Jen in SoCal replied to dunnfab5's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Probably just broths and liquids for the first couple of weeks. Didn't they give you any instructions? -
Emergency Room Visit
Jen in SoCal replied to SilviaC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a problem with dehydration and the ER doc suggested Gatorade G2 or power aid zero. Make sure you get the Gatorade low calorie. It has about 30 cals per 8oz serving. They both have pottasium which seems to be so hard to get. It's less expensive than pedialite and tastes good. I went to buy pedialite but it didn't list grams of sugar on the label. I'm no chemist so I skipped it. -
I Need Some Help Please Sx 8/13
Jen in SoCal replied to Nita1019's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's normal. Make sure you are getting enough fluids. Dehydration is nothing to mess around with. Above all else, sip, sip, sip. Getting up and just shuffling around the house will help too. Don't overdo it. You just had major surgery. -
Awesome! Happy for you :-)

Love your smile! Good luck!!!!

Emergency Room :(
Jen in SoCal replied to jessamarie24's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got food poisoning (or so they figured) and ended up in the same boat as you. I was super dehydrated after an entire week of diarrhea! I spent the day in the ER but was not admitted. My arms were so bruised up it looked like I was in a car accident! People were shocked when they saw them. I hope they figure out what's going on and you feel better soon! -
Good luck! You're going to do great!

I Feel Good But I Barely Eat
Jen in SoCal replied to TinyMamiOf3kids's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can you keep down protein shakes? You need some nutrition ASAP Vomiting is totally not the norm. You need to get to the surgeon and get to the bottom of this problem you're having. Worried about you :-( -

You'll be fine, the non- rev gods will take care of you mom! Freak out mode is totally normal :-) -
I after months of hemming and hawing I finally joined a gym. The problem is, I'm terrified to go in that place! The last time I was in a health club everyone wore leotards and legwarmers! (think Flashdance)!!!! I actually drove out there yesterday and got as far as the parking lot and drive home. I totally chickened out! I wish I had someone to go with me! If any one lives in the SoCal area and goes to 24 Hour Fitness and you wouldn't mind going with a middle aged out of shape woman, let me know! I was thinking. Since its open 24 hours I could go kind of late and just walk on the treadmill or elliptical or something and check the place out. Any advice would be really appreciated!

Wow, you look great. Happy to hear you're feeling great too! -
For the first couple of months I was ALWAYS cold. I was freezing at night and slept with two blankets. I don't seem to have that problem anymore though. Of course it's hot as heck here lately...

Ps. It wouldn't hurt to call your doctor and ask them about it. That's what they're there for.

I had the same pain about two weeks postop and the surgeons PA explained there was probably a large suture there that was attached to my muscle and as it was healing it was pulling on the muscle. To me it was like a tearing pain below my belly button. It was excruciating but ice helped a lot. It went away as the sutures dissolved.

Hope all went well!

If you're on your preop diet the headaches are a sign you've thrown your body into ketosis. That's exactly what you want. It's a totally normal side effect. They will go away in a day or two. Tylenol should be ok, check with your doc. Caffeine withdraw wont help the situation much either. You'll get through it. It's tough but you can do it! Good luck!

Anyone Try This!?
Jen in SoCal replied to Tammy483's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did try the regular shirataki noodles. Not the ones with tofu. You are so correct. Rinse the heck out of them. I rinsed, boiled, rinsed again and sautéed them with some soy sauce, ginger and garlic. They were pretty good! The remind me of cellophane noodles. zero calories and zero carbs! Awesome! -
