The nightmare stories are what made me move very slow during returning to food. Just stay focused on not damaging your new tummy and you will do fine. The only thing that I have discovered that does not agree with me is a pork shop. It sits really heavy in my tummy. I tried them twice with the same result so I will simply not have them any more. For every nightmare tale there are prolly 20 successes! Good luck with your journey.

My doc was very conservative about returning to solid foods. I followed his orders strictly and have not had any problems returning to raw veggies or nuts. You will have to learn to eat very slow and chew chew chew till whatever you are having is like applesauce. Things will be fine as long as you follow the docs instructions. Good luck!

Other than the chicken where is your Protein? You should try and watch your calories. If you don't as time goes by you risk consuming more calories than you should. My nutritionist set me at a calorie range to aimi for and I have had to learn how to develope my diet to focus on protein intake and low calorie eating. Remember the surgery is a tool to help you learn a healthy lifestyle. Good luck on your journey.

I use a lot of different brands and have to say that the brand by Jillian is not one of my faves. I never mix my drinks with milk. Actually since surgery I simply do not care for it and just rely on supplements and other foods for Calcium. Anything by Isopure or Nector is good. I keep unflavored Isopure on hand at all times. Between those two brands you have quite a few flavor choices. I also recommend Injury protein, it mixes really well. But you can only find it online. I usually have two or three diff Proteins on hand simply for variety. Unfortunately it is all on the pricey side and sometime you won't like it. But if you experiment by mixing it with things you do like you might stumble upon something you really like. Example, I hate vanilla but when I mix it with cold coffee and add a packet of Truvia and a bit of cocoa powder and some ice I end up with a slushy coffee drink that is quite refreshing when I come in from work. And it is a much better choice than the coffee drink from McDonals that I used to grab on the way home from work. if you have a Vitamin Shoppe in your area they have a large selection of whey isolate proteins. Just ask for it when you go in and they will direct you to the section. GNC has some, but I find that they have a small choice of favors. I wish you much success! -

You need to try and force the supplements and protein. Your body will revolt without proper nutrients! A trick I use is to mix a scoop of Protein powder with plain Greek yogurt or mix in a pkg of Crystal Light into it and would take small little bites. It might take you an hour or more to finish it but you can sit it in the freezer between bites an stir it good when you are ready for another bite. I repeat, your body must have nutrition! -
You should check in with your doctor. You should be able to keep something down.

Thank you Panda. I just want all of us to have every bit of success we can grab!

As Panda said, "with all due respect" I have to give you some tough love! You are just having some post op blues! 14 lbs in two weeks is wonderful! The reality is how much would you have lost in two weeks without the surgery? 2 or 4 lbs? Or would you have even dieted in the first place? Ok, now for encouragement. You commented that you can't eat much. None of us can...drink your Protein in addition to what you can eat. Drink your Water as well. Exercise. You have to remember the surgery is a TOOL to help YOU LEARN to live a healthy life. It is not a magic cure for what we have done to ourselves over our lifetime. Will you have good and bad days? Of course, I sure do. But when I have a hard time, doing some cardio helps me move past it. I am eight months out and have lost 84 lbs,, I might go two weeks not loosing a thing. But I keep my schedules for nutrition and exercise because I know that even if my body has settled at this weight that I am healthier than before and am thankful for this second chance to live a healthy life! keep your head up and know you are on track for a healthier longer life!

Weight Gain At 2 Weeks Post-Op
RaleighNC replied to YoungNY's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Use water with your protein instead of milk. Cut calories where you can and cardio exercise daily. -
No problem Panda. I have learned much about myself since surgery and have no problem sharing.

Hang tough! Have you weighed? Seeing a few ponds less will help make you stronger. Carb and sugar withdrawal is so hard. Having a Protein drink when the crave hits will help to quiet the urge. There are so many ways to prepare it that you can turn them into a Here are a couple of things I have done to get me through. I always use a blender. Cold coffee with two scoops vanilla protein with 5 ice cubes. Sometimes I use chocolate protein. Crystal Light mix of whatever flavor I am in the mood for, 2 scoops unflavored protein, and ice cubes.
-
There are so many options out there. Some mix better than others. I hate anything vanilla. Unjary is a great brand but is only available via the web. It mixes wonderfully and they even have a chicken Soup version that is very food. I like to use unflavored by Isopure so I can mix it with any liquid I want. I usually use a Crystal Light drink packet and mix in a double scoop of Protein and about four ice cubes in the blender. That way I can have whatever flavor I am in the mood for. Good luck with everything. I am eight months out, 84 lbs down and and crazy happy!

Hey Greenville! JemJem, I am told we need to injest 70 to 90 grams of Protein daily. There is no way I could possibly eat that much, my pouch would be stretched so far our it would be like I didn't even have the surgery. I drink two shakes a day minimum. I double scoop them so with just those two drinks I am getting 100 gms protein in addition to the protein I am eating. On my six month blood work my protein levels wew right in the mid range of normal so my doc is happy with the way I am following the nutrition plan. All I know for sure was when I increased protein and take my supplements as ordered my hair loss quickly stopped and has grown back in. As Greenville sai...bald and skinny wasn't a look I wanted either lol Good luck with your journey. I have learned a lot about myself over the past eight months and am happy to share or encourage any time.

I need a buddy too. I am only eight mints out and have only lost one pound in four weeks. I do cardio at least twice a week. But I do have trouble keeping to food rules. The carb monster has began creeping back in my life. I am only 45 lbs from goal and am struggling to stay strong. Scanning this thread I am going to check the MyFitnessPal app. I'll be your buddy for sure!
