  1. I had gastric bypass surgery on March 30, 2012. I'm now 5 weeks post op and down 23 pounds. Things have been going ok. The second week post op I was almost rehospitalized due to dehydration and low blood pressure; thankfully I was not. Since then I'm still struggling to get in all my fluids. Eating has been going ok- but like most of you when I eat, I either am eating to fast or not chewing enough and it gets stuck in my stomach and causes a great deal of discomfort/pain. I still am extremely exhausted 99.9% of the time and I'm not sure why or how to get rid of the feeling of being tried all the time. People ask me if I feel good and I truthfully don't know how to answer. Normally, prior to surgery if I lost 23 lbs of course I would feel awesome. After this surgery I feel so lethargic I don't feel good- all I want to do is sleep. Yes my clothes fit better, but in all honesty I would give anything to get my energy back! Anyone else have this same feeling?
  2. So this morning I had another severe dizzy spell where I almost passed out. I got the cold sweats and could barely walk. It was very scary. I experienced these before the week after my surgery but the dr said it was due to the BP meds they put me on after surgery...my BP was very low then. Once they took me off those I havent had an issue since this morning. Any one else go through these? I'm hoping (for my sake) someone says yes! I'm praying it's not related to dehydration which I'm sure I could be that!

    Recovery Time

I had my surgery March 30th & went back to work April 25th. At least with my job I wish I had listened to my doctor and took the full 6-8 weeks off! I'm not quite as tired as what I was but I still come home dragging everyday! Mostly due to mental & physical stress of my job but it also plays a huge role in the healing of your body!

    Feeling Like A Failure!

I have a thyroid issue as well- if it is that they will just put you on meds and you'll start seeing a difference! Don't lose sight Of your goal and give up! You are still doing great and have done great! You are an inspirationto us all good luck and let us know what the dr tells you!

    Help!

It's funny because I've actually tried eating and drinking at the same time just to see if I could & it hurts me to do it..thankfully I won't have to worry about breaking that habit my body did it for me!

    Friday Weigh-In!

I had the same experience you are going through. I lost 18 lbs within the first 2 weeks of surgery but then plateau for about a week or two- then dropped again. I think this is quite common. I'm experiencing it again at -35lbs, I've have budged in about a week.
  9. I'm 8weeks post op and I have to say the #1 hardest thing for me about this whole surgery & new life if getting enough liquids! I actually think I've been having dizzy spells because I'm dehydrated! I'm afraid to call the dr because I do not want to be admitted into the hospital! I'm just at a point where I'm getting really depressed over it as I know this will be a constant battle!!

This Is Almost A Deal Breaker!

I never had a catheter so I'm no help sorry! For some reason they didn't use one when I had the surgery!

    Confused & Worried

Vamp- what do you consider "slider" foods? I hear everyone talk about them but no clue what they are!

    Medicine

I'm just 8 weeks out as of today- I've never crushed mine - the first 4 weeks I used chewable vitamins but ran out so since I've been taking these HUGE multivitamin pills!!

    New Tastes

It's frustrating because I just don't know what to cook anymore :/ I end up throwing it away if I don't like it. The thought of even having it in my house makes my stomach queasy. It such a waste of money!
  20. I'm not sure really- I ordered a salad and kids meal & asked them to bring a box out with my meal. They did without arguing so I wasn't going to explain! Lol. I would have if needed!

    Emotions

I'm feeling very emotional lately. I've heard that people who have gone through the gastric bypass surgery can be an emotional mess. I'm 7 weeks post-op and haven't had any issues emotionally until recent. I'm just wondering if anyone else had experienced mood changes?
