    Got my date... now questions

Place things where you can easily reach them, wear shoes that you can slide on as bending is a little painful for the first few days. Good Luck!
  7. Place things where you can easliy reach them, wear shoes that you can slide on. I was too sore to bend or reach for about 5 days so anything that fell on the floor stayed there untill I could have someone to pick them up for me. I live alone also but had someone stay with me for a week, I couldn't have done it alone. Good luck - keep in touch!

    hi all!

Hi Anne3, Welcome! My procedure was with minimal pain, I was sore at the port site for about 5 days but the pain was relieved with tylenol. I was discharged from the hospital with pain medication that I took for the first 3 days then switched to the tylenol. I am already back at work. Good luck on your journey - keep in touch! Debbie

    Fills in Philadelphia?

I am going to Dr. Williams at the University of Penn Hospital in Philly for my first fill.
  10. Hi Kara, I was banded October 22 and I too had port pain. Sounds like yours was much worse then mine, anyway the nurse told me a heating pad would help - it did! Give it a try. Debbie
  11. Good luck to both of you - I wish you a speedy recovery. It is true - it only gets better. I'm 11 days out and almost feeling like myself. The heating pad really did help me. Debbie

    I'm done...I made it

Congratulations! The pain will slowly subside and you will begin to feel better each day. I am 11 day's out and almost feel back to normal - in fact I'm returning to work on Monday.
  13. Dr. Noel Williams - University of Penn Hospital, I highly recommend him and his team. Good Luck on your journey! Debbie
  14. I live in Yardley PA and checked on the Bariatrix Center in Langhorne - at the time only 1 surgeon was performing lapband, when I checked to see how many were performed he had only done 2. Not nearly enough for me to feel safe.
  15. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania University of Penn Hospital Dr. Noel Williams His team is second to none!

Once you get home you may be sore - at my first post op visit the nurse told me to use a heating pad to relieve the pain. It really does help. Debbie

    Being Banded Tomorrow!

Hey Nessa, Good luck tomorrow! Some of the things I found helpful was to wear slide on shoes (I couldn't bend for about 6 days) and a small pillow to put close to you while wearing your seat belt. A heating pad was also helpful. Let me now how you make out!

    Humiliation

You shouldn't let ignorant people like that (and there are loads of them) upset you - just keep motivated and take care of yourself. You have made a choice to change by choosing the this tool that will allow you to flaunt your success the next time you see her! Good luck with your surgery!

    Being banded tomorrow (31st Oct)

Good luck, you will do just fine. I had the same feelings but the day after surgery I knew I could do this and you can too!
  20. Hi crikit, Try eating the cottage cheese with blenderized fruit, peaches, pineapple etc. I look forward to having some myself!

    Just banded

I was banded on 10/22/07 and am doing good on the liquids and I' not hungry at all but I really miss chewing. I don't chew gum so I'll have to wait until the soft food stage.
  22. Hi Mollybrown, I can't stand the taste of the protien either. I went to my local GNC and purchased Isopure in 6 different flavors. I haven't tried it yet but the sales person said it wasn't bad but is better if kept really cold. Good luck with your pre-op diet! sense of smell off

I was just in for my last visit before banding on Monday - during the nutrition class we were told to expect the sense of taste and smell to be hightened. Sweets will be sweeter and smells will be stronger. I didn't ask why the surgery causes this issue.
  25. Hi All, I too will be banded on October 30, 2007 at the University of Penn Hospital by Dr. Noel Williams. I am both scared and excited, I look forward to a new healthier me! I am will be 51 in November but don't think it will be an issue. I welcome your support as I begin my journey!
