6/6/12 and I haven't weighed in yet today but was at 301 last Friday. Keep up the good work.

    Sleeping

I had to sleep in an easy chair with my feet up. Couldn't sleep on my side because it pulled on my incisions. I was not in pain but discomfort. I took a 1/2 dose of my pain meds to help me sleep but only had to do that 3 times. This lasted for about a week then i was back in my bed. I had my surgery on June 6th 2012.

    Trouble With Food

My daughter was cooking herself something and I immediately started gagging from the smell! It was the BBQ sauce, loved it before but now the mere scent sends me to the bathroom. :0(

    Pure Protein

If you like the shake but want more flavor you can boost the chocolate, vanilla ect. with sugar free syrup. I found them at Deals and Wal-Mart in the coffee aisle. Really helps!

    Medication

I had a pain patch and they gave me med's in the IV. I was never in pain, just soreness and discomfort. If you let them know you are experiencing pain right when you start to feel it they stopped it right away with med's. When I went home I had liquid Vicodin and only had to use it 3 times and that was only to get to sleep and I only took a half dose. My only issue was I couldn't sleep in my bed I had to sleep in my easy chair. I was to uncomfortable to lay flat all night and I'm a side and tummy sleeper. When I tried to sleep on my side it pulled my incisions to much so it was back to the chair! I went back to work 4 weeks after my surgery and I work in a warehouse in a very physical job lifting up to 50 lbs 9 to 10 hours a day with no restrictions. I thought that was crazy but it's been a week and I'm fine. The only thing I had a problem with was tiredness and a little weakness. Hope all goes well!
  16. I was so scared too! Never had surgery before and was only in the hospital once to have my daughter ( was scared to get the IV then lol!). My surgery was June 6th and I'm doing great! We're here for you! You CAN do this! Hugs!
  17. Whoops, Rose-Marie Jones, lol!
  18. I'm from Indianapolis Indiana. My doctor is Rose-Marie Jones
  19. I'm coming up on my 4th week post op from RNY Gastric Bypass and I'm heading back to work. My question is does anyone work a really physical job? I work in a warehouse and do a lot of lifting sometimes 75 pounds plus! I was told I could go back with no restrictions.
