    Constipation

I'm having problems with constipation also, I take milk of magnesia twice a week to keep things moving. I'm 14 weeks, as of thursday.
  4. I went in to the OR at 7:42, they had me out cold at 7:50, that was the last thing I remember, was looking at the clock. I woke up in recovery around 10:20, I think, I didn't have my glasses on so I couldn't be sure, and I was super groggy. By my parents said my surgeon came out at around 10 to tell them everything went well.

    pre op diet question

at the beginning of my journey I got dizzy a lot, I went to my doctor and he said it was because I was dehydrated, and he gave me 2 bags of Fluid and I felt better. make sure you are drinking 64+ oz of Water.

    setting goals

My doctor told me I could lose as much as I wanted if I set my mind to it. I'm aiming for 170, that would tuck me in to the appropriate bmi range. I'd be happy just being under 200 though.

    New here, three weeks out

Eek, I still shutter when I think about refried beans. But it's a necessary step, you do not want to move any faster, trust me. Jumping in to solid food was hard for me, it felt like a tun of bricks were sitting on my pouch, because I started too early.

    Can eat a lot

My surgeon explained that our pouch is like a funnel. If you put something liquid through the funnel it goes straight through, and you can keep putting more in. If you put in something simi-solid, then it will take longer to go through, thus you can eat less.

    New here, three weeks out

Hello, and welcome, I'm 21 and had my surgery 3 months ago. This is a great community.
  12. Dumping/digestive distress: 1. Do YOU dump? Yes I do. 2. What kinds of things do you dump on? For example, do you react to sorbitol (A hidden sugar)? I mostly dump on fats and grease. 3. Fruit has natural sugars- Can you eat fruit without distress? No problems with fruits, although I can't handle the skins on grapes and strawberries. 4. How long did it take you to figure out what you couldn't eat without distress? There are a few months of trial and error you have to learn to eat all over again. 5. Are you lactose intolerant? Or are you milk intolerant? no problems with milk. 6. Are you gluten intolerant? No problem with gluten 7. What foods cause digestive distress (not necessariy dumping)? overly processed foods will give me indigestion. Vitamins: 8. What did you take to start with? I take Centrum chewiables, and citricel petites 9. Has that changed as you have gotten further out? not really 10. Do you know of any Vitamin company that carries a brand that is kind of an all-in-one, to minimize the number of vits I will need to take? Not really, I would recomend getting the sepporates, because of the limited absorption, it's best to take them at different times. 11. Are you struggling with any vitamin deficiencies? not as long as I take my vits Life impact:: 12. Are you happy with your RNY? (Honesty please) I am very happy with my RNY, it's changed my life completely, and I love it. I had a wonderful surgeon, and my recovery was the stuff of dreams, according to my surgeon. 13. Have you had any complications? No complications thus far. 15. Is there ANYTHING you wish you would have known (good or bad) before your RNY that you know now? I did pretty extensive research and was prepared for the surgery. I knew what to expect. Although, I didn't know quite how difficult it would be to break up with food. 16. Is there ANYTHING that you think *I* should know that I may not discover on my own in my very limited window of time to learn about the RNY? Do all your research, ask everyone questions, break up with food. I would also recommend a therapist, Just to have an outlet. Get your family/friends on board, a strong support group is very important. Best of luck, this surgery is the best thing to have happen to me. And feel free to ask any questions.

    Having surgery Monday!

Congrats y'all! It's the start of a new life. I went in so freakishly excited, I don't think I've been more excited about anything than I was that morning. Y'all will do great!
  14. Size 22!!! 3 sizes down from 28!!!!

  15. I googled RNY forums, and this one and ThinnerTimes came up, ThinnerTimes wasn't as beneficial to me as this one has been. I like the format of these forums, and the fact that there is an app.

    Calerie Count

That's pretty typical for around a month out.

    Krispy Kreme

Take this pre-surgery time to work out why you eat. Examine what you're feeling when you binge, and that will be an excellent start to this new lifestyle. I would also recommend therapy, Just regular talk therapy, I went through 6 months of therapy pre-op to address my food-related issues, and I think that was probably a blessing in disguise, because I was able to address and re-direct my emotions with food. Sometimes you need a little bit of help figuring yourself out, and It's really comforting to have a non-biased third party to talk to during this adjustment. I still see mine twice a month and I'm 3 months out.

    Newbie!

Damn, I honestly think you may have dodged a bullet with the first surgeon. Hopefully this time around will be great! I had my surgery 3 months ago, and it's by far the best decision I had ever made. I've tried for years to lose the weight, I can't remember a time when I wasn't on a 'diet', it's hard to do it on your own, and sometimes we need a tool to help us. This surgery is my savior, definitely a god-send. This is a great community, welcome, there is a lot of information that you can learn here, and a lot of people who will support you, myself included. Any questions feel free to ask. Best of luck.
