  1. I'm so sad to read that this problem is happening to quite a few people. Luckily enuf for me I only had the feeling in my throat occasionally and it passed quite quickly and I could eat normally straight after that was in the early days but it hasn't happened for a long time! I'm 4 and a half months out. I think mine was down to needing some time to heal.mi hope everyone recovers soon,x

  2. I experience dry mouth a lot too and I don't get the 64 oz a day either. My doc said between 48-64...but I don't get 48 either. Water is gross to me now and pre surgery I use to love it. Maybe using the Crystal lite packets will help you be able to drink more...the palmegranite kind is quite good as well as the peach and rasberry tea

Yer I hate plain Water. I have to have something to flavour it slightly x

  3. One weird outcome has been that over the 3 days of post op I actually gained 2 Ibs' date=' probably due to the glucose drip and other liquids one takes on board post op. But this morning (day 4) I lost 2 Ibs, so the ball is rolling ;-)[/quote']

I gained about 6/7lbs when I was in hospital lol but it everything they pump you with, I lost it couple days after being home and more right away :-)

  4. Thanks Vamp. I didn't get any nausea at all' date=' I suppose that people vary. They gave me a couple of anti nausea doses into the IV in the first 24 hours but no Patches or anything. On the meds front took away From hospital: the anti-coagulent Clexane (think that Heparin) injection syringes for 1 week, long term supply of chewable antiacids called zoton fastabs (lansoprazole) and some soluble paracetamol (which I haven't needed as no longer any pain).[/quote']

Congrats!! I was the same after the op couldn't lie flat but within the week I was lying on my side n not long after on my tummy hehe xx I had shoulder/neck pain 2 days after realeased from hospital it was horrible. I left the op with antacids which I took for 4 weeks and some adult calpol, which I only took once for he gas shoulder pain! I never had any injections to bring away or Patches tho. Good luck with ur new life :-)

  5. I experienced the same at about the same time. Double your Protein intake. You should always double scoop your drinks anyway' date=' remember we no longer absorb nutrients as before so we have to injest higher levels of the things we need. Also I take 1mg of Biotein three times a day. It took about a month but my hair is getting fuller and the shedding has slowed to a near normal rate. I am nearly seven months out and 84 lbs down...it's worth it![/quote']

    Are u from the uk?

I don't take a Protein Drink, I've never been advised to by my surgeon?

  6. When I decided I wanted a bypass I went to see my gp who referred me to see the bariactric surgeon, I had my appointment with him, he asked me a few questions, (I was in his room about 10mins if that) I had blood test and swabs before I left. I emailed him that night to say I wanted to go ahead with procedure and he emailed me back with possible dates. So from when I saw my gp to the actual date I had the surgery (26th jan 2012) it was less than 2 months. I had no diet to follow before hand to lose weight the only thing I had was a 2 week liver reduction diet right before my surgery :-) xx

  7. Hi yodelania, I was told to do purée for 4 weeks and then introduce soft foods between week 4 and 6. I was so glad when my 4 weeks were up, I hated the purée stage. It used to fill me up but everything tasted disgusting blended, some days I really did not want it at all as the taste wud make me gag, but iforced my self to eat it. As soon as I started on soft foods at week 4 ie cottage pie/ shepards pie, jacket potato etc things were Great ;-) x

  8. I'm 2 and a half month post op, and I'm really worried about Hair loss I've heard it normally happens at 3 months! Has any one experienced it?? And does anyone know of any thing you can take to make it slow down (I know it can't be stopped if you get it) but dont know if there is something to help it. Currently I am taking forceval, calichew, evening primrose oil and cod liver oil with A-Z Vitamins on a daily basis! :-) x
