LOL me too !!! because I love watermelon, I chewed it like really well but I think that the pulp or what ever is left after you get all the water out is what I think is not going down well

You need to have your doctors office insurance coordinator to get the specifics, they are trained and know all the in and outs of getting approved. Good luck

Telling People About The Surgery
BBdoodle replied to cnocon's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
You don't have to tell everyone .... I told my very close friends in work and they all were very supportive. Of course I told my close family members and BFF's but if someone that does not know I have had surgery and ask/say " you lost weight.. you look good" I say THANKS if they ask how are you doing it I say "diet and exercise". Its no ones business what you have done and its nothing to be ashamed of either, i feel it it just not everyone's business. -
I had watermelon and it did not go down well either

Good luck and please post when you can !!!

I think at some point we ALL revolve our lives around food - what are we going to eat next !! I am sure guilty of that !!! But as someone else said above after surgery you look at food in a totally different light. There are sooooo many other wonderful things to do and see besides thinking of food. You have a great outlook now and sound sooo positive. Good luck on your journey !!!

Wow - what a story. It seems like some people have a easier time than others. I think you should find different doctors, I know you are in a remote location but you really should not be feeling this sick. My surgery was on April 9th so I am a week ahead of you. I have tried different foods and I am learning what I can and can't eat right now. I thought I had stricture at some point because I was getting very sick after eating. Then I realized that I was not chewing my food like a million times. Once I corrected how I chewed my food I never got sick since. I hope you get better and hopefully get a different docotr. Good Luck !!!

Can you ask your doctor for help with this. I was fortunate enough that I did not have to loose any weight before suregery. I only had to eat light the day before surgery. I would ask your doctor for guidance or see a nutritionist.

Woohoo! Finally Moving And Excited
BBdoodle replied to pug.twins's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Awesome job I think at times we become obsessed with the scale, I am sooooo guilty of that !!!!! -
My doctor instructed me to stop drinking 1/2 hour before eating and at least a hour after eating. The theory is that they want the food to stay in your pouch longer so you feel full and satisfied rather than washing is down with lots of liquid. You will not get nutrition if you was everything down too. If you need a small sip to push food along I guess that is OK but I follow my dr. instruction to the letter. I am 10 wks post op and if your dr. says its ok to try different foods then to it. I just follow my dr. instructions because you don't want to damage your incision or anything. Your body will tell you if you have done something wrong - LOL Start out slowly and with wet muchie type of foods. I try one new food a day !

I Feel Trapped... (Psycho Vent, Sorry)
BBdoodle replied to bjroberts417's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
LOL you are not psycho we all have our weird things about food. Mine is a love/hate relationship. After the RNY surgery its totally hate, at times I do get hungery then after I eat I feel like crap unless it is soup but I do try lots of different things. When I was on total liquid right after surgery was when I felt the best. -
What Where U Able To Eat Right Out Of Surgery
BBdoodle replied to cutiepieme's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In the hospital I was given broth, ice pop and water. When I got home I lived on for 2 wks. soup, yogurt, basically all liquids then advanced slowly to other soft mushy stuff. I am 10 wks post op. now and introduce 1 new food a day but I am learning what I can and can not have !!! Your doctor should be providing a schedule and diet for you to follow. Good luck to you and your hubby -
There are very rude people out there.... you just have to ignore them. I enjoyed my last supper too - LOL my BFF in work brought me lunch of fried pickles and my last meal was a awsome cheeseburger. My doctor did not have me on a pre surgery diet, I just had to eat light the day before surgery.

No matter how big or "small" you are or what people "see" you to be, surgery is NOT the easy way out.... surgery is MAJOR.... yes does surgery make you not like food = yes, does surgery help you with your weight loss = yes. Surgery is only a tool just like weight watchers and Jenny Craig it is YOU who makes it work and don't let anyone tell you different. This surgery is not easy by no means... just ask anyone on this site. The way I read the txt from your friend..... is that most people are not aware that weight loss surgery is not only for the people who are 600 lbs it is for anyone with a BMI of I believe 36 (at least that is what my insurance says) with one other medical issue. I too was not aware that mildly overweight people could get this surgery... If I knew that I would have done this years ago - LOL. Your friend is saying you are not that big and too skinny is not good either. Ignore all the negative and think of only positive.... some people are just not sensitive to weight issue as other people.... they just don't know or understand. Good luck with your weight loss

Feeling Like My Weight Is Slow.....what Do You Think?
BBdoodle replied to Erin's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hey Erin.... Don't feel bad I am 10 wks post op (April 9th surgery date) and I have lost only 30 lbs. My BMI was 36 or 37 and I have a total of 80 lbs to loose. From what I am seeing on this site the less weight your have to loose the slower it comes off. I am doing everything my doctor has told me to do and I totally believe you are as well. I think that in some people it comes off slower than other. Please do not get discouraged....my sister had RNY surgery last year and it took her about six months to see a real difference and she had about 110-120 lbs to loose. It seems like her weight loss really speed up at about 4-5 months post op. So hang in there sweetie "we" will get there sooner or later -
Cant they give you a muscle relaxer or something. You should not be allowed to be in that much pain. Your body does not heal if it is in pain. I would call and DEMAND something for the pain.

You will not feel like showering, at least I didn't, but the second I got home I showered. I stayed in the hospital gown the whole time. The only thing I brought to the hospital was my chap stick and cell phone.

I use Isopure which is OK, I have tried others that are totally yuckie !!! I will give this a try. My doctor was very specific on what protein he wanted me on, there are big differences in them from what I understand. The Isopure that I am on is a low carb protein which is 200 calories, I mix it with fat free milk, and 50 grams of protein for 2 scoops. My minimum protein is 64 gr. a day, I try to get 80.
