How Had Surgery Effected Your Periods?

I was suppose to get mine the day of my surgery and didn't. I didn't get it again until a month and a half later. Seems it's coming every 4 weeks again now. Prior to it was a bit sporadic to the point where my doctor tested me for menopause.

    Please Help Me!

Wow....never heard of an insurance company needing this other than for our doctors to provide evidence and medical reason as to why we would benefit from the surgery. Did your doctors office make any recommendations as to an outline or some hints of what the insurance wants to see?

    Need Advice Please!

Just tell them the truth and let them know you'll need their help afterwards. Go with the questions they have after that. Let them know you're doing this so that your knees, back, blood pressure (whatever reasons you have) will get better and you can do more with them when you're all healed up. Let them know they helping around the house while you're healing would be such a big help and help them decide the right chores they can do. It helps them feel part of the process Kids always like to help mommy
  6. Thanks everyone and I'll be rooting for the folks that get to 50 too! We can do this! For the folks past the 50...way to go and onward to the next 10!

    Women Talk

I used to crave salty things the week before but, not anymore. What I have noticed is that my nerves or body shakes alot in the mornings until I get my vitamins in and some liquids. It's kinda scary sometimes actually. I've actually felt like I wasn't in my body if that makes sense?

    Reality Hits

It's going to be here before you know it. Take the time to prep your home for your return after surgery. Try all kinds of protein shakes, vitamins etc. and have them ready. Take a peek at the nutritional papers if you were given some and get the foods they recommend. Pick out a good book, chapstick and pack your bag for the hospital It will be here quick! Congrats!

    Waiting Game

Went through the exact same thing except my PCP went on vacation so I couldn't get the letter. Her office wouldn't write one wihtout her even with all my records being there. I had to wait two weeks for the letter which pushed my already scheduled surgery out another month. Worse part was she has written a letter and it was submitted but, she didn't use the words "medically released" in her letter just that she recommends me to have it and felt I would benefit from it. Unreal....so another letter went out when she got back it surgery was approved in days.

    Yogurt With 2X Protein

My nutritionist said up to 14 grams of sugar or less and only 5-6 grams of fat per serving allowed. Sugar in yogurt and milk is different than table sugar as well.

Ok Tmi But I Need Help

Actually just about anyone who has surgery ends up with those shots. They don't want clots to form due to no activity so they give them to you. Only while in the hospital and the needle is pretty small. They don't really hurt...at least for me the didn't you just get sick of having to have them.

    My Family Is Having Pizza

But you're 34 pounds thinner according to your ticker. It's worth it girl! Oh my first period was awful too...cramps galore. At first had me worried because I haven't had cramps in quite a while but, when you figure all the work done in there.....yup I can see why it happened. Hope you feel better. Oh and.....when you can have solids (don't know what stage you're on) make a pizza using a low carb wrap or tortia I make them and they're great. I control the sauce and cheese to keep it healthy.

    Strawberry No Bake Cheesecake

Isn't the sugar level in a premade graham crust too high? If you put the ingredients on Spark People recipe maker you can get the stats.

    Fitbit Aria Scale

The fitbit is a device you wear on your correct? It measures how much you've walked or calories you've burned. I think folks think fitbit is your scale. They work together with a program on your computer but, if I recall correctly the fitbit you can clip to your bra or pants for the exercise portion of things..then it interacts with your scale and computer. Is that right? I hear it's quite a motivator to move.

    Four More Months.

it's totally understandable to want the surgery as quickly as possible after making the decision. INsurance requirements cause all different lengths of time between the first initial visit and the actual date. Take this time to get very well prepared mentally for pre and POST op time. The more prep work the better in my opinion. For me I started before my first visit with the surgeon because I had the lapband prior and knew I had to get ahold of the head hunger issues and the reasons why I ate the wrong foods etc. What triggered the eating etc. It's been a phenominal help to me having figured it all out and continue to work on it. It sure helps the process even post op Believe me the surgery will get here quick!
  16. My approval letter came 1.5 weeks after the verbal. The surgeon hears faster than we do most of the time. Further tests if ordered are done for reasons. Sometimes an EKG lead wasn't on correctly and can cause an issue. Better safe than sorry and have the next test done so you're the safest you can be going into surgery.

    In Need Of Some Support...

DL is right though. You're surgeon is there to help. I know for me I started counseling prior to starting the process and all during it because I knew I had to work on the head hunger and reasons I ate in the first place. It sure has helped! Lots of good books on it as well.

    Results?

NO way of knowing until it's happening. There isn't much to do to prevent it either. Folks try lotions etc but, in the end if you're skin is going to do it, it will. I concentrate more on getting healthy and reaching my weight goal. Once there I'll decide to go with plastics or not....it's yet another major surgery. A friend of mine chose not to have the access skin removed...she said it's a reminder of where she came from.

Ok Tmi But I Need Help

I was going to say mine was pretty dark. I also had to take Colace the first few weeks. Never TMI in this place to me. Heck we all go through some weird stuff and it helps to know it's "normal" with this surgery. OH I was bruised for weeks after all those heprin shots. They did two in my stomach and I finally asked them to give it to me in my arms instead. I had 4-5 bruises on my arms that lasted at least a month!
  23. I hear ya there! For me right now I can't drink another protein shake. After my rounds with antibiotics they seem to go right through me. So I REALLY have to get in all 64 ounces. SF popsicles help though.

    Post Op Liquid Diet

Just remember you're healing inside and out....there is a reason for the liquid and you're doing great! Let them eat pizza and whatever else it is. It doesn't mean you'll never be able to have it again....it will come in time but, for now you're doing what's best for you! I know it's not always easy....and we can't expect the people around us to stop their normal routine...we can only go along with it knowing we made the right decision and we're getting healthier. You can do it girl! We're here for you!

Call Anyone Tell Me What To Expect

poke around the website and you'll get lots of information. Everyone's journey before and after surgery is different. We even have different nutritional rules to follow but, basically all the same in the end after healing. Good luck with your process. Oh and insurance has alot to do with the length of time from the start of looking into RNY and the actual surgery date.
