  1. That's when your response should be....There are lots of people who don't gain it back as well. I'm going to be one of the ones who does what I'm suppose to do and keep it off. Thank you for your support

    Sugar Alcohol?

When you're in the full eating stage it would work but, sugar alcohols can make you...umm.. well have to go to the bathroom if you take too much in. Laxative effect for some folks. For me if I have too much that does happen. Definitely wait until you're in the right eating stage though.

    Not Feeling Good

Not all acid medications work the same. Sounds like you need a to try a different one. My doc has me on prilosec (generic form) and I take it twice a day. Have you asked your doctor to switch yours?

    Surgery October 9

Malvord...believe me when I say all those thoughts were in most of our minds. But remember why you took this path in the first place. Two weeks is one thing but, the rest of your life is another. i for one did well on new diets for about 3 weeks. Then I'd hit a plateau and go another week. If that scale didn't move I'd immediately quick and eat my way back to where I started and then some sometimes. I went the lapband route the first time around because I was afraid to cut into organs. It was a great tool but, in the end I had trouble with it and it had to come out...so after yet again gaining weight back I knew this is what I needed to do for myself, my health and my life. Believe me I had doubts a few weeks before, then again 3 days before...scared, worried but, at the same time excited. It's natural! Only you can decide if it's right for you though. Write the pros and cons of the surgery, do more research and search deep within you about whether this is for you. Good luck and thinking of you.

Welcome Tina! Glad you're here and joined the boards. Good luck to you and your hubby on your journeys!
  9. How long has the stall been? Anything under 3 weeks they say isn't considered a stall. As far as throwing up....that WILL make you week, give you headaches and cause that 64-80 ouces of Water and that Protein to not really be at those levels because you've thrown them up. If that's the case then you're not getting in enough and that will cause the headaches too. If you're throwing up a lot, that will aggrevate your pouch and make it so you can't take in enough without getting sick and you may be throwing up because of a stricture. Have you asked for an earlier appointment? Sounds to me that switching back to liquids until your tummy settles would be a good thing but, you should really call your doc a.s.a.p. I wouldn't wait until Monday if you don't have to. I sure hope you feel better and get answers soon! hugs

    Hello I Have A Question

I was allowed milk when I left the hospital. It was considered a liquid. I had the option of mixing my shakes with either. I used water because it made my shake thinner and at the time my pouch seemed to want that more. Now it depends on how much protein I've had for the day. If not enough I'll use milk to gain the protein count.

    Laying Down Position

I slept in a recliner for almost a month. My main incision sight had an infection so it made it extra hard to sleep flat or on my side. Recliner was so helpful!

    Crazy Question

When you're eating a popsicle though you're only taking in the equivalent of a sip of water really. Sometimes the temperature of the popsicle helps easy your new pouch too.

    Nutri System Snacks

according to my nutritionist guidelines I'd be able to eat those. I've been using some of my Medifast Snacks since the surgery. They have 11 grams of soy Protein in them and it's crunchy stuff which helps.

    Please Help Me!

In thinking about it...Motivation for surgery. 1. Better Health 2. Moving more freely 3. less weight on joints 4. (name any ailments that you know will go away or get better) Hypertension under better control or gone Still you should check with your surgeon's secretary that completes the paperwork. They know first hand what the insurances are looking for and they are the ones who put the whole packet together to submit.

    Off Work Time

I was planning on 3 weeks because doc said I was still considered a lapband to rny revision. However I ran into complications with an incision infection and then another infection after that. So 6.5 weeks out for me with a sick day mixed in after I got back.

    Age

I had the lapband in 2006 when I was 42 and weighed about 280. After a revision and then a really bad prolaps after that it came out in 2010. I had to take at least 6 months to heal per the surgeon before they'd even consider any other WLS. After gaining most of it back....and seeing the age of 50 coming around the corner....I knew in my heart that when I hit 50 I really wanted to be healthier and feeling better physically so started my research again into WLS alternatives to the lapband since I knew it wasn't an option for me. At first I thought I'd go with the sleeve but, after meeting with my surgeon, hearing about both and reading lots of articles etc. I decided to go with RNY. It's been quite a trip due to some infection issues but, I'm happy with my decision and looking forward to feeling better before the big 50 day

    Protein Shakes

You can use SF puddings to help flavor your shakes and there are flavorings made by Cappella that help too. Torani also makes SF syrups. I love the Capella drops...they have so many flavors..my fav is a chocolate shake with 8 drops coconut flavor and 8 drops toasted almond. Tastes like an almond joy. I've also used a tablespoon of natural Peanut Butter or two tablespoons of PB2 peanut butter powder. It's peanut butter with the oil taken out and is in powder form. It adds Protein with all the fat.
