  1. Omg you look awesome! I know u are working so hard at it, so keep up the great work!!! You go girl!
  2. I am 3 months and I've lost 55 pounds
  3. Krista, omg I got so angry reading your post. I can't believe your boyfriend would do that. I just figure if you are dating then you probably want it to go somewhere and if u do then you want to be supportive and caring to your significant other. I feel so bad u have to deal with that. Of course I don't know the whole story but when I read what you wrote I wanted to kick slam your man. Lol!!!! Hope you do well with surgery. To the lady that is drinking only one shake a day, I am not your mother but I feel like lecturing anyways. Get your Protein in!!! They have these protein shot bullet type things at sam's club, they are 23g a shot. Please please please go get yourself some and take two a day, it's at least something. Your body will not heal if your body doesn't have protein. You will be sick and lose hair if you continue this after surgery. To the gentlemen who suggested atkins shakes, I agree they are yum!! And finally to all those starting or just started their liquid diet, you can do this. This is the final step to get your surgery. You have already decided at this point that this is the new lifestyle you want to live and so you have to push yourself for two weeks to drink (my doctor suggested 5 shakes, or 65 grams of protein) your shakes. The hunger, sleepiness and headaches only last the first three days and then u will find yourself ok with it. The point is to shrink your liver, if u don't shrink it enough they have to work harder and it will take longer to recover. Don't let that happen to you. I personally lost 20 pounds on preop diet, don't u want the head start? Please don't cheat, you can do this!!! Ok I'm done ranting. Hope everyone is well. Jessica.

    Newbie

Hey Melissa, Welcome!!! I am 3 months post op. I finally after a bit of ups and downs, I'm kinda in a comfy zone. Although I'm thinking I may be losing hair now. But I guess that's part of it. I hope I can offer u some support or advice during your process. I too did it to help my diabetes, and I've made a little progress. Well good luck!!! I
  5. I started more solid food about week 6ish, but kept reverting back to mushy foods because it was easier or that's all I had in house. I tried ribs at 8 weeks, that went well. I also was able to do salad at that point too. Lunch meat was a savor at this stage. I would do one slice of ham and one of turkey and half a slice of cheese on each with a little light miricle whip and roll them up and that would be lunch. I still enjoy that now at 3 months out.
  6. I was so just like you around eight weeks. I did well with low sugar oatmeal, and low fat yogurt. I absolutely could not do chicken, tried everyway possible. I still did a lot of protein shakes at this point. Oh ya eggs were my best friend, hard boiled. Key is chew chew chew!! It's hard but if not u end up so sick. Also what I found helped was to take the first bite and then sit for like 2 minutes, it almost "woke" up my tummy. Hope this helps, but really it's all trial and error. Good luck.
  7. I've never heard of anything like this. I don't think they really look to deep into detail. Maybe just that you were on a supervised diet for say 5 months like mine required. I don't think u have anything to worry about. You are still in the qualification criteria. Now if u lost weight and it put U under the requirements then is worry. Good luck with everything.

    I Made It!

I also had a small one, but my doctor didn't fix it. Said it would fine. I think he didn't do it because he could only charge half for that if he did do it at the same time. Just kidding. I think they don't bother if it's not big. I didn't know I had one either.
  9. I so thought I would cheat but I wanted to do good and so I pushed myself. I didn't cheat once during my preop diet. I used and still use the EAS car advantage ready made shakes, vanilla or chocolate are good. I picked them up first at Walmart but then I found they have a bulk case at sam's club and it works out to be $1.25 a shake. Not bad. Try a different shake if u don't like the one the doctor gave u. My doctor gave us a list of like 50 u can use and a list of 10 to stay away from. You can finish this journey without cheating, I know if I can then u can. Goodluck with the rest of the week and your surgery!!!
  10. Thank u so much for your support.
  11. Thank u so much for your positive words. I have lost my mother yesterday to cancer and so your kind positive words are a change of pace. It's hard to continue being healthy when all I want to do is chow down on junk food. But I know my life will continue after this and I can't let myself down now.
  12. Pro-op Surgery About 1 week shy of three months. Starting weight 205 Surgery weight 200 Current weight 156 Goal weight 135 Total weight loss 49
  13. So I'm having trouble with emotional eating already. I had my RNY on 1/9/12. So I'm almost 3 months out and I had a few complications. Nothing really has been normal since my surgery, but my most recent big stress is that my mom was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer only about a month ago, but they don't think she is gonna make it another two weeks. I'm an emotional basket case and all I want to do is eat. I know I can't but I do seem to be snacking on ok food for me but like all the time. I'll eat yogurt then 10 min later reach for a sugar free pudding. I just keep grazing on everything. Help!!! Didn't expect to have to deal with anything this stressful so early on, but I can't keep this bad habit going. Any ideas? Thanks Jessica

    5 Days And Counting

Chapstick!!! U will be so dry and won't be able to drink anything. My lips hurt so bad I finally needed to ask nurse for something. Then just basics, pj's, socks, toothbrush. Oh ya they will have u walking halls so slippers or flip flops. Mine was earlier in morning too, good thing because if it was later, my anxiety would of gotten the best of me. Well again good luck!

    Hi Everyone ;)

Yes congrats to u both! You will be over the liquid phase soon enough, hang in there! It's important that u don't rush the process, u are healing inside still. I wanted to stay on liquids, because one I was nervous about getting sick and two it meant I had to cook, boo! Lol!! Good luck making it through, stay strong.

Congrats on your surgery and welcome. Have you tried beef broth? I got the Swanson ones it's in a box with a pour spout, you can measure out what you want and it stays good for a week. Decaf coffe, was a blessing for me. Also sugar free Popsicles were my best friend. Your liquid phase will be over before u know it. Hang in there. Good luck!

    Hello!

I did the same thing as you did, but after two weeks of that I settled down. You find other things to replace the things u used to love and now can't have. I love the dessert flavored fat free yogurts they are awesome and hit that sweet tooth. You really don't feel deprived. So endulge, and then move on. Good luck with your surgery and welcome to the group!!

    Hi!

Welcome! Congrats on your surgery. 10 days post-op, wait like two more weeks and u will see the inches disappear. You are still bloated from all the air they pumped in your belly. I wish you luck on your journey. So water especially now does goes in and them comes right back out. I absolutely have to mix it with crystal light. I also got one of those blender bottles and it's 20 oz, so I know that if I drink 3 of those and a little of something else, (like I love decaf coffee) then I will get my 64 oz in a day. Well welcome and good luck!!!

    Pre Op Help

Well what I would do is see a different psychologist. If you don't like the first answer get a second opinion. You can for everything else these days. Lol. Just make sure that you know deep down that you are dedicated to the process. It's hard! Not one second is easy at first and you have to have discipline, be focused, an determined to get it right. Know this will be one of the hardest things, yet rewarding things u will go through in your life, and if u can except this then u are ready! I wish u luck. Please keep us updated!
