  1. Hello Everyone,

I had LapBand surgery in February 2006, revision surgery due to a slip in December 2008 and it ended with my band being removed in emergency surgery in February 2010. I couldn't revise to RNY then because my stomach was too inflamed. I went through an array of emotions the entire journey with my lapband and even more so after it was removed. I was relieved then depressed and what a cycle it was. I've tried yet again to diet after I regained confidence enough to try but, just like always in the end I've gained the weight I lost. I did great with my band, losing 80 pounds the first year and even with all the trouble at least I could keep it off. I have to face the fact I need help in losing and keeping it off. I started researching RNY again and now 1.5 years from losing my band I'm ready to make the move.

Tomorrow is a day full of visits to the bariatric center that I went to for my LapBand. I'm seeing a nurse to start the process, bloodwork, Medical Director for an exam, Nutritionist and Social Worker..together they all decide if they believe the surgery is for me and let me know.

I look forward to building friendships here to help each other along the way :)

Wish me luck with the visit :)

  2. Hello everyone, I too had the lapband and I was actually a moderator for Alex on LapBandTalk but, ended up leaving shortly after my band was removed in emergency surgery. Initially the band was put in Feb of 2006, I had revision do to a slip in Dec 2008 then I had the band removed in Feb 2010. I couldn't have revision surgery then because my stomach was inflamed and like I said it was an emergency. I was in Radiology for a swallow study after days of intense reflux and feeling like I was cooking from the inside out...during the testing we immediately saw that no Fluid was leaving my stomach. In the end, the radiology report stated the band that was once facing my left shoulder, was then facing my left foot. Out it had to come and that day, they even called my surgeon while he was in surgery. I went through a whirlwind of emotions and here I am a year and a half later realizing bypass is for me. The first year with my band I lost 80 pounds then all the trouble started. With that trouble I went up in weight with all the unfills etc and now I'm up 53 pounds. UGH!

So tomorrow is my first day back to the bariatric center....to start the process. I'm seeing the Director of the center for an exam, a nurse for evail, bloodwork, nutrionist and the social worker. I hope it all works out and I can go through the process quickly. I want to begin my new journey.

I hope too that things become active here. I know I will be participating for sure. Sites like this help so much and I'd love a buddy to walk the journey with.
