  4. Thank you for the advice everyone I am going to try protein drinks to see if that helps. I sent my surgeon an email and he responded "just stay on your healthy eating plan". I guess everyone is different, so if I have to try a few diff things I will!
  5. I'm coming up on 6 months post-op and I feel like I'm failing because I'm always hungry and giving into my feeling of hunger. I try to wait to see if it passes, but it doesn't so I end up eating. I eat protein, but that doesn't help as I'm starving again 20 min. after I eat. Is anyone else going through this or have been through this? What are you doing/did you do? I haven't lost any weight the past month, which I feel shouldn't be happening this soon after surgery.

  9. That's scary. Have you had your blood pressure checked? This is not something to take lightly. I agree. I had high blood pressure during my pregnancy and the same thing happened. Every time I go to my pcp, my bp is normal though.
  10. I was just messaging my surgery family about this! I've been so unstable the past few weeks. I started dating an old friend and I get so butt hurt by certain things he says or DOESN'T say. Things that wouldn't phase me pre-op. And at work, my vision literally goes black with little "stars" when I get stressed or frustrated at a co-worker. I am 3 months post-op and hope this ends soon.
  11. Congrats to all! My surgery is February 16th
  12. It all depends on the insurance you have. Kaiser has a ton of different plans. My plan isn't the best. I have to pay a deductible as well as co-pays and co-insurance. My surgery cost will be $3,000 since that is my out of pocket maximum. You can go to kp.org to get an estimate.
  13. This is discussed in the pre-op class, which is usually scheduled the week before surgery.
  14. I'm in this program. It is such an amazing program! The staff there are knowledgeable, friendly, and they make sure you are prepared. I'm on the same timeline is Deana. I had my first class in October and my surgery is Feb 16th. Some pre-op advice I will give is to ask a lot of questions at the nutrition class! It's a wonderful class with a ton of information. Good luck on your journey.
  15. I live in Sacramento, so I'm waiting on the South Sacramento office. I would travel to Richmond if they made that an option. Thank you
  16. Congrats hlzg1224! I'm going on week 4 since my seminar and referral. Unfortunately I think S. Sac has me last in their "triage" queue. I call every few days, per their request, and I'm still not up on the list for the orientation. I've been feeling so de-motivated by this.
  17. pd2talk, how long did it take to receive a call to schedule the orientation?
  18. I have Kaiser Nor Cal and my company doesn't offer Bariatric Surgery in our plans. I called Kaiser and asked if I could still qualify if my plan specified it didn't cover the surgery and they told me that as long as we qualify (40 BMI or higher, 35 or higher with co-morb.) then they would cover the surgery. So even if the plan states it doesn't cover the surgery, they still do if you qualify. It's really confusing. Call Member Services
  19. Congrats and good luck Rena!! I am waiting for a call to schedule the 4-hr orientation. My Primary sent the referral two days ago. Time is going by so slow!!!!
