I used this brand years ago before I ever gave RNY any thought when dieting and loved the flavor of it. I was also using this pre surgery for awhile, but then, when I compared the Bariatric fusion and Advantage brands found out the other nutrients and Vitamins were missing so stopped using this. I'm wondering though, now since I'm post surgery and taking all the Vitamins, if I could begin using this again. The calorie content of this is much lower then any of the other's I've been trying to use since surgery also. I can't stand the taste of any of the others since my surgery and know I'm not taking in enough Protein a day. It's also on sale right now on Vitacosts website. http://www.vitacost.com/optimum-nutrition-gold-standard-whey-double-rich-chocolate

  2. I'm 1 month post op and still have the very tired exhausted feeling. Every afternoon at work, I just want to go take a nap and when I get home from work all I want to do is sit in my recliner and doze. I asked other's I work with that have also had RNY recently and many said they experienced the same thing. I know I need more Protein, I'm having a very hard time with the taste and texture of any of the shakes, and I've tried many brands and flavors. I figured mine feelings of exhaustion are partially due to not getting enough protein. I've been told repeatedly, you've been through major surgery, your body needs time to heal and get used to it's new pouch and to just be patient. The tired feeling constantly is hard to deal with though, I do agree.

  4. Thanks Losing! The Almond Joy shake sounds fantastic! I'll need to check out the capella flavorings. I have invested so much money into buying different kinds of Protein powders. I really enjoyed my shakes before my surgery, but since surgery, I am having a very hard time drinking them. I even bought a container of the Decaf Click expresso, thinking this had to be so good with a mocha flavor, it ended up being one more container that sits on my counter that I don't like at all. I'm hoping my tastes change and I'll start liking them again.

  5. Hi K,

I also have had low back pain for years, but after the surgery, it seemed all my pain had settled into low back. I'm 15 days post RNY as of today, Monday. It hurts daily now, and much more after I've been up walking around a lot. I complained about the severe pain in my low back when I was in the hospital and they said it was probably from the position on the operating table. I think it's more then that though for me, and am hoping it gets better as I lose the weight. I also have a new pain in the last 2 or 3 days. This one is on the right side of my belly button. I did have an inguinal hernia they took care of during surgery that I wasn't aware was there and now I'm wondering if this pain is in the area they did that repair. I'm not due for my first post op visit until Thursday, 06/28/12, but I'm seriously thinking of calling them tomorrow to ask about this pain. One of the other girls I work with that had her RNY the end of Feb 2012, told me her incision sites got better, but then they got sore again.

  6. I thought I was different experiencing this. I thought it was just due to my meds being stopped during the period I was in the hospital after my surgery. I ended

up staying a second night due to needing oxygen when I walked and slept. I am 13 days post surgery and have had several days I was very down and broke out in tears, just feeling totally overwhelmed. By what I don't know. I guess it could be the hormonal changes our bodies are also going through also
