    Pregnancy After Gastric Bypass

Miss_heather, Have you done the five day pouch test before? I have tried to do it numerous times but was never able to get past day one or two. I did manage this summer to do two weeks of shakes only. Of course, my husband was deployed and it was just me and the kids do it was a little easier for me to avoid temptation. I managed to lose about 5 lbs in that two weeks, but half of it came back when I started eating again. Carbs and sugar are my weaknesses too. I found that if I cut carbs to one meal only that I am able to lose. It's just hard to stay focused. My will power isn't the best. I am curious how the pouch test goes for you.

    Pregnancy After Gastric Bypass

Every surgeons program and requirements are different from what I have gathered from reading on different message boards. It just do happens that my surgeons program required classes that I zipped through quickly and I didn't have any problems with my insurance company approving me either. I was approved within 48 hours of the paperwork going in. I had a co morbidity of high blood pressure along with the weight requirement. I hope your program is able to go as quickly. My surgeon said I went through the process quicker than she has seen. I was motivated to get the ball rolling. Hope you have a successful process and everything works out great for you. By the way, having children far apart is not a bad thing. My two oldest are 17.5 months apart so I had two in diapers at once. Not too much fun. There is 8 years between my oldest and the baby. So I have a boy that's almost 10, daughter that's almost 8.5 and baby girl that is almost 19 months. The baby gets her alone quiet time with me while the other two are at school. It is rather nice.

    Pregnancy After Gastric Bypass

I am giving a complete breakdown but everyone's results are different. I was 260 in jan 2008 when I went for orientation. I had to lose 12-15 before the surgery. I had surgery in may 2008 and I got to my lowest weight of 155 by feb 2009. I put 15 lbs back on before I found out I was pregnant in jan 2010. I have been stuck at 185ish since my baby was about month or so old. My initial goal was 135 and that remains my ultimate goal. I went from a size 22w to a size 10 at my lowest. I know I can get back there. It will just take a lot more attention and effort than I have obviously been giving it. Hope this helps, but like I said everyone is different.

    Pregnancy After Gastric Bypass

I can't say if it was easier or not to get pregnant. I got pregnant easily each of the three times no matter what my weight was. I didn't set out to have another baby after my surgery. She was a surprise. All I can say is I didn't have any blood pressure issues after my rny. I was off blood pressure meds within days of my surgery. I can say the pregnancy was easier on my body being a lighter weight and I got to enjoy looking pregnant. With the first two I was big already so I didn't get to enjoy cute maternity clothes. I have been to a nutritionist since its been 18 months since my baby girl was born. They are going to test my resting metabolic rate when I go back but haven't said anything about checking the size of my pouch. I have been trying to stay around 1200 calories a day, but it's been a struggle.

    Pregnancy After Gastric Bypass

Hi there. I had two children while being 240+ lbs years prior to surgery which resulted in blood pressure issues and my first child being born 6 weeks premature. The pregnancy after my surgery was at 18 months out. It was a very normal pregnancy. I had extra ultrasounds and tests due to my age (36) and prior premature birth. I gained about 40 lbs total but my ob was happy with that. She wanted me to get as much nutrition as I could so I broke the rules. Wish I hadnt though. I didn't have c section with any of my three births and my ob said there was no need since my bypass was laprascopic. I have a friend who has had rny as well but had it open and has had three c sections. Two prior to rny and one after. She is pregnant with her second baby after rny and she is doing great. She didn't gain much weight with any of her pregnancies though. I gained about 40 lbs with each one. Hope that helps answer your question. Sorry for the long reply.

    Pregnancy After Gastric Bypass

Hi. I am new here but I know what you are going through. I had my rny in May 2008 and lost 105 lbs. I got pregnant in jan 2010 and gained a total of 50 lbs. I lost 20 of it almost immediately after she was born, but have been stuck with 30 extra lbs ever since. My daughter is now 18 months old and I have been trying to get back down to my lowest weight. My main problem is that I do not dump at all. I can eat anything and it doesn't bother me. My brain knows what to do, but it is a constant struggle. I have been trying to eat 1200 calories a day and working out each day to burn 500 calories. I am really having a tough time with head hunger and snacking. Hoping to find support on here to help me get back on track.
