Post Gastric Bypass Surgery Diet
You're right when it cames to stuff being stuck with the band. Oh Lordy that was awful, I'd walk, pace and sometimes it felt as if it were there for days. Throwing up was an issue because you knew your band could slip and sure enough it did. I wasn't sure if there was pain like the band when food got stuck with bypass. Thank you for the info. My doc did say some do and don't have dumping happen. Can't say it sounds pleasant - even the word is terrible! But...I'd still prefer that and learning from it than have a band prolasps again. thanks again!

Switching from band to RNY Gastric Bypass (Pre-Op)
Welcome KayleighsMommy. Sounds like we all had a rough go with our bands. My prolasps really badly twice with the final time it being so bad fluids wouldn't move at all. I'm glad we're all here on the journey together and I look forward to getting to know you all.

Post Gastric Bypass Surgery Diet
I'm in the starting stages of getting the RNY surgery. After speaking with the nutritionist I wonder how the heck do you get all your Protein in when you're dependant on Protein shakes? I guess I'm scared...in how does one get it all in when you can't take more than a bit or two of something? I can deal with liquids for the stages before and after surgery but....I'm kinda scared of the more solid foods. After hearing about food getting stuck...dumping...zoiks! Have you had food get stuck? What was it like? How long does it take for whatever solid food you get in there to digest? Oh so many questions! More research for me to do

Let's Help Each Other On Those Bad Days
Not going to beat you up but, did the sugar throw you off? You weren't afraid to have the dumping thing happen? If that's the amount you truly had then you did good stopping yourself so think positive. The next step is stopping it before it starts.... How about this...the next time you have a craving like that and want to give in...ask yourself...Am I physically hungry or is it my head? If it's your head then try to figure out what it is.....take in some more Water and think about it before you buy it. Now if you are truly hungry....and crave chocolate, how about making a bar out of your chocolate shake mix? I can bet we can come up with some recipes where you can do that I know folks used to do it all the time on medifast with the powdered stuff and I've tried a few and they were good. This way you won't be taking in the fat and sugar of regular chocolate? Believe me, I'm no angel...hence why I'm opting for the surgery in the first place. I didn't get here eating salads. I KNOW a craving and how powerful they can be. But with a buddy.....it sure helps to get you thinking better So.....were you truly physically hungry or mind hungry?

100+ To Loose
Happy Birthday to you! I'm glad you jumped in. I'm currently at 255.9 per my visit yesterday. When I had my band put in I was at 277 so I've kept 22 off...big whoop-de-do when I think of where I was before things went foo-bar. Anywho...I'm nervous and excited but, I want to be back on the losing side. So I'm here for you and so glad you joined in. Who knows...may be just you and I for a while by the look of the activity in here LOL. I hope it gets busier.

Let's Help Each Other On Those Bad Days
Hey everyone that is active so far on this website. I'd love to start a thread under the Surgery Support area so I started a thread. I thought it would be nice to help each other through those "bad" days. If we can't offer exact advice we can still support one another and offer friendship to get through the day. I haven't had my surgery yet but, I have been through WLS before so will help anyway I can. Anyone else in?

Who is your doctor? What hospital are/have you used?
I had my lapband surgery by Daniel Jones MD at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA. I'll be having him do the revision to RNY or one of the other two surgeons in the group. I'm confident in all of them and the care that hospital gives.

first one to post...
I'm looking to join the RNY side of weightloss. I too hope this site gets up and going. I just noticed that it just started in June so ......how will they get the word out?

Liquid Hell
two days before of liquids? I WISH! I'll have to do two weeks of liquids with just one regular meal well if you call their small list of choices regular. HAHAHA Still I know it's for good reason...need to get that liver fat down so they surgery goes smoother.

Unjury protein powder is awesome
I tried the powder back in 2006 when I first got my lapband and I didn't care for it. I imagine they have improved it since....I think I'll have to try this again. Do you use the unflavored one?

Switching from band to RNY Gastric Bypass (Pre-Op)
Appointments went great and have an ultrasound scheduled for next week. Just an information session to attend, that ultrasound and pass in a 4 day food journal and I'm done with my part. Then we wait and see if I'm accepted as a candidate for RNY and the date will be set. I'm excited and nervous has heck as well. This is major surgery for sure so not to be taken lightly but, I'm excited to know I'm in the process of getting help to the healthier me. Oh I went through hell with my lapband for sure. It's a wonderful tool if it doesn't slip on ya but, boy oh boy once it does...forget about it! I'll never get those years back! I hope everyone stays active here. I'm looking forward to traveling this journey with you. There is a new tab that has groups. Should we create one?

Medical ID Bracelets
You're very welcome. They really are pretty. I'll be getting one myself. Once you have the actual tag...if you know how to make jewelry you can make others to match

Beginning My Gastric Bypass Journey...first Visit Tomorrow
Thanks Leslie! The visits went very well. I have to go back next Tuesday for an ultrasound - making sure there are no gall stones and I have to attend an information session which I'll do this Thursday. That's it...then the bariatric team meets once all my visits are set to decide if I'm a good candidate for the surgery. Once they decide, I pick a surgeon meet with him to sigh an aftercare contract and I get a surgery date. This is the same bariatric group that did my lapband so they have my full file so that helped. They've changed a few things since I went through the program such as now they have a two week liquid diet pre-surgery and that was explained to me today. I do hope this site gets busier with members. Are there only a few right now? I now LBT was super busy and so full of information. I hope this one gets busy too. Thank you for your replies Leslie...I appreciate it
