Thinking About Cancelling Surgery
I think there would be something wrong if you weren't nervous at all. I think it's totally natural. Only you can make the final decision but, remember to take it all into consideration as to what got you here in the first place. Good luck

Gastric Bypass Related Books You Found Helpful
I just finished a great book that had lots of information about Gastric Bypass surgery: all the ins and outs, information about surgery, recipes, suggestions, helpful hints, real story inserts, before prep, after work, mind work. I thought it was great and in a great format. It's called : Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies. It was recommended by my bariatric group and I can understand why. I highly recommend the read. Anyone else have books related to the surgery, that they recommend?

Helpful Tools That Help You With Your Rny Routines?
I recently bought a thermos too that holds 8 oz of fluid. Cold or hot. Figuring I'll have to take mushi stuff to work for lunch for a while. Plus I love soups during the winter months and I know I'll really eat them more so after the surgery.

Helpful Tools That Help You With Your Rny Routines?
DL they have their own website Capella Flavor Drops. They just came out with drops for water too but, I haven't tried those. They have over 70 flavors and usually there is a deal when purchasing them. Looks like right now they are offering 10% off orders of $20 or more. I got mine when the deal was 5 bottles for $19.95. The bottles last a long time because you only have to use about 6-10 drops in your shake depending on how strong you like it.

Let's Help Each Other On Those Bad Days
DL I agree with you and hope when I'm on the other side of the journey I can keep that in mind as far as staying off the scale all the time. Thanks for that!

Helpful Tools That Help You With Your Rny Routines?
Any other helpful hints? I bought some flavorings for my shakes that have no calories, no sugar etc. They are by Capella. Folks use it for coffee but, it's great to make your plain shakes take on other flavors. I add coconut and toasted almond to my chocolate shake and it's fantastic! I've also added the peanut butter flavor to my chocolate and liked that too.

40's New Beginnings
Hi Cathy, YOU are definitely right and I hoping our 40's group will keep us all remembering that. I know I'll probably need a kick in the pants because I'm bound to keep comparing myself to others. Not that I meant to but, after so many diets and programs you pray THIS is the last thing you'll need. So naturally the comparison comes along. I try to keep telling myself that this will be different and whatever will be will be as far as how quickly I lose but, I do know I'm going to do everything in my power to follow the program my bariatric group prepares me to do and to continue to work towards a healthier me Thank you for the reminder and welcome to the boards!

Med Alert Tag - Do You Or Will You Wear One After Surgery?
I got one with the regular tag with red med alert symbol. Now that I have that I'll be making some of my own bracelet portions of it to add to it and change with my clothing choices for the day. I guess it's a hobbie that will take the place of eating that I use to do. NOT A BAD IDEA! Keep my hands busy instead of my mouth

Cant Keep Anything Down!
esther - seeing that broth stayed down....do you think maybe your body just isn't ready yet for the more solid food or that maybe you're not chewing it well enough before swallowing it? Everyone is different so we all react differently to each food stage. Maybe try blending the food first? So you're getting the more solid foods you like but, in a softer form until your body adjusts? Good luck!

Advice And Suggestions For The Spouse
barkatt - I think it's great that you want to support her in every way you can. Believe me that in itself is helping her more than you know. How about looking up different Protein shake recipes to help change the flavors for her? Making sure she has all her Vitamins set for when she can start taking them again. Perhaps getting her set up with a bento box for when she can eat, some pretty measuring cups and spoons, food scale...all things to make getting the right portions right for her. How about buying a Bariatric cook book for when she's ready to eat regular foods and both of you can cook through the cookbook together That's what hubby and I are going to do. Good luck to you both

Really Sad
I believe she meant If you're NOT to big to begin with the weight comes off slowly.

Random Things To Look Forward To...
Walking all day without getting blisters Less weight on my knees Buying clothes that go with my age instead of just because they fit Riding with my husband on his motorcycle and not feeling over exposed/feel confident Not looking in the mirror and seeing all the bulges and rolls

Tomorrow Is My Surgery!
Good luck and we'll be thinking of you. Let us know how you're doing

Hope Its Not Tmi
I agree...you should call your surgeon, let him/her know what's going on and they can help.

What Did I Do Wrong?
Did you chew the grilled chicken well? I've found grilled chicken dry and tough and I don't even have the surgery yet. If you didn't and took too much of it you may be having a hard time digesting it. Have you tried Papaya enzyme tablets or a little meat tenderizer to help digest it?
-
Stupid Question
You've got it twice in your signature line. Can you see where it starts repeating?

I wish I had smaller clothes for you....I haven't had the surgery yet. But...it may be something we massachusetts folks want to do as a group at some point.
