  1. Hi Christi question for ya did you have any problem consuming the protein' date=' are there days that you did not really do what ur surgeon said, or could not get the Water in. You look great, and basically did you have any set backs.

    [/quote']

I had trouble in the beginning getting everything in. I was pretty good by about 1 month out. Now I have trouble sticking to my routine. If I stick to my routine all goes well. When life happens I just go with it and try to get back in track as soon as I can. I am still doing the same Protein as I did when I came home from the hospital. I try not to mix things up a lot. When I do, sometimes it doesn't work and sometimes I dump...so I just stick to what works for me.

  2. For anyone that is looking into having RNY surgery...look at what it has done for me...

In April of this year I weighed in at 309lbs. I was devistated. I was wearing 24/26 clothes that were tight! Well in just 7 short months this is where I am now 188lbs and wearing a size 12. I have about 23 more pounds to go until I get to my goal of 165 (I am 5'9 so that is a BMI 25) and for Thanksgiving this year...I am jogging/walking in my FIRST 5k. I am so excited I can't hardly wait. I AM SO THANKFUL FOR MY RNY. It has changed my life FOREVER and I am so happy with the results that I have had. Here is some before and now photos. post-16692-13813810718893_thumb.jpg post-16692-13813810719785_thumb.jpg

  3. I think it's a 32oz. Can. It was good. I have been wearing it for a couple of days :( it makes a lot. I buy the broccoli florets (frozen) and boil them until soft. I cannot eat ANYTHING microwaved. Too dry for me.

  4. Here is one that I am going to try tomorrow....

Cabbage and Smoked Sausage (turkey sausage) Soup

    1 Head of Cabbage chopped

1 Bag of frozen broccoli florets

2 pkgs. of Turkey Smoked Sausage

1 Large can of chicken broth

Mix all ingredients in pan simmer until warm and then enjoy.

  5. Just some advice from me, I was losing my hair really bad too. I still am and I am 6 months out. Use Biotin. I take the pills I swallow and also the ones that disolve under the tongue. I also use the Garnier Fall Fight Shampoo conditioner and also the spray. The most important part of it though is the Protein. My doctor says to make sure to get 75+ grams of protein per day, I am staying close to 100grams. If you are doing all of this, then the Hair loss should be minimal. There will be some, but not to the point of balding. Good luck with all of this. It is so sad to see your hair coming out. I cried. If you do all of the above you should be fine. It should slow down at about a year out. There are a lot of hormonal things going on right now. Once your body starts normalizing all this will go away. Hope this helps :)

  6. You might try to include her. Maybe she feels left out, like your starting a new life that doesn't include her. Just a thought. It's really hard after WLS. My husband was getting jealous of me too. We talked through it. Its hard. He told me the other day "you can't keep your Ferrari in the garage". I took it as a compliment. Lol

  7. Wow! Congratulations! That is so fast and fantastic! I have a question for you. Did you lose weight quickly right after surgery? I have a similar amount to lose so I am curious about your journey. I am 2 weeks out and down only 12 pounds which seems so slow to me. Thanks for any feedback you have.

I think I lost 30 pounds within a month or so. It is going really slow for me right now though. Hopefully it picks back up.

  8. Thank you to everyone. I feel like I am walking on cloud 9 today. It is amazing. I cannot believe that I have gotten this far. I have NEVER been successful losing weight. I have about 43 pounds to go to get to my goal of 165. I am almost 5'9" so that will put my BMI just below 25. I hope I can make it. This group has been a huge part of my success and I want to thank you all for being there WITH me and FOR me every step of the way. It means a lot.

  9. Christi, THAT is wonderful.

My surgery is Wednesday (19th) and I have been wondering what someone who is done healing and well on their way down eats. Would you mind posting a typical day in the life.......emphasis on what and when you eat.

    really would appreciate it.

    Maggie

    Wow..a typical day...here we go.

I try to eat something within the first hour I get up, so that is about 6am.

Most of my Vitamins (except calcium)

    7:30am 1 scrambled egg

    pico de gallo

    chredded cheese

    9:30am Premier Protein Bar (1/2)

    apple slices

12 (noon) salad with tomatoes and fresh mozerella and olive garden dressing (about 1 cup total)

    2:30pm Premier Protein bar (1/2)

sauted zucchini and squash (or green beans)

    7:30pm premier Protein Shake

I emphasize getting in 100+ grams of Protein a day.

Also I walk 1-2 miles a day and work out on my bowflex 3 times a week (30 minutes each)

  10. I was going to call my surgeon on Tuesday for the same thing. I am a little over 4 months out and mine are horrible. I cramp like crazy. I retain so much Water weight. My flow is so heavy I sometimes have to wear tampons and pads and sometimes still leak. I am so over this. Sorry I am sure this is TMI but maybe someone is having the same issues. I hate this. I have had 3 babies and I am fixed....I am ready for my period to go away.
