    Little balls under skin

Yup, I have them and didn't think much about them. I'm making the assumption that they'll eventually go away.
  2. I went through the So Cal Kaiser and they used the weight at the orientation, so it doesn't matter how much weight you lose before the classes. They would be happy if you lose the 10%, but they don't enforce. I didn't lose the 10% and still had the surgery. Best Wishes on your journey.
  3. It will get better. I had gastric bypass on July 22, and for the first two weeks I had no energy for nothing. I'm three weeks out and it's a lot better. Right after surgery, I took naps every day. Now, If I feel really tired, I take a short nap. Just hang in there!

    My new mustache

Yup, it's the Biotin. I think it affects anyone differently. I stopped using it because of this reason. On other weight loss blogs, people have commented about this problem. I don't think I've seen this issue on here, but I could be wrong.

    Driving....?

I would really recommend letting your surgeon know that you need to drive home and how far away it is. I'm pre-op but I'm going to be taking a taxi to the hospital and a taxi home. It's only 10 minutes away.
  6. What is DOK? Could you please explain what that is?

    50's

Hello, I met with my surgeon today and we both agreed that the RNY would be best for me! Now, I just have to wait for the approval for the actual surgery! I'm very happy and I got Dr. Irani. I'm looking forward to moving forward with this

Will be 66 when having surgery

Best of luck to you! There are plenty of people having gastric bypass after 50. You'll do great

2 classes away (10 wks) UGH!

If you're in CA, I would be surprised if you were denied. I finished my classes at the end of January of this year and some people never lost any weight. They weren't denied. So, I would just relax

    The View From My Room

Great thread!! I love this! I'm going to print this out so I can refer to it often. Why? Because I'm going through the same doubts.

    50's

sassy14 - Thank You for the encouragement! I'll try and post as a go along.
  12. Hello Pam, It's good to read that you're doing well. But, you might want to call around and find a bariatric support group near you. They would be able to help even more. You'll hear different ways people are doing with their Vitamins, maybe someone could give you a copy of their Vitamin schedule. Keep up the good work!

    50's

Hello fellow fifties! I'm 57 years young. Finally I'm going for the rny. I tried about two years ago and it didn't work out. So, I walked away. Completely. But, here I am again.....I clearly couldn't lose weight on my own I have diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure. I took the bariatric classes through Kaiser, southern California. I'm just waiting on my approval letter. So maybe I'll have the surgery in the summertime. I so looking forward to not having to take meds for all the conditions listed above. I know I'll have hanging skin, I already have it! But, I want health over no hanging skin. I'm looking forward to following your progress and reading your updates
  14. Hello Everyone, I'm 57 y.o. and finally going for a RNY. I tried two years ago and gave up, but this time, it's now or never. I'm really doing it because I have diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure. I'm a little scared but if other people can do, so can I! I look forward to following your progress.

    March 2015 Surgery!

Hello Starsun 100, If I were in your shoes, I would take a chewable probiotic. That will help replace your intestinal flora. I haven't had surgery yet, but I'm waiting for a referral. I so appreciate everyone's posts. It has been so very helpful.

    Surgeon In California

How were you allowed to go from Sac to Fresno? I live in Bakersfield and I have heard good things about Fresno. I would love to go to Fresno for my WLS.
