    Being Faithful

I believe if you want the thread closed the only way to do so is if the original thread starter closes it. But that authorization is given by the web designer, Alex and his crew. Some forums don't allow posts removed once started, other do. You'd have to ask Alex if you can delete it. You may be able to delete your own posts as well but, again...only if the forum is set up that way.

Helpful Tools That Help You With Your Rny Routines?

I didn't know Pure Protein had Mint chocolate! Where did you get that flavor? I do have a Mint cookie made by Syntrax that is very good but, I like the amount of protein in the Pure Protein shakes. Did you get your Capella drops yet? If so what do you think?

thank you eglean2. Sorry I just saw the post. Hubby and I went to NH for our anniversary and so this is the first time for me to get back online. Lots of catching up to do. What's everyone doing for the 4th of July? I'm taking the time to pick up the items I need for the week after the surgery.

    1 Week Post Op..need Help:(

Lolipop...the meds they use to knock you out do some nasty things and hormones all change etc because of it as well. It's definitely not uncommon for folks to feel weepy or depressed after surgery. It will get better. Do yourself a favor and go for a short walk, grab a informational book about bypass surgery if you haven't read one yet and get lots more information. All the info we can get helps us with the process all along the way. I highly recommend Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies. My bariatric group recommended it and it's been very helpful and has some great ideas for each stage of eating. As far as the pain, I highly suggest calling your surgeon's office and let them know. NO harm in it but, if something is wrong you'll know right away. I think it's your stomach getting used to having food again after it's gone through something very tramatic but, better safe to call your doc. Also...are you chewing really well. Although puree'd it should be ok however, are you taking in too much? Drinking while eating? taking small enough bites or spoonfuls? Just a few suggestions. WE're all different and have different things that happen to us but, just a thought. I hope the pain goes away for you. You are right......it's all going to get better!

Each insurance has their own requirements. Mine required 3 months of supervised dieting but, a ton of history with your PCP. 4 years worth of weights, letter from pcp, surgeon's letter and explanation of what she's doing, diet plan history, health work-ups etc. I've been working on this since Oct of last year when I started with a different group. The group that did my lapband. But then switched to this group and started this process in March. Very thankful it's finally approved. 3 weeks for you will come quick Don!

Let's Help Each Other On Those Bad Days

mami....where you had your surgery done...don't they have you work with a nutritionist? Give them a call and they'll have you find foods that work for you and will help you get your protein in.

Helpful Tools That Help You With Your Rny Routines?

I'm with you on that DL. Not sure I'll be using the vanilla anytime soon. The only vanilla I thought was ok that I've tried was from Celebrate and it's vanilla birthday cake. But after having bought a whole tub of vanilla from Pure Protein I didn't dare buy the other vanilla. DL have you tried Syntrax Mint Cookie Protein shake? That one is pretty good although I wouldn't be able to drink it for 3 meals. It's more of a once a day or every other day. Tastes like melted mint chocolate chip ice cream. I may try to make it into protein ice cream like Shelly does on her blog The World According to Eggface. Great blog!

    Tattoos & Piercings

I have 5 tattoos and 3 piercings in each ear. One tattoo is on my right thigh and is the size of a dinner plate. Sometimes I forget I have it until I put on shorts LOL I have one on my left wrist that is in chinese writing which means "Open the eyes" - to remind me how lucky I am, how beautiful everything truly is and to be thankful. I have a butterfly on my left foot with a lotus flower and swirly q's, the last two are above each ankle...one is a tulip and lady bug, the other a sunflower and bumble bee. Hoping to get one more on my left thigh of an angel holding an american flag or depending on what my leg looks like I may carry on with the butterflies all the way up my leg. we'll see

Thanks Don. Surgery date is definitely 7/11. They offered me 7/3 but, I already had everything set at work for 7/11 so that wouldn't of worked.

    Blood Clots

Having a medic and nurse on the RNYTalk boards will be very helpful! Please, PLEASE don't ever hesitate to pipe in if you think someone should seek their surgeon or medical help. Quite often folks post things here that make me scratch my head as to why they haven't called their surgeon/bariatric center to confirm it's nothing or to confirm they need to go in. I'd love for folks who see these things and dangerous signs and symptoms to feel comfortable to pipe in. So glad you're feeling better julia! Welcome to the boards dstollery and good luck with your journey as well.

If you know you're drinking enough water Mami then definitely call your surgeon if it's continuing. You could need some other supplement so better safe than sorry.

Helpful Tools That Help You With Your Rny Routines?

Although I haven't had the surgery, my nutritionist has had me drink 1 shake as a replacement meal a day and that's been for the last 2 months. Needless to say I've needed to change em up for sure. The PB2 makes the shakes really rich and thick. If you like Peanut Butter and chocolate you'll like the combo as a Protein shake. It's great that the PB2 adds protein without all the fat of regular pb too. Now...I have to figure out the best way to flavor vanilla shake. I don't care for the vanilla AT ALL but, I have a whole tub of it. Thinking I may try adding the PB2chocolate to it. Yup..they make PB2 with cocoa in it. So I'll try that next. Might even try my orange capella in it in hopes it make it more like a creamsicle or something. Just anything to cut the taste of the protein aftertaste from the vanilla. Any suggestions?

I just heard today, after calling my insurance company myself, that my surgery has been approved. YAY! I'm going to Tufts Medical Center in Boston and the last I heard my surgery is scheduled for July 11. My woman who does the scheduling for my surgeon went home early today so I'll call again tomorrow to confirm.

    Post-Op Vitamins

My bariatric group did blood work...from that point on they had me take a Multivitamin, D3 and Calcium daily. They do that to build up your Vitamin levels and get everything balanced. When surgery comes, we don't take the Vitamins again until after our first post-op visit. About 2-3 weeks after the surgery day. I asked about vitamins right after surgery and they said sometimes folks stomachs are very sensitive to vitamins because they can be harsh and some can't tolerate it yet. Instead they said your body has enough stored for the 2-3 weeks without you having issues. They'd prefer we took the time for our incisions and stomach to heal then start into the vitamins. Oh and B12 will come after surgery.
